Yes! This is brilliant! It’s Sunday evening, which means it’s my day off, I have my warm tea, my cats are all asleep, I’m wrapped in a blanket (I don’t have a migraine for once) and now this. This is probably the second best way to chill and get a smile on my face (the first one is LOTR movies I’m sorry). Perfect timing! ETA: I’m not going to give a run down of the whole lyrics but my nerdy ass was hyped when I caught all the evolutive biology references (took me a while bc English is not my first language) Yes! You did hear Metallica and... fuck idk if it’s Bach or Mozart either but that bit of the song is meant to show the evolving of the human race, music, poetry, art, literature hence the “he gave birth to poetry” line. To follow up with your music museum comment, it’s like a music gallery. Also, can you imagine being Richard Dawkins and finding out one day that this man from a niche (symphonic metal is niche) style metal band has read your work and got so inspired by it he wrote a whole album about it and it was so good you end up performing alongside said band in front of however many thousands of people there were there? Because that must be wild.
"im very worried this is the wrong version" JOEY Wembley is not a bad version and it has Richard Dawkins at the end!! But Tampere yeah... was just much more awesome in scope. It's worth a watch if you want to take another dive!
Not sure. This one is just more balanced on the live instruments which isn't bad at all. You just hear more of the tiny flawed notes which are always in a live concert with live instruments and less of the background recorded choir and orchestra. It's more a question about how the post production was made I think. And maybe it's also that we're all used to the sound of the Tampere performance. Here as example Tuomas didn't make the small mistake he did in his keyboard "solo", you have Mr. Dawkins live, the instruments are more dominant and you hear Troy much better. But yeah, if I had to chose I'd take the Tampere version as well I think.
Haven't listened to this one in a while. So gorgeous and I always get excited about astronomy and biology when I listen to the lyrics. It makes me want to learn and discover more about our existence as a insignificant mammal on this pale blue dot. Because I realize that it is amazing we exist at all, and at the same time we are totally insignificant in the endless Universe. Or even for our planet. The Earth lives on without us, no problem. So lets enjoy our brief time in the Sun.
Here is a little analysis of the song that I found from comments one day from one Nightwish fan : Finally!! Here it is this Masterpiece in "normal" english, lyrics are in " " [ Part 1: Four Point Six] (age of The Earth) "Archaean horizon, The first sunrise" Earth's history is divided into four principal Eons: the Hadean, the Archean, Proterozoic, and the Phanerozoic. The Hadean is the Eon during which the Earth and Moon formed; in the Archaean, primordial life appeared. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Earth) "On a pristine gaea" Gaia is the primordial Greek goddess of the Earth. More recently, the Gaia hypothesis is a recognition of the living and nonliving Earth systems which form an interdependent whole. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia) "Opus perfectum, Somewhere there, us sleeping" Pristine perfection (of silence, of a blank page, of the very point from which the big bang itself sprung) implies a rich creative potential. Here Earth is painted in the same powerful way. Diversity awaits; unborn beings are sleeping the same sleep to which they will return at death. This interpretation is thematically linked with the album's opening track, "Shudder before the Beautiful," which includes the lyrics, "The music of this awe, Deep silence between the notes, Deafens me with endless love." Or as the furious hobbit screamed at the novice trumpeter, "An artist respects the silence, it serves as the foundation of creativity." (ua-cam.com/video/9E62iA6KCIQ/v-deo.html) [Part 2: Life] "The cosmic law of gravity Pulled the newborns around a fire, A careless cold infinity in every vast direction. Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone" Gravity pulls the Earth and its inhabitants around the energizing Sun in an otherwise inhospitable universe. Earth is the only planet in our solar system's circumstellar habitable zone, orbiting at the "just right, not too hot, not too cold" distance from the Sun. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumstellar_habitable_zone) "She has a tale to tell, From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast, Enter LUCA" In astronomy, stellar nurseries are the birthplaces of stars: they nurse stars (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_formation#Stellar_nurseries). Poetically, our solar system is another "stellar nursery," in which a star is the nurse, caring for and warming a planet of 'newborns,' early carbon-based life. "Feast" evokes the incorporation of plentiful chemical building blocks into rudimentary life forms. "LUCA" stands for "Last universal common ancestor," the one single organism from which all other presently existing life on Earth descended. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_universal_ancestor) "The tapestry of chemistry is a writing in the garden, Leading us to the mother of all" The periodic table of elements does look like a sort of patchwork tapestry, but this can go further. The historical function of tapestries was as "nomadic murals," pictographical histories which moving people could pack up and revisit wherever they went. The "writing in the garden," in nature, is not only the stone murals left by dead animals in the form of fossils, but is also this chemical writing that encodes the relatively nomadic DNA molecule with the instructions for life. The scientific investigation of this information leads us back to LUCA, and further. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapestry#Function) "We are one, We are a universe," This is the natural conclusion to draw from the fact that life shares common origin, that all life is built with the same blocks, and that all life on Earth is interdependent (gaia hypothesis). The multiplicity of beings on Earth are one, just as the cells in a body are one. "Forebears of what will be Scions of the Devonian sea." The Devonian geologic time period marked the first significant, rapid diversification of life (and the more well-known Cambrian explosion is another of these 'adaptive radiation' events). It was during the Devonian that the 'higher plants' appeared and blanketed the continents with forests. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonian). The word "scion" refers to a shoot of a plant cut for grafting, and is also used to denote a descendent of a notable family. Both meanings apply. "Aeons pass, Writing the tale of us all. A day-to-day new opening For the greatest show on Earth" Evolutionary adaptation is written in the DNA and as fossils in the rocks, and is ongoing. Species die, diversifiy and delineate. Every day is different, every day something changes. "Ion channels welcoming the outside world To the stuff of stars" Ion channels are found in the membranes of all cells, controlling the flow of energy through the cells. The stuff of stars is all the physical matter we're made of. So it's the ion channels, guiding enery, which allow living bodies to interact with the rest of the world by exchanging energy with it. "Stuff of stars" is surely a Sagan reference: "The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff." (For fun: ua-cam.com/video/XGK84Poeynk/v-deo.html) "Bedding the tree of a biological holy, Enter life" The bed of a tree is the nutrient-rich soil from which it grows, a soil made of dead things. The "tree of a biological holy" is probably the tree of life (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life). This line refers to the "holy" legendary tree of everlasting life but also means the conceptual, branching family tree of all life, whose bed consists of all deceased beings (in a more literal sense), or all extinct ancestral species (in a more abstract sense). This is thematically linked with the song "Alpenglow." "We are here to care for the garden, The wonder of birth Of every form most beautiful" "We" could be human beings tasked with acting as nature's stewards, garden of eden style, but that's not chronological -- human beings haven't quite appeared in the song yet. "We" could instead be all of life itself, in a gaia-philosophy sense, which posits that life creates environments ever more hospitable to more life. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_philosophy) Or maybe it's a combination of these two thoughts: life eventually creates an environment suitable for the development of consiously acting, thinking human stewards. [Part 3: The Toolmaker] "After a billion years, The show is still here. Not a single one of your fathers died young." Every single one of a given person's ancestors, male and female, lived past puberty at least. But "fathers" evokes "forefathers," which has a nicer storytelling ring to it than "parents." "The handy travelers Out of Africa Little Lucy of the Afar" Handymen are good with tools; travelers posessing hands rather than forefeet walk upright. Hominids originated in Africa and spread to the rest of the world from there. Lucy is a particular specimen of the Australopithecus, one of many "missing links" between modern humans and nonhuman ancestors. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_(Australopithecus)) "Gave birth to fantasy, To idolatry, To self-destructive weaponry. Enter the God of gaps Deep within the past. Atavistic dread of the hunted!" The brain grows, consciousness and creativity along with it. Atavism is the tendency to revert to ancestral type, an evolutionary throwback. Fight-or-flight instincts that helped human ancestors survive have now been creatively projected onto the world to both explain it (origins, meaning, suffering) and gain security in it (bargaining through sacrifice). These are the roots of theism. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atavism) "Enter Ionia, the cradle of thought, The architecture of understanding. The human lust to feel so exceptional, To rule the Earth" Nomadic people develop agriculture and settle down into civilizations. The word "architecture" is at once both literal and figurative. The efficiency of civilization graces people with free time to do more than just feed themselves. They develop rich cultural traditions, arts and philosophies, much of which are deeply influenced by how different humans now are from all the rest of life. "Hunger for shiny rocks, For giant mushroom clouds, The will to do as you'd be done by." Shiny rocks are wealth: gold, precious stones, jewels, and later uranium which leads to the nuclear arms race. The golden rule -- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" -- is a coin with a dark side: "an eye for an eye," revenge. This ensures the "MAD"ness of mutually assured destruction. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction) "Enter history, the grand finale. Enter ratkind." "Ratkind" comes from Richard Dawkins' book "The Ancestor's Tale." Dawkins imagines a post-apocalyptic world in which rodents feast on the remnants of humanity (and humanity's garbage). The rat population explodes, and then as they exhaust these resources they turn on one another for food. As a consequence of natural selection, the rats diverge into new carnivorous and herbivorous species, and perhaps, eventually, a specices of rodent whose intelligence rivals that of humans. This is "ratkind." (iberianature.com/wildworld/tag/ratkind/) "Man, he took his time in the sun, Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand." From William Blake: "To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour." ...And the story of the planet in 24 minutes. Not bad. "He gave birth to poetry, But one day'll cease to be. Greet the last light of the library" A bittersweet redundancy: poetry with library, the last light with ceasing to be. Reminiscent of Elan: "Be the first to greet the morn [...] Travel with great élan, dance a jig at the funeral." "We were here!" Who else is going to vote for this song's inclusion on the next Voyager golden record, if there'll ever be one?
Inspired by Richard Dawkin's 2009 book The Greatest Show On Earth. I miss the synchronized fireworks in this one. It's all Joey's fault🤣🤣🤣🤣 Floor: Enter LUCA Marco: Enter Terrionia Emppu: Enter Sandman🤣🤣
I like your idea about two stories in one song! Even when you've listened to it as long as I have, know all the words and sit here singing along, it's still not limited to just that one story. That's the magic of music, it takes us on a journey and the destination may be different every time.
Love the reaction, now that you've heard the song at Wembley , you have to see the version at Tampere. It is a different version but the same. Please please watch it to the absolute end. You missed at lot cutting it short.
Tuomas was an exchange student in his teens in the USA. His host family decided to take him to his first concert. It was Metallica. From that point forward he was heavily influenced by them and it shouldn't come as any surprise that Empuu tossed in an Enter Sandman riff.
it's also a nice play as the dawkins quote used (and references in verse happen towards it throughout the song) refer to the number of human possibilities in our DNA outnumber the grains of sand in all of the seas. So enter "Sand"man is quite appropriate just from that tidbit as well. It's also timed in the song to bring you to the "present" era.
Your face is showing the emotion I have everytime I listen to Nightwish! If I was a female, you would be my fav, dearest Arab Man! And in my eyes, Mr. Tuomas Holopainen is one of the greatest composers alive!
Oh I was almost in tears to see you missed the ending 😥 The best part of Wembley version is Dawkins' speak. Also you should def check out Tampere version too.
The Tampere 2015 version is the Greatest Show on Earth. This is the second greatest. But don't worry. It's still far better than most artists ever do. And there was Richard Dawkins live, if it matters something to somebody. And you cut it way too early. 😩🐫
Dawkins matters to me. Seeing a few enlightened young people in tears at the sight of him raised all kinds of feelings in me: 1) yeah, children are the future after all, 2) don't worship him, he's not a god, he's not infallible, he's a scientist who works with the best possible data available AT THE TIME. Anyway, it's natural to feel emotional at a Nightwish concert, so I'm gonna stop yakking.
@@thisworldofwater8017 I understand all of that very well. I just as a Finn prefer the Tampere version a little. Richard Dawkins is the "bonus" on this wonderful show.
I also agree that you should check out the Tampere performance as well. This is one of those that both bring different nuances to the same song. For instance you get to hear Troy on the pipes instead of using the ebow.
Learned a long time ago, Never stop a Nightwish video until the screen goes black. For sure on this one and definitely on the Tampere version After the Credits.
Do yourself a favor, and when you feel like it - just check out the Tampere live. For many reasons, it is even more impressive, and to their "home audience" too as it's in Finland. ;)
Wow... one of the most epic songs ever.. There another version of the song shot live at Tampere.. which has more production Get into the lyrics.... they are great... I’m sure another member of the Nightwish army would give you detailed explanation And yes... that was Enter Sandman and Bach. But you missed the last part... Anyhow... you go binge on it over and over... I know that every time I listen to this piece of art I get goosebumps... especially the last part of the song (the “we where here” part) and the part you’ve missed... No worries man... you’re not the only one... it happened to most of us on our first listen.. Rock on 🤘 love your reactions... and check the DM on Instagram... have something funny for you🤪
To be honest I prefer this version. Tampere is more visual but this one is more soulful and mystical, it really feels like you're in outer space and the atmosphere is chilling. Nothing can beat guitar playing Floor's part at 3:13 and even Floor's singing at 7:07 is more emotional and haunting here, I have a feeling that she sees what she sings in front of her. So I'd say you picked the right version.
JOEY how could you! Tampere is _the_ performance of Greatest Show on Earth. Wembley is awesome because Sir Dawkins is there in person, but Tampere is just visually, and audibly epic.
I think people are swayed more by familiarity tbh. I thought the vocal and instrumental performances and also the different choices they made in this one were stunning. We always get Tampere, it's nice to see the *official* version every once in awhile.
The Tampere version renders a greater spectacle, particularly with the synchronized firework display. But this one has a more beautiful intro, and Dawkins coming onto the stage at the end always makes me tear up. This Wembly version is definitely my favorite.
Tampere is to GSOE what Wacken 2013 is to GLS. It was a once in a lifetime performance and one of their finest hours. Please watch it, with the lyrics on CC - the lyrics are truly remarkable and make total sense of the piece from start to finish (literally!). Floor is physically and emotionally drained by the end of it, as are the audience.
Hi, die hard Nightwish fan here. Not mad you picked this version as opposed to the Tampere version. This one is special in its own way. It's got a lot of power AND it had Richard Dawkins. I'm just happy you reacted to this song at all. Thank you!
i was at this show the atmosphere was amazing one of the best gigs i have ever been too and at 76 yrs old i have been to a lot long live nightwish one of the most amazing bands on the planet
The Tampere version is definitely on a different level. But this one is is better for helping viewers understand the storyline. It has subtitles with the lyrics and the timeline is divided in chapters and you can see the titles. For example, the first chapter "Four point Six" - that's the age of the solar system. 4.6 billion years. It starts with that peaceful piano part - a cloud of hydrogen in our galaxy, a stellar nursery. Then the rhythm breaks - the violent birth of our sun, the initiation of the fusion reaction. Further on, formation of planets, impacts, collisions, the great bombardment... All leading into the next step: the first life form. And the next chapter begins. Life explodes. There are so many scientific references in this song I had a nerdgasm. Absolutely epic.
@@ArabManReacts Joey needs to find you an old (Black & White) James Stewart movie called Harvey. He and the giant _invisible_ rabbit seem to have a lot in common!
Actually I liked to see this version, thanks! Nice to see you entering this like an adventure story. Like the child we would like to be, amazed and enthralled. It shows from your eyes! So thanks again. 😊
No matter which version you watched, one thing still rings out, loud and clear. Nightwish are always great and never fail to impress. As commented repeatedly do yourself a favour and watch Tampere, you will not be disappointed. Love your reaction. ❤️🇦🇺🤘
I will probably be one of the few, but after having seen the Tampere version hundred times, this is musicwise, technically so much better. Musicianship without the distraction of effects. Troy's opening with the e-bow is breathtaking.
Woohoo! You finally got here! This might be the official version from Nightwish, but definitely check out the Tampere version as well. It's got a different arrangement (Troy playing pipes and whistles instead of the e-bow guitar) and some really, really sweet pyrotechnics (fireworks) that just couldn't be done at an indoor venue. On the other hand, this one does give you a guest appearance by Sir Richard Dawkins himself. Either way, this is such a wonderful song! Yes, you heard Bach in there - first was some sort of religious chant, then a harpsichord minuet, then Bach's Toccata and Fugue in Dm, then a banjo riff, Metallica, and an EDM techno-beat. Now go back and watch the ending! Floor: Enter LUCA Floor: Enter life Marko: Enter Ionia Floor: Enter history both: Enter Ratkind Emppu: Enter Sandman! The other NW song I suggest checking out two versions of is I Want My Tears Back. Probably 75-80% of commenters will recommend the Buenos Aires 2018 version, for the crazy crowd and Floor's dancing. The rest (me included!) will recommend the Wacken 2013 performance for the band interactions including Emppu pranking Floor.
one of the most beautiful songs ever made. I love your reaction. little remark on the side, at 23:40 on your video they refer to metalica. the guitar rif. Sometimes they slide one in
They (Tuomas) paid homage to Megadeath (Symphony of Destruction) when Floor was doing the reading near the beginning of the song, Metallica (Enter Sandman) during Empppu's guitar solo and Bach playing the harpsichord near the end. Superb composition!
Man, I always love your approach to music. "Two stories out of the same song" is a great way to do it, and Nightwish's unique creativity certainly makes it easy! Floor's parents were present for the Tampere version, so everyone was pretty damn crisp in that version. Yessir, that was Metallica you heard, and Bach, and Megadeath, and banjos, and an old latin hymn, and a couple other things I always forget. That section was the evolution of music in human history Enjoy your other multiple listens man, it's a ride every time
Aw awesome, I personally love the live in Tampere version but it’s cool because I haven’t actually seen this one before ! Love the reaction, you do understand the joy of Nighwish , Joey 😎🤘👍
Nightwish got an unexpected honor after releasing the Album Endless Forms Most Beautiful. The Band published the news below on their Facebook pages. My Sincere congratulations to Nightwish Band and to the Master himself, Tuomas Holopainen 🤘👏🇫🇮 ”One new crab species (Tanidromites nightwishorum) was named after us in honor in particular for our 2015 album, ’Endless Forms Most Beautiful’, about the evolution of life. The new species of crab was found in eastern Austria and lived during the late part of the Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago. While dinosaurs dominated the land, parts of Europe were covered by a warm, shallow sea full of life. Tanidromites nightwishorum was discovered in a fossil coral reef. Crab diversity and abundance exploded for the very first time in their evolutionary history during the Late Jurassic in central Europe. Thanks to Dr. Adiel A. Klompmaker and his colleagues for this truly fantastic honour (Adiel is curator of palaeontology, Alabama Museum of Natural History).
Nice, I love the Wembley version for Dawkins live at the end, and the differences at the beginning (with Troy). I love the Tampere version for the sound quality, the bigger stage, and Troy. Don't mind saying I tear up every time the "We were here" bit comes up. Makes me damned happy to be alive, even though I know we're fucking it up in a lot of ways. I hope on relisten you let it finish out with Dawkins :)
I can reccomend doing TGSOE again. And the Tampere version, till the end! Then you will are even more! The same for poet and the pendulum. Do it again when you know the back story. Love to see what you will say then.
JOEY!!!! This versions, good, because Dawkin's gets to come out at the end, but the Tampere one is on another level entirely. The camera work and audio mixing is also to my mind superior all around at Tampere. Still any version of this gets me going.
I don’t always watch an Arab Man do reaction videos, but when I do: It’s this Arab Man !!! Awesome job!! I always enjoy your Nightwish reaction videos. Hope you keep doing them!
People will kvetch about it not being Tampere, but this is a wonderful version. I love Troy's addition to the beginning, I actually prefer it. Thank you for doing more Nightwish!
It should also be said that for me you are the most pleasant and likeable reactor. I can see the genuine enthusiasm just through your shining eyes when you see and hear Nightwish.
Yayy you watched this song by NW!!!!! I agree with the others about Tempere and that you missed the end where Dawkins comes out reciting the two diffrent parts. He did one at the beginning and two at the end. The second recitation has hit me soo deep and I never saw it put that way!! For some strange reason I only watch NW reactions 😁😁😁😁 I know of many bands you might like reacting to though! Many from diffrent countries across the globe. Spain, Greece, Sweeden, Denmark and many others. The world is very colorful to see and enjoy 😁😁😁😁 The world is Our pallete 😁😁😁😁!! Nonetheless I so enjoy your reactions to NW!!! Yes Im still listening to older NW songs. For well over 15 to17 years I started in 2003. Ok now Im rambling Great Job reacting to The Greatest Show on Earth!!! Thanks for that!!!😁😁😁😁😲😯😜🤓!😂😅😆🤗!
Marko: Enter Ionia Floor: Enter Ratkind Emppu: Enter Sandman (Comment shamelessly stolen) Don't worry about this being the 'wrong' version. There's nothing wrong with either version, and if you'd done the Tampere version people would've told you to listen to this one instead. Both are good.
Well, at the risk of being controversial I like the Wembley version. Musically I think it's slightly better mixed, and I love Troy's e-bow work. Otherwise, great reaction as always!
After the "Enter Sandman" riff you can also hear a beat of EDM (it's clearer in the studio version) and it is because this part refers to the evolution of music. On the album, this is the last song. Many referred to their next album Human :||: Nature as a natural continuation and it is a concept album. The first song on it? It's called "Music". Side note: Joey should allow you to watch Ayreon - "The Day That The World Breaks Down" (the official video from Arjen's channel)
I'm so glad you did this version. So many people recommend the Tampere version only, and all that gives me differently is fireworks. I like both. This one shares Empuus sound better, and includes Dawkins himself!
You have to react to the Tampere 2015 version some time. It is outdoors enabling to use some special effects not possible at Wembley Arena. Also the bows they take and thanks to the audience at the end is so great to watch.
Great song. Deserves a second reaction. Please check out the Tempere version. All the way till the end. It gets even better. A song 4.6 billion years in the making. Tuomas compressed it into only 20 minutes. Just to say. !!!!WE WERE HERE!!!!!
You are one of the most interesting Arab mans I have seen for some time. Speaks perfect english, seems very western normal, like heavy music, is funny. Like the oppostite what I am used to from immigration to Sweden :) You would be most welcome here, keep upp the good work :)
You're not imagining the musical references. Before the Enter Sandman riff, you can hear Bach indeed, and before that an even older classical melody. And after the Metallica bit, an electronic beat. It's the history of music hidden within a song which itself describes the history of the planet. Who else does that... The lyrics are packed with references especially to Sagan's and Dawkins' work. It's the historical timeline of Earth, from galactic dust, coalescing, heavy bombardment, ocean, life, Cambrian explosion, humans, culture, science, machinery, war, the nuclear era, and finally a hopeful message that we can do better. You can spend hours decoding the references.
It's in every sense of the word a masterpiece. I keep reading the comments and giving it a relisten just to capture everything everyone is talking about. HOW DID THEY PUT IT TOGETHER!
Wonderful picture you painted for all of us. A voice calling to us from beyond. You are truly feeling this song without knowing the details. Tuomas is amazing at creating artistic pictures with music. The bad guy is Floor doing the commenting on the early formation of life on Earth. 4.6 billion years of the evolution of our solar system, the Earth, and all life on Earth. I am unsure of your beliefs regarding the formation of the universe. Evolution or Creationist? Well done my friend. Peace out!
ETA: I’m not going to give a run down of the whole lyrics but my nerdy ass was hyped when I caught all the evolutive biology references (took me a while bc English is not my first language)
Yes!
I literally got goosebumps reading this with the song playing in the background, pinning this to top!

@@ArabManReacts On top of all that it is the last song of a NW show....how crazy is that?!
Not that this performance is bad by any means, but you owe it to yourself to check out the Tampere performance of this song. It's just... Next level.
I agree, Tampere was a show and adventure on its own.
second that
Also watch it 'til very end of the show...

Yes! You skipped the Richard Dawkins part. The main reason to watch Wembley version 😲
Definitely wished you’d done the Tampere version, a much more impressive spectacle for your first listen. But super glad you did it anyway!
Agreed
The Tampere version is definitly much more impressive (no spoiler here)
That was my first thought, for a first time hearing the Tempere version is the best 👍🏻
They aren’t joking. As great as this is. See live at Tampere

Here it is this Masterpiece in "normal" english, lyrics are in " "
[ Part 1: Four Point Six] (age of The Earth)
"Archaean horizon, The first sunrise"
Earth's history is divided into four principal Eons: the Hadean, the Archean, Proterozoic, and the Phanerozoic. The Hadean is the Eon during which the Earth and Moon formed; in the Archaean, primordial life appeared. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Earth)
"On a pristine gaea"
Gaia is the primordial Greek goddess of the Earth. More recently, the Gaia hypothesis is a recognition of the living and nonliving Earth systems which form an interdependent whole. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia)
"Opus perfectum, Somewhere there, us sleeping" Pristine perfection (of silence, of a blank page, of the very point from which the big bang itself sprung) implies a rich creative potential. Here Earth is painted in the same powerful way. Diversity awaits; unborn beings are sleeping the same sleep to which they will return at death. This interpretation is thematically linked with the album's opening track, "Shudder before the Beautiful," which includes the lyrics, "The music of this awe, Deep silence between the notes, Deafens me with endless love." Or as the furious hobbit screamed at the novice trumpeter, "An artist respects the silence, it serves as the foundation of creativity." (ua-cam.com/video/9E62iA6KCIQ/v-deo.html)
[Part 2: Life]
"The cosmic law of gravity Pulled the newborns around a fire, A careless cold infinity in every vast direction. Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone"
Gravity pulls the Earth and its inhabitants around the energizing Sun in an otherwise inhospitable universe. Earth is the only planet in our solar system's circumstellar habitable zone, orbiting at the "just right, not too hot, not too cold" distance from the Sun. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumstellar_habitable_zone)
"She has a tale to tell, From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast, Enter LUCA"
In astronomy, stellar nurseries are the birthplaces of stars: they nurse stars (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_formation#Stellar_nurseries). (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_universal_ancestor)
"The tapestry of chemistry is a writing in the garden, Leading us to the mother of all"
The periodic table of elements does look like a sort of patchwork tapestry, but this can go further. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapestry#Function)
"We are one, We are a universe,"
This is the natural conclusion to draw from the fact that life shares common origin, that all life is built with the same blocks, and that all life on Earth is interdependent (gaia hypothesis). The multiplicity of beings on Earth are one, just as the cells in a body are one.
"Forebears of what will be Scions of the Devonian sea."
The Devonian geologic time period marked the first significant, rapid diversification of life (and the more well-known Cambrian explosion is another of these 'adaptive radiation' events).
A day-to-day new opening For the greatest show on Earth"
Evolutionary adaptation is written in the DNA and as fossils in the rocks, and is ongoing. Species die, diversifiy and delineate. Every day is different, every day something changes.
"Ion channels welcoming the outside world To the stuff of stars"
Ion channels are found in the membranes of all cells, controlling the flow of energy through the cells. We are made of starstuff." (For fun: ua-cam.com/video/XGK84Poeynk/v-deo.html)
"Bedding the tree of a biological holy, Enter life"
The bed of a tree is the nutrient-rich soil from which it grows, a soil made of dead things. This is thematically linked with the song "Alpenglow."
"We are here to care for the garden, The wonder of birth Of every form most beautiful"
"We" could be human beings tasked with acting as nature's stewards, garden of eden style, but that's not chronological -- human beings haven't quite appeared in the song yet.
[Part 3: The Toolmaker]
"After a billion years, The show is still here. Not a single one of your fathers died young."
Every single one of a given person's ancestors, male and female, lived past puberty at least. But "fathers" evokes "forefathers," which has a nicer storytelling ring to it than "parents."
"The handy travelers Out of Africa Little Lucy of the Afar"
Handymen are good with tools; travelers posessing hands rather than forefeet walk upright. Hominids originated in Africa and spread to the rest of the world from there. Lucy is a particular specimen of the Australopithecus, one of many "missing links" between modern humans and nonhuman ancestors. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_(Australopithecus))
"Gave birth to fantasy, To idolatry, To self-destructive weaponry. Enter the God of gaps Deep within the past. Atavistic dread of the hunted!"
The brain grows, consciousness and creativity along with it. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atavism)
"Enter Ionia, the cradle of thought, The architecture of understanding. The human lust to feel so exceptional, To rule the Earth"
Nomadic people develop agriculture and settle down into civilizations. The word "architecture" is at once both literal and figurative. The efficiency of civilization graces people with free time to do more than just feed themselves. They develop rich cultural traditions, arts and philosophies, much of which are deeply influenced by how different humans now are from all the rest of life.
"Hunger for shiny rocks, For giant mushroom clouds, The will to do as you'd be done by."
Shiny rocks are wealth: gold, precious stones, jewels, and later uranium which leads to the nuclear arms race. The golden rule -- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" -- is a coin with a dark side: "an eye for an eye," revenge. This ensures the "MAD"ness of mutually assured destruction. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction)
"Enter history, the grand finale. Enter ratkind."
"Ratkind" comes from Richard Dawkins' book "The Ancestor's Tale." Dawkins imagines a post-apocalyptic world in which rodents feast on the remnants of humanity (and humanity's garbage). The rat population explodes, and then as they exhaust these resources they turn on one another for food. As a consequence of natural selection, the rats diverge into new carnivorous and herbivorous species, and perhaps, eventually, a specices of rodent whose intelligence rivals that of humans. This is "ratkind." (iberianature.com/wildworld/tag/ratkind/)
"Man, he took his time in the sun, Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand."
From William Blake: "To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour." ...And the story of the planet in 24 minutes. Not bad.
"He gave birth to poetry, But one day'll cease to be. Greet the last light of the library"
A bittersweet redundancy: poetry with library, the last light with ceasing to be. Reminiscent of Elan: "Be the first to greet the morn [...] Travel with great élan, dance a jig at the funeral."
"We were here!"
Who else is going to vote for this song's inclusion on the next Voyager golden record, if there'll ever be one?
Inspired by Richard Dawkin's 2009 book The Greatest Show On Earth.
I miss the synchronized fireworks in this one. It's all Joey's fault🤣🤣🤣🤣
Floor: Enter LUCA
Marco: Enter Terrionia
Emppu: Enter Sandman🤣🤣
single grain of sand, man... :)
@@sublimeretrieval7832 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Enter Ionia. Meaning the Greco era. Where culture, philosophy and modern human thinking was born.
@@woutersmit7978 I think it was autocorrect
@@sublimeretrieval7832 I could have been under the influence of a couple of beverages when I reacted so future me feels like an ass..
Check the Tampere version. The combination with fireworks is mindblowing.
Your face is showing the emotion I have everytime I listen to Nightwish! If I was a female, you would be my fav, dearest Arab Man!
And in my eyes, Mr. Tuomas Holopainen is one of the greatest composers alive!
Nightwish - HOW IS THE HEART - ACOUSTIC - PLANET ROCK
After watching so many Tampere versions I almost forgot how amazing this M A S T E R P I E C E at Wembley was! Thanks for that! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
There another version of the song shot live at Tampere.. which has more production
Get into the lyrics.... they are great... I’m sure another member of the Nightwish army would give you detailed explanation
And yes... that was Enter Sandman and Bach.
Rock on 🤘 love your reactions... and check the DM on Instagram... have something funny for you🤪
Watch the Tampere version and watch till the end credits
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘😁✌🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh fantastic!!!!! So glad you finally did this Joey!!!! We Were Here!!!!! 😉
Hey, the song isn't over till it's over. The last minute was very important.
Check out the Tampere version also. Those visuals in that video are freaking insane
WE. WERE. HERE.
You and Joey owe it to yourselves to watch the Tempere performance. It's truly magical and brings this epic to a whole new level.
please , do it again live tampere . that is so amazing .
The geniune joy on your face is so awesome to see brother!, Nightwish has captured ya now. Cheers \m/
Joey!!! You should have picked the version with the lyrics and fireworks!!! Joey, I'm not mad, just very disappointed.
HAhah, the last sentence there, reminds me of a Norwegian commercial xD But yes, he should watch that one too!
It wasn't really over there. Hahahaha. A small part was left out. And the presence of Richard Dawkins. And yes that was Enter Sandman :-)
oh joey....
@@ArabManReacts Joey needs to find you an old (Black & White) James Stewart movie called Harvey. He and the giant _invisible_ rabbit seem to have a lot in common!
Yes and if you listen soem seconds before Enter Sandman , there is actaully a small medley being played that covers even classical music
@@gpikou Bach's Minuet in G, very soft, then like a lightning bolt, shifting to Toccata and Feugue in D minor. Good stuff! Too bad so many miss it!
O yes! Here it is! Dropping everything to watch this reaction. Like in advance.
Noooo :( You missed Richard :( :( :( You are such a warm human. I enjoy your reactions. Thank you :)
I knowwwww I didnt knowww sorryyyyyyyy
Floor: Enter LUCA
Floor: Enter life
Marko: Enter Ionia
Floor: Enter history
both: Enter Ratkind
Emppu: Enter Sandman!
Thank you Captain!!
one of the most beautiful songs ever made.
That section was the evolution of music in human history
Enjoy your other multiple listens man, it's a ride every time
Very deep comments in your reaction. Thank you very much for that. Greetz from Germany
My Sincere congratulations to Nightwish Band and to the Master himself, Tuomas Holopainen 🤘👏🇫🇮
”One new crab species (Tanidromites nightwishorum) was named after us in honor in particular for our 2015 album, ’Endless Forms Most Beautiful’, about the evolution of life.
I need more Nightwish on your channel!
1st Yes it is Bach
2nd Yes it is Enter Sandman
3nd Watch to the end for Dawkings speech
Great reaction and btw. i like both Wembley and Tampere
"The power of that break..." ... enhanced by Floor's wide-eye.. ;) (Gets me every time, every song) :)
Love the use of the Ebow on the guitar in this version.
Love how the play homage to alot of musical master works trough history and rock within the song as well.
I can reccomend doing TGSOE again. And the Tampere version, till the end! Then you will are even more! The same for poet and the pendulum. Do it again when you know the back story. Love to see what you will say then.
"A siren in the galaxy".....nice 🍺😁
Been waiting for you to to this one.
Thanks. Keep on Nightwishing on.
🤘😜🤘
Hey! Thank you SO much, you put a huge smile on my face,
People will kvetch about it not being Tampere, but this is a wonderful version. I love Troy's addition to the beginning, I actually prefer it. Thank you for doing more Nightwish!
It should also be said that for me you are the most pleasant and likeable reactor. I can see the genuine enthusiasm just through your shining eyes when you see and hear Nightwish.
Wlik
In fact, I'm grateful that this video isn't what I clicked on, because now I'm going to watch it again from start to finish.
AAARRRRGGGHHH... You missed off the end. It's so worth it for the audience.

Don't worry about this being the 'wrong' version. There's nothing wrong with either version, and if you'd done the Tampere version people would've told you to listen to this one instead. Both are good.
I like your honesty, but let me be sincere: everyone of us (me included) would have been the GENIUS who first thought that line!😉😉😉

I’m still hearing new things in this song even after all this time. You’re absolutely right.
That Metalica riff is a fantastic touch! All the love
Well, at the risk of being controversial I like the Wembley version. Musically I think it's slightly better mixed, and I love Troy's e-bow work.
Otherwise, great reaction as always!
Love from Serbia to Lebanon 🇱🇧
this song is pure ART
Tampere is the ultimate version. They do something wild in the introduction and the ending is epic!!!
Man!! My favority song! Epic!
Thanks, waiting for Tampere version too

Great reaction thank you! I love to watch the Tampere version but I have this version on my phone which I listen to daily :-)
floors voice is absolute perfection.
Great reaction...should definitely watch the ahow in Tampere🙏🏽🤘🏽
Nightwish will continue to be an interesting band to follow as long as their reach continues to exceed their grasp.
Just watch how much ridicule I'm about to get, too, despite Joey using the NW official video.
Great reaction man!
Yup, Tampere is a must view!
JOEYYYYYYY!!!! (but in actual reality every version of this song is amazing)
This version has better audio, but the outdoor show at Tampere with the fireworks is spectacular. You should check it out also.
this video should be shown in schools
Great reaction, love your reaction overall but it's sweet.
You are one of the most interesting Arab mans I have seen for some time. Speaks perfect english, seems very western normal, like heavy music, is funny. Like the oppostite what I am used to from immigration to Sweden :)
You would be most welcome here, keep upp the good work :)
If you watch it again, go to the real end, they were not finished yet but thank you for this video.
I don't hate and we were here Wow !!!!!!! US Army vet .
Tampere performance of this song. It's just... Next level.
story is the birth of the universe and our journey thru time
Wonderful picture you painted for all of us. Peace out!
Thumb is up before the vid starts.... you are soooooo gonna love this.... hehehe...
everybody saying this is the less impressive version, but I just really appreciate the volume of Troy content in this one
Great reaction. I hope your next listen is the Tampere version. It's just tears in the eyes magical.
Every performance is a different experience so I suggest if you want to, to react to Tampere's version. I'd watch that video! !
