Would any of those backpacks be able to hold a 2 inch binder, 2 composition notebooks, 3 folders and a lunch box? I'm looking for a new backpack for school and want those features, and it needs to be able to hold all that. Thanks in advance!

is a sternum strap a must or is it just not necessary?

Only if you have a pretty heavy bag will they help. If its less than 10lbs you probably don't need a sternum strap! If you are hiking with a heavy bag, definitely use a strap.
