I just looked at 3 of my Fender amps from the 60's and 70's . The placement of the badge is different on each of them. None are as close to the edge as your donor cabinet, but the furthest away is on the 4th vertical line in the grill cloth ('69 Super Reverb). I don't think they used a template. When I installed a badge for a Vibrolux Reverb I recently bought, I used an old "The Executive Pocket Pal" to copy the angle from one of my other amps. You can do a search for that device. It came with "The Executive Pocket Chum" caliper.
Awww, your wee face when you were playing your (very nice) bass through the amp 😎 I can only imagine how good it feels to play through something you have restored by yourself, for yourself. For my tuppence-ha’penny’s worth, I would keep as much of the original amp as possible, as you have done, including the cabinet but I could care less where the badge goes. The donated cabinet should be the housing for your version of what a 21st century Bassman SHOULD be. But what do I know? I’m just a failed/lapsed drummer who likes bass guitars. Thanks for these bonus videos, Chris. It’s a lucky man who has (one of) his hobbies as his job and his job as (one of) his hobbies.
You could of course use the donated cab with the recovered baffle of you want the badge moved over. The cab will look more in line with the amp condition waist than a new covering.
I'd go with the stock amp in the original cabinet with the logo (where ever you think it looks best--these things do tend to vary depending on the year and sometimes even the day of the week!) And congrats! Its ALIVE!!!! 😁
But remember these badges were being installed by someone who probably did that all day. There are bound to be different placements. They got bored, they were chatting to someone, the drill slipped. Whatever. It just got put on out of line. They weren’t measuring lines in the cloth. That’s were it ended up. Just go with it. I’ve seen case badges all over the place.
The badge should be a couple rows over as you've seen. To get the angle right the d in fender should point up to a point between the first two controls. Your donor can had the logo in the wrong spot. It was the 70's.
I’ve had a look at various images online of Fender Bassman heads and it seems the Fender logo does vary in position on these. Could be the spare one you’ve been sent was a Friday afternoon one and the employee who’s job was to put it on was looking forward to the weekend off, so didn’t really care where it went as long as it was screwed on 😉😉
Chris, is there any kind of standard or guidelines for what colors of wire should be used where? Much of the wires on the preamp side are all white. Is that sometimes confusing? Many thanks.
that’s looking incredible, great restoration!

Use the donated cabinet and move the badge to the right.

Great output Chris 130w into 8 ohms clean is absolutely brilliant. 👍👍

Rift logo in the same font as the Fender logo on the hot rod amp.

A British version of a Fender would be a called a Mudguard?🙂
Even worse…mudflap
Or a bumper
RIFT AMPS, How can you measure the "TRACKING" of the diode rectifier & tube rectifier? To compare the tracking.
Thanks

Only for mains wiring…everything else is a free choice 👍
That was brilliant, I feel like I’ve just witnessed a birth 😂
Congratulations on your new amp!
