- Today I made a super smart NPC game with ChatGPT and Unreal Engine 5.
In this devlog video I take on using ChatGPT's generative AI capabilities in combination with Unreal Engine 5's robust lumen (RTX) and gameplay abilities to make an AI NPC that produces smooth and realistic conversations with the user's voice input in real-time.. and more..
Will the AI act in ways it isn't supposed to? Can humans bond with AI? This video will answer these questions.

In case anyone in the future is curious but not aware. SillyTavern is a commonly used tool for creating managing and utilizing multiple characters for people running LLMs.

this was absolutely insane to see, beyond the scary conversations they had about humanity, this opens up so much more into next gen video games. I cannot wait to see how will develop and be implemented into video games

i could totally see this being a puzzle solving game where you talk to your ai buddy for help. Maybe as the game progresses you start to realize he's acutely evil.
Or you start to realise you are the one being told what to do. You are the artificial intelligence.

Bro how are you not bigger than this, you are making such cool things in unreal! I've been wanting to try and figure out how to do something like this for a while now and you've given me the much needed inspiration to go ahead and do it now that I know its possible. If you had the time I would love to see a more in depth tutorial on the plugins and how you got the two AI talking to each other.
It would be very cool if you could make it so one gpt bot could give commands to the other ones!
Like if you said "go there and pick up the block and then go there and drop it. Then tell all the other robots to do the same "

I just picked up UE5 after years of looking at it from the side, and oh my goodness, to know you can create this kind of things makes me want to learn it even harder !!
Now all that's missing is to make it so that when it gives an anger score of over 80 or 90, it gives control over to a combat AI and starts attacking the entity that gave it whatever speech caused it to generate its enraged response in the first place.
even adding things like automatic prompts when events happen, like "you have been hit by a shovel" on collision with a shovel object, would make these AI so responsive and lifelike. in 10 or so years we might see AI as NPCs in videogames.
You may want to look into the recent update to GPT that adds Function Calling to the API. It'll help get more predictability and consistency for things beyond just talking, like the emotions, movement, and actions.

I look forward to 20 years from now where every npc will be this and they can directly respond real time to events and player decisions
You should implement this into some kind of game or something and you have a squad that you can talk to and ask to do things or exhibit different behaviors.
Perhaps something like a roguelite, that would be absolutely crazy to not only have random levels and enemies and puzzles and stuff but random conversations and behaviors and maybe even the ais themselves affecting eachother
