LYRICS
Climbing up the tower
Just a boy and his computer
I’m still in my bathrobe
Hiding in the shadows
I’m not used to losing
Bye, bye, sugar blue eyes
You’re home with the angels
Thank you for being so kind
I’m holding on and I don’t want to let you go
Yeah it feels like summer
Yeah it feels like summer to me
Yeah it feels like summer
Yeah it feels like summer to me
And she was a lover to me, to me, to me, to me
Which way is the graveyard?
I’m an iceberg with a warm heart
Im spiritual, not religious
Im a Libra, if it matters
Shattered by an email
Your words will fade away
Castle built in the sand
Will only last one day
I’m holding on and I don’t want to let you go
Yeah it feels like summer
Yeah it feels like summer to me
Yeah it feels like summer
Yeah it feels like summer to me And she was a lover to me
June bride, shine so bright
Flowers in her hair, but it just ain’t right
June bride, shine so bright
Flowers in her hair, we look good together
We look good together
Yeah it feels like summer
Yeah it feels like summer to me
And she was a lover to me
Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cried for you, you were the song in my life
Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cry for you, you were the song in my life

I heard this on the radio, but I had no idea it was Weezer. I've grown up on their music since I was little, but I'm perfectly fine with them changing their sound. I'm just glad to see them still making music.
Weezer, son. Get it right.
Aaron Landry if you grew up on "wheezer", you would know it's "weezer". jackass.
It is Weezer my dude.

Sensational
Music is a direct reflection of the artist. By expecting someone's music to be the same as it was 20 years ago, you are implying that the artist hasn't changed or grown as a person. True fans would embrace and appreciate River's evolution as a person and a songwriter
20 years ago? Blue album and Pinkerton fans were already turning on Weezer 20 years ago. That’d be like saying “Don’t expect The Beach Boys to be the same as they were in the 80s” when talking about Summer In Paradise
I agree with that. But why does changing always mean starting to produce pop music?
@@whenwhen2284 The comment was in 2017. 20 years ago would have been 1997, just a year after Pinkerton.
@@marcelcohen3435 I don't know what you're complaining about, considering that not only has Weezer been making pop music since the early 2000s, Rivers Cuomo ghostwrote a lot of pop hits in the early 2010s, and has even shown up as a featured artist on songs like "Magic" and "Can't Keep My Hands Off You."
In other words making pop music is nothing new for Weezer.
@@marcelcohen3435 i mean they always made pop but it wasnt THIS bland

Sounds nothing like the White Album, but I love when Weezer experiments with different styles, and there's nothing cringe about this song at all. It's well produced and has great lyrics!
You're always on Weezer videos...btw are you gonna get Splatoon 2?
ZackScottGames wouldn't expect you here
When it comes to the white album I like one song from that one. There are only 2 weezer albums I don’t like the entirety of and I’m sure you can guess which ones. This is good tho.

I wasn't sure what to think when I first heard this song, but I gotta admit, it's really growing on me. On the surface it's all pop and synthesisers, but there's really a depressing undertone if you look for it
It's a very poignant song. And it isn't really about summer. It's about someone longing for and remembering a past experience. When he remembers the past "it feels like summer to me".
I thought I was the only one that heard depression in this song. I definitely think the song has a sadness, almost like he is singing about the magic of Summer as a child, but it's gone now.
Well said.....
1st time: This is so different from their old songs! I won't even bother to listen until the end.
2nd time: Maybe I should just give it another chance.... Hey, it's not actually THAT bad!
5th time: I'm diggin' it... But I really need to stop pressing repeat for now...
11th time: *YEAH IT FEELS LIKE SUMMER!*

Also: had no clue they were around still. I know their first album is 26 now so damn.
Alot of people dont like this song but I do. While I agree that pasific daydream is prob their worst album (that or raditude) I would rather have this than what feels like the same album from green on
This is prolly my least favorite single from them tbh
@@danaenaegod5203 Pacific Daydream is honestly one of my faves
@@Kyle-wc3sj what exactly do you like about this album theres only 2 good songs on it I'm really curious about what you like with this album not trying to sound rude
@@radoverpink this album just makes me feel happy. Its good dopamine. Gets stuck in my head in a good way.
Rivers is such a musical genius. He’s very underrated. I really liked how they actually made it more mainstream but kept some go there roots.
this is no where close to their roots, they went from the good white album to..... this.
This isn't a good example of what Rivers is capable of and Rivers isn't underrated is just that he is capable of writing *good* power pop and rock pop albums (white, some songs on blue) and then put out pop albums with bad lyrics (beverly hills, raditude) and this doesn't have a lot of his roots (alternative rock being the main root) a good example I think is back to the shack on how he kept his roots
you know whos an actual underrated weezer member? matt sharp
@@happyhapsly hes contributed nothing to the actual music he just had good stage presence
@@happyhapsly literally nobody thinks this. the general public's consensus is that everything the band has made after he left sucks. he didn't even write the bass parts! Rivers wrote the bass parts! Scott Shriner and Mikey Welsh have done more for the band than Matt Sharp ever did.
I feel STUPID. Just realized this was the same band that made “Island in the sun”..... YEARS LATER
Same exact thing happened to me. Thanks to quarantine, I had lots of time catching up to their music.
the more I listen the more it grows on me
it doesn't sound like they're trying to hard it feels like they're legit trying something new and seeing where it goes
we all know if this album fails they'll actually try to fix their mistakes instead of ignoring them that's why I can respect weezer
Stultus I certainly hope so!
I love this song and didn't realize it was Weezer. I looked it up and was surprised. I like it.
I agree. A lot of bands that were around in the '90s are coming out with albums that feel too forced. Weezer isn't doing that.
@Bonnie - haha, same here! Always loved Weezer though :)
Stultus very true
I love that Weezer is still coming up with relevant music. These guys were around in my teens and at 37, I'm still listening to them and enjoying it.
Not many bands can do that which is impressive.
Seriously. Yeah, there are bands that have been around & playing forever, but many of them are playing their old songs (nothing wrong with that) and not continuing to make some good music.
311 is one of the longest running bands. And far more consistent.
im with you on that one
Hector Acevedo my dads the same for you. Pasted it down to his kids. Smart;)
Relevant?! LOLOL They are the farthest thing from relevant, and should've quit while they were ahead with the blue album. It doesn't feel like summer...it feels like a band that is trying REAL HARD to sell out, but can't quite reach the apex of doing so. Now, queue the poolside frat party, in L.A., in the summer!
I've listened to weezer since I was 13. Thank you David Johnson for telling me about them in 95.
Same! I love Weezer. Except I was 16, That takes me back man!
Good job David Johnson

Checking back to this comment, it’s pretty popular wow.
I see what you did there! Hee her
Yup
I was kinda bummed out when the song came out and I watched this video, since I had been expecting them to go darker than White Album based off of what Rivers had said in interviews. However, it has tremendously grown on me and I now crank it on my car radio when it comes onto the alternative/rock stations I listen to, haha
And here I was, thinking that FUNKe was the only one who listened to Weezer. :)
This album is pretty damn dark tbh... I'd say by a landslide if you look at each individual song from both albums
lol pleb
Also just cool they did Happy Together Tour stuff of the Turtles. Man...the Cali stuff I look up or 'know' are of are from my dad and from his stories of his dad growing up in California or Seattle or Miami. My memories of Weezer are from my 90s "version" of my sisters music collection and Windows 2000 demo vid lol. Won't recall any of this....but the name captain and teniel(spellcheck) came to mind with one couple at the concert. Outfit wise. Don't know if crazy or think I am part of a study or for odd time capsule--- want to also note that I have seem Paul Revere and the Raiders perform too. Again don't really remember that show but bet it was at out State Fair Grounds. Wearing those awesome British invasion style jackets.
Lukey Pooky things that grow on you are always the best in my humble opinion. "They" as in what ever it was that grew on you, take effort to like and everyone has their reasons why ...in essence once it takes root and grows on you its hard to let go.
This animation looks REALLY cool but also depressingly painful
In retrospect, I consider White Album, Pacific Daydream, and black album a "21st century cali" trilogy. White album is blue album with an extra dose of beach boys which evokes the shoreside, right on the beach, like newport beach, oceanside, Del mar or La Jolla. Pacific daydream is pop that evokes the coastal suburb areas and malls, going around in places like Irvine spectrum center or UTC mall in San Diego. Black album is slightly more urban feeling pop that evokes driving thru downtown, capturing the hustle and bustle of downtown LA or downtown san diego when the sun sets.
You described the feel of each album perfectly, I always thought pacific daydream had a mall feel to it.
this doesn't sound like any other weezer say for some elements of white. And I kinda like it. hopefully not everything on black will be like this. I'm still down with this track
I'm obsessed withe this song

Haters gonna hate.
So I'm a kid born and raised on 90s alternative. I have listened to the entire Blue and Green albums. When I first heard this song, I allowed my pop prejudice to get in the way of liking it. By the second time, I had already realized how much I actually love this song. It sounds like a new era, with little hints of the good old days. And the live version makes this even better. Love the lyrics, vocals, and the hints of bass and guitar. Great song altogether and great effort Weezer
This is like something you listen to in an Urban Outfitters changing room
Wasn't back to the shack an apology for this
yuuuupppppp. once again, Rivers being a hypocrite, -actual lyric from "Ive had it up to here" on EWBAITE, "Don't want to compromise my art for universal appeal, don't want to be mass consumed"....well, it doesnt seem like it anymore Mr. Cuomo....
he became a happy meal :/
Looks like he forgot that he forgot disco sucks
This is FAR from disco. Anyway, I enjoyed their previous two albums which were their return to a more rock sound, while I only liked a handful of their poppier songs from the albums before that. But I kinda dig this one. It sounds different from their other, lesser pop songs. Hopefully the album has a few rockers in there. This is the first single after all, so they're definitely trying to reach a larger audience with this song at least. We'll just have to wait and see what the next single sounds like.
Yeah, I feel betrayed

The White Album was amazing. And honestly I don't see why people are crapping on this song so much, it HONESTLY captures the "summer-feel" while still having the Weezer spin
Gotta say, this song has grown on me a lot. One thing that has ALWAYS been consistent with Weezer (even in the stuff everyone hates) is great melody. No matter what stylistic direction Rivers takes, I can always count on him to write catchy tunes. At this point, Weezer have at least twice redeemed themselves effectively for Raditude (whose problems were more in the lyrics than the music anyway), and I'm looking forward to whatever they do next. Plus, considering what bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco (who Weezer toured with) have been releasing, I'm surprised Weezer didn't get this poppy a long time ago. (Plus, this song's poppiness works well, in part because Rivers is continuing to use White Album-like enigmatic lyrics instead of writing dumb songs about partying, like in 2009.) Just be glad the White Album and EWBAITE happened and move on, folks.
pinkerton 4 lyfe
The partying lyrics in 2009 were probably satirical, but I'm not 100% sure
"I'm surprised didn't get this poppy a long time ago."
...Have you been living under a rock for the last couple decades? The Green Album was the start of Weezer shifting to popular music, and 2009's Raditude was the true harbinger, what with having featured artists and outside songwriters. Indeed, I find it hilarious that people waited until 2017 to hate on Weezer for going pop, considering they haven't made an actual rock record since the late 90s.
this song is/was so underrated
I totally AGREE with YOU.
Can't wait to listen to this on my way home from my last day of school

A band makes music that they want to make. That's how artists work.
i really love this song. It just makes me so happy and feel the amazing summer vibes
Why would anybody fight you for liking this?
You fucking idiot.
Bands grow and sounds change and fans dislike that. But their old music is always gonna be there in our hearts, soul and memories. and frankly anything a band that I love and care for releases anything new. Thats awesome! Rather them release something new than nothing at all.
This song might get a little bigger after Childish gambino dropped his most recent song. This song comes up next on Spotify when that song ends
Gucci Wasabi if someone is introduced to weezer, an emo band, by this pop garbage, its not a good day.
I mean, Feels Like Summer isn’t that bad of a song, and neither is Pacific Daydream as a whole, it’s just different from what they usually do

Bands and artists are just like everyone else, their own personal music taste is bound to change.... I love musical artists that actually incorporate that change into their music so as what they enjoy evolves... as does their art. So kudos to Weezer for being able to evolve, and kudos to those of you capable of understanding that and embracing it.
Underated comment honestly
People we cannot judge the forthcoming album based off this 1 song. Remember when Thank God for Girls came out and people were skeptical? Then Weezer blessed us with the White Album? Have faith in them.
The Tucc TGFG's is awesome
I personally agree, TGFG's is a great song. But when it got first released people were upset thinking Weezer was heading in a different direction, but in the end The White Album became their best album in recent years.
June in Phoenix Arizona, it's summer baby ☀️🌇
Sounds like a song that would be on a car commercial
I guess I'm not a real Weezer fan cause I like this song and "Thank God For Girls".

Ryan Smith thank god for girls for a good song, this isn't. this just sounds like every other song on the radio

People just seem to have forgotten that "real" fans support their favourite artists, games, sports teams, whatever, no matter what they changes they go through. They do this because they love them.
idk why people are fussing. Weezer has always experimented with different sounds and types of music...
mywingsareyours They really haven't, they've always stuck to alt rock, so this is an (unpleasant if you ask me) surprise.
mywingsareyours
No. They haven't
Holy cow I forgot how different the album version of this song sounds. I almost exclusively listen to the acoustic version. This actually sounds like a Weezer made remix and the acoustic version is the "original" instead of the other way around to me.
Either way, I like this song a lot, but I'm so used to the acoustic that I prefer it instead.
7 months later, I still completely agree...
I love the acoustic version.
I commend them for keeping it fresh and trying new things. Such amazing talent!
People having a go at them for sounding different. So stupid. Expect them to be the same 20 years on?!?! I love this song!!

That it doesn't sound like Weezer. The acoustic version is a little bit better
@@pedrodorantes3527 Most of Pinkerton was drastically different from Weezer when it came out. People will complain about anything.
Most Weezer fans (including me) who had a problem with this album was that it wasn't Weezer, at all. With EWBAITE and the White Album, they finally went back to their old sound and Rivers actually put *effort* into songwriting and singing. This album was not like that, the sound was very poppy. They clearly wanted a commercial success, and I don't understand why since so many people were pleased with White. It's a good pop album but when you compare it to Weezer's past albums it's disappointing. Just my opinion though.
Its just not the same style that old school weezer fans want. Ive been putting off these songs and now I see I was right to be biased.
This sounds like something that a kid would use in their tutorial video in 2009
Went to the Hella Mega Tour of Green Day, Weezer & Fall Out Boy. Even though I grew up with Green Day and a bit of Fall Ouy Boy, I didn't know any songs of Weezer (weren't as popular in Holland). But this song was among my favorite songs of the festival, I love it! Their live version is even way better.
Same, I live in Texas and ended up going to the concert in NYC by coincidence, instead of Dallas. This song takes me back

I've listened to this band my whole life.. but you know what, I actually don't mind this song. I think it's good! Would I like an album entirely of this sound? No. but I don't get all the hate..
Sean P Oh man, well said, very well said...it is precisely what Im thinking.
Awesome song...a full album of this? No, heck no, not for me anyway.
Anyway I havent looked up the rest of the album...anyone care to tell me how it is?xD
Does this song represent well the whole album or is this just 1 song among the other?
Rivers has said the Black Album will be darker, with more serious themes and possibly swearing, which he hasn't done before to my knowledge. He described it as "The Beach Boys gone bad."
Sean P I used to dislike this song but I've gave it a few new tries and now I feel like it's amazing, but still doesn't compare to the blue album in my OPINION.
Yeah a cheesy poppy song about summer. Thats never been done before, totally what everyone wants from an alternative rock band.
First time I heard this, I was driving to town (I live like 30 minutes out in the countryside with nothing around). Anyway, I was halfway through the drive, this came on the radio. I don't know what it was, but it reminded me of my husband & when we first met. And then the part "Let me see the smile, stay with me a while. I cried for you, you were song in my life." just about brought me to tears for some reason. Now I can't stop playing this song. It just brings a lot of emotion out of me.
Great bridge!
The vocals are amazing
are you Hellene Keller
Daft Doggo I like them
Oscar Hand that's generally the case, but what's sadder is that Weezer is known to be talented, yet they're not using their talent and instead are grasping for top 40s radio bullshit.
Oscar Hand "no talent" is not a phrase the belongs anywhere near any discussion of Rivers Cuomo's singing
Oscar Hand Listen to the acoustic version. Are the vocals good for you now?
Obsessed with this song. So different sound medically from their older stuff, but the lyrics and especially the chorus.. LOVE IT! Very much a throwback.
this song’s vibes. sound almost frustrated or like it’s coping???
idk how else to describe it
I love the graphics too
Fight me Geek fams
In my opinion, this song is not the next "Buddy Holly" (obviously), but I can't help but respect Rivers and Weezer. Unless this was the label's idea, the fact that they went for a more pop/electronic sound proves that they are willing to change in order to earn more radio play. I respect the hustle. Critics may perceive this sound as Weezer "selling out" or "a desperate grab for attention" but you gotta do what you gotta do. I hope the other songs are better but I, at least, hope for a Green Album, in terms of solidness. I give this single a 7/10.

Very
pacific daydream is overhated
When everyone thinks this is a cute song about summer but it's actually about his fiance dying before their wedding day
Wait did that actually happen?
What?
I need an instrumental now.
I'm seeing a lot of people saying that this doesn't sound like Weezer and that this is just them experimenting, but why does that matter? All that matters is that if you like the song, then you have a new song to listen to, and if you don't like it, then oh well. Change isn't necessarily bad or good; it's whatever you make of it. The most important thing is to judge this song as it's own creation, not in comparison to past Weezer songs.
Exactly. All hail the wise Astromastor!

Yeah
I thought i was a new fan to weezer , but it turns out i was already a fan (buddy holly ,say it aint so , hash pipe . ) what a great comeback song. Great band.
This song rocks when you're high and it's even better live.
The dislikes are ridiculous. Jesus christ, let him branch out.
Hannah Kleber so, you think people are not allowed to dislike this song? or their just not allowed to express their opinions?
No, not at all. I think that people who dislike solely because it's different are ridiculous. People that don't care about the song and just want to dislike for the sake of being an asshole. You can hate this song, that's certainly fair, but don't jump on the bandwagon just because it seems convenient.

*Rivers rn* WHAT'S WITH THESE HOMIES DISSING MY SONG
Weezer had to do it wrong, before weezer could do it right.
I never thought it would come to this, now I can never go home.
If you're wondering if I liked the song, I didn't
What did they ever do to these fans, that made them so violent?

Now this is good Weezer! Finally something memorable since Beverly Hills!
Weezer, here's how you can make your "fans" happy. Take all the blue album songs and release them as a "new album" with a purple background.
Nobody wants another blue. We just don't a watered down version of Weezer.
Luke Westburg you're a fucking genius.
I completely agree with you Luke Skywalker
there probably are some. somewhere.
Thanks everyone, I almost forgot why I rarely post UA-cam comments :) I don't think this song is "great" by any means, I just think after their last two solid albums they've earned some free reign to try out some different sounds.
Catchy af, light years ahead of raditude; excited for this album still!!
FIFA 18 👍

Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cried for you, you were the song in my life
Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cry for you, you were the song in my life
I am new to Weezer and i honestly like this song and feels this song deserves more views in the future.
Let's keep it underrated. Because f**k others.
rithik gandhi how are you knew to weezer? They have been around forever
I agree with your statement, but for the record they didn't actually make any grammatical errors; just a spelling error (there's a difference).
If you haven't already you should listen to the white album it's kinda similar to this and has a nice summery feel. Pinkerton is a good album too but it's like the complete opposite of this.
er1010ic Blue is better than Pinkerton and agreeable to all
Come on Weezer don't Coldplay us!!
IK people don’t like this album, but this song is legit really cool sounding. Like that bridge is amazing
My friend put Weezer on shuffle while we were tripping on acid last weekend. Never really listened to them before but this song was definitely 10/10 and had to find it!
Let's hope this is just the "thank god for girls" of the album.
yeah, like TGFG wasnt bad, its just that ya don't want a whole album of it
exactly
Thank God for Girls has depth n jams n cannolis, n ribs, n pain n weird purple love! this is kumbaya making me extra violent! :o
TGFG still sounded like Weezer though. this is the complete opposite of TGFG.
I hope you mean raditude, fam. EWBAITE was great.
Doesn't sound exactly like Weezer. Don't care, it's incredible
First thing my brother said to me today was "it feels like summer". It's 80 degrees, in February.
Love the old stuff and this is so different. However, I truly love it. I feel like Weezer and Beck are some of the few that can develop without destroying the perception of their old stuff. Love you Weezer!
I will always love Weezer and continue to love them, but in my honest opinion, this new song just sounds like the typical pop/alternative music that we normally get today
Evan Acree What's your opinion on that type of music?
S Khan Interesting...
Evan Acree I kinda agree. It's a catchy and good pop song tho. It's just not want I want to hear from Weezer. But I think the rest of the black album will be very good. I can tell it's still going to be the dark theme they were talking about.
Bands that became generic pop music these last few months: Kaiser Chiefs, Linkin Park, Richard Ashcroft, Weezer. I call it "Coldplaying". Dark days indeed.
My problem is that it is generic pop. Listen do Halsey and Lorde. Linkin Park's last song sounds the SAME. The same studio tricks, same synths, same everything. A Michael Jackson song has more guitars than all of these bands put together.
Just because you're nostalgic for old weezer doesn't mean you need to try to stop them from going in a different direction. Times are changing, and so are weezer. If you don't like it, whatever, that's your loss. Weezer is more than genre. Weezer is more then rock. People need to realize this
Nerdvana People aren't nostalgic, they just don't want a watered down version of weezer. The fans want an honest and darker album and not a generic pop song that can be fun to listen once in a while
This song as a stand alone song and without comparing it to their previous work, is catchy af! It sounds amazing live and it's fun to listen to
For whomever put this video onto UA-cam... Please add a buffer at the end so the entire video can be experienced without obnoxious on-screen posters promoting other songs for the last few seconds of the video.
The people who are saying that this song is pop, I would agree; however, at least it's GOOD pop, something that is sorely lacking at the moment, so honestly I'm ok with this song.
All of Weezer's music could be described as "pop." They've always had songs built around catchy melodies, big sing-along hooks, harmonies, etc. Although I will say the vocals sound autotuned, which is definitely new for them.
@Tuan Jim Weezer has been using autotune for a while, they just try to avoid using it full out, unlike this single release.
Ben Albeyta I would say it has a alternative vibe but then it's like if Taylor swift actually made a good song.
ya it's one of the pop songs on the album, but the whole album is pretty pop-rock-alternative. and there IS a such thing as GOOD pop.
The song sounds a lot like Twenty One Pilots to me. I actually thought it was them the first time I heard it.
I'm in awe of the animation! The song is alright but that's what I usually think when I hear a new weezer song. And then I eventually love it.
That fucking Melon sent me here and I like it actually.
Psychedelic Pain what melon and who’s f*cking it? Asking for a friend
Baked Potato The thing that happens after taking a h.i.t. of Heroin. The needledrop(s)

White Recluse ... Anthony Fantano
People don't get that times are changing... And the only thing that counts is how do we adapt ourselves with style. That's what Weezer did here. Great song!
I don't really like pop but, this song is really good! I hope weezer keeps making awesome songs like this one!
I would complain about this but I actually enjoyed this song. But I don't want The Black Album to sound like this though. I am hoping for the album to have a more Pinketon feel.
Brandon Lopez This song could be the "Getchoo" of the black album. Not amazing but like a 7/10
Mateo C. Getchoo is amazing though in my opinion. This song is like the "Thank God For Girls" of The Black album hopefully.
Brandon Lopez lyrically its kind of like pinkerton (though less personal and more dark and weird). musically it is its own thing though and I am digging it
oh yeah, its not amazing.. but the music for getchoo was deep burgandy fire; the music set the tone for their lyrics.. it was a knockout with banging drums n jams... and after the layer of jamming eventually dig into depths of what the song is about... but **this.. is beginning to hurt..** ugh the most amazing was the way it ends, like its going to a dark place... **crossing fingers** i hope its the first song that leads to the dark places, Rivers talked about...

Fifa 19: also has feels like summer
Warren Miller's Face of Winter is the absolute best use of this song.
