From an outsider's point of view (not someone who is in Kyiv right now or have listened to Belgiums song on a regular basis) I really thought Blanche's performance was one of the worst of the evening and the quality of the song couldn't save it. I'm VERY surprised it went through!

There's an official ESC video that ranked the all time Top 10 Eurovision highest views that includes Loreen, Mans, Conchita and he is in it. That's not just on UA-cam. So I would say he's popular.
People like him because they're saying he sounds like Sam Smith and the song apparently is like Adele's. I myself think his voice is soulful like Marvin Gaye or something, it's not my music style I listen to EDM lol. I heard his song on the radio about 6 times today and the whole week, so he's getting air play. There is something unique about him, so ppl voted for him today.
Umm, i was only listening to a livestream so maybe the quality wasn't the greatest, but in what world did Greece sound good?! To my ears at least half of that song was almost painful to listen to.
Finland`s song was way too similar to the Netherland`s song few years ago by Anouk "Birds". ballades are usually sooooo boring.. there must be really "something" to be good. even Czech was better than Finland and Portugal. but that`s just my opinion. I really don`t understand what people find from the Portugal`s song. I couldn`t listen that from the radio cos I would just fall asleep during that. sorry.. anyway, my favorites were Belgium, Latvia, Greece and Sweden and 3 of them got into the final. I`m happy.. hopefully on thursday my country, Estonia, will be on final as well :)
I´d rather listen the cliche song that is interesting than a boring slow song that makes me tired. but Portugal has been at Eurovision since 1964, 49 times and never won. and this year won`t be he`s year either. maybe they should change something about their national semi-finals/finals to have some great song and to be able to finally be the winner. and thought they`ve Never had a song in english, they should try once, so people would understand what they are singing about. though, if song is really good, then english is not needed to win. and non of those 49 songs haven`t been good. Portugal should think about that and maybe change something about the way they choose a song. their songs last year were better than this year`s song, but I don`t understand why suddenly people like this one? I find it silly..
your "Oliveira" already shows that you`re from Portugal, so no wonder you`re pissed off :P but that`s not my fault that the best place Portugal ever got, was 6th place. it might got to the final, but it won`t be in top 10 there anyway. Yeah I think so too. This is probably why he scored higher with the juries. Very soulful voice. I think Top 5. This is damn good entry.
