Good eye Timo E. Haven't you seen Terminator or Battle Star Galactica? Robots with AI !! It all started in the Ernie Ball Factory with that buffing robot. Damn you EB and your super efficient robots!!!!
Man, I'm so jealous...wish I could play the guitar! I can't imagine what it feels like to pick up this guitar and actually be able to play it...must be an amazing feeling and sense of accomplishment. I'll resign myself to listening!
Fascinating to see the process of them building this guitar. Especially since when I got my first Musicman JP guitar, I treated it like it was made of glass(still do haha) and then here they are beating it with hammers, ironing it, and cutting it to pieces. Obviously there's still a lot of care put into it but it's still ironic to me. MM has made some incredible instruments with JP.
Its nice to see the work that goes into these guitars by man and machine. Helps also with the price tag. Your getting more than just an average guitar. But a bespoke piece of sonic art.
Hey John I like your now guitar it is very cool nice color to it I bet it has a very nice sound to it keep on rocking John petrucci with dreamtheather a friend of mine has the same look but it got clipped by a nane bet my friend still plays it
I have this guitar. I must say my skills don't deserve a guitar like this, but I can tell you it's worth every penny. I loved my Fender Strat until I played this one and now I can't stand to play anything else. Was set to buy a Jem777 but was not impressed. Then read someone mention this guitar in a Jem777 review and wow, love it! Great craftsmanship. And the sounds are amazing. Extremely versatile
I just boought mine 2400 usa. It is amazing. Plays fast, sounds epic, with the included pezio system it makes it so unique. Buy one you will not be disapointed
i own a jp 7 guitar and i really like the sound the feel etc. i never watched before the building process of a music man guitar, i realized that the entire guitar is built by machines (except some parts that have to be made by human ) and is not a handmade guitar as they say, i also noticed in 1:38 that the body is made by 2-3 different pieces of the wood that they are saying they use to make a body (i am not saying about the top - toneblock - body ) that affect the sound.
I wondered if that was Travis when I first saw his face in the vid. Sure enough. I have some of his older CDs. Lots of fun to listen to. I got to get me one of JP's guitars.
I love this guitar, bought this one with the roasted neck, and because I am built like John, this guitar feels like it is apart of me. So if you are a big guy with large hands, then this guitar should fit you good. The one thing I don't like is the tone switch can be in the way sometimes. But not that big of adeal.
Whenever I see a production line making my favourite guitars, I always think of that Malibu Stacey factory in The Simpsons. -"Aw, crap there's a jam in the torso chute. Leroy! Get yer ass in gear!" -"Shut yer hole" ***shoves a mop into the chute****
@Shredpolice; the name of the tune is Barrage a Trois. It's off his Burn Season CD or you can watch the band play this and others on the Rate of Change Live DVD. Hope this helps!
yeah the KOA is a standard BFR model. The JPX, JPXI, JP12 all have a different body shape (bigger body and different shape to the upper horn). That's more what I was getting at. The JPX Body style, chambered upper horn, and a figured top would be sweet.
As much as I hate 5-way switches, I'd still kill for this. ALthough I still love my original Mystic Dream JP6 :) Should've kept the scoop though, its ridiculously comfortable
So awesome and I'm not a guitarist either. The only thing wrong with this video is Petrucci doesn't play on it. Other than that, damn what a process to make one of these things!!
nicolashrv double that price my friend.. here in Norway you actualy have to pay betwene 2'000 to 5'000 USD for a brand new one from a shop (not ebay) for that masterpiece. depending on the Model ofc
I used the JP6 to design a custom guitar off of due to not having a complicated trem that still works like a Floyd and its lower horn cut shorter. I am in control of its design completely which is cool, I felt his JP6 was a good foundation to build from. I changed the wood type with a proprietary idea I am waiting to see if it works out and if it does I will update. The guitar I am building is meant to be a system to scientifically control sound waves and their behaviors because I believe it will result in shaping tone and achieving a harmonic balance. If I am correct it should come to be a better sound or at the very least a unique sounding guitar. I am incorporating a ton of ideas from both my own and others past and present artists. Its more of an experiment and if it turns out shitty I can just build another with other parameters once I analyze why it didn't do what was intended. Prototyping is the best part of engineering anything. All guitars are built off base designs its just most of the time people choose either Fender or Gibson as a base. Music Man guitars are unique enough it should deviate from this general assumption of "if I create a guitar like Fender or Gibson it will automatically be good regardless if another company's base design is better. I am also considering basing the neck profile off the Ibanez Wizard neck. It has proven interesting so far.
John Petrucci has become Musicman. Without him and the sales of his line of guitars the company would not be where they are today. Forget about the Stingray line of basses as compared to the revenue JP generates.
Technically, companies can get away with saying that because people still put the pieces together via hand and put on the strings and so forth. But a truly hand made guitar is made with only hands and basic tools. The body and neck is cut and sculpted by hand. The frets are cut and seated by hand. Everything on a truly hand made guitar is done by hand. In this case, with Ernie Ball and other manufacturers like Jackson, the guitar is MADE BY MACHINES, and then PUT TOGETHER by hand.
always love watching videos of guitars being created.
LOL at 5:20 the robot is holding the body up like it's looking at it "still needs a little buff there"
Good eye Timo E. Haven't you seen Terminator or Battle Star Galactica? Robots with AI !! It all started in the Ernie Ball Factory with that buffing robot. Damn you EB and your super efficient robots!!!!
ITimo E
The buffing robot looks so sick!
When it comes to buffing, robots leave humans for corpses!! Lol!
"I'm a fan of deep, dark purple." Clever, John. Like Steve Morse, and Deep Purple.
No joke everytime I see a Music Man JP I want to cry cos I don't have one.
John is a fantastic player and a first class guy!
I still calling them, but they won't make my signature version and send it for me for free. What am I doing wrong?
pplobr what are you providing for the company
YellowCharizar d, you're not John petrucci. That is the problem.
not selling millions of records to start with
Tell them you play the guitar and you're friends with Ernie.
Me either dude it sucks.
Leo still lives on with Music Man.
Man, I'm so jealous...wish I could play the guitar! I can't imagine what it feels like to pick up this guitar and actually be able to play it...must be an amazing feeling and sense of accomplishment. I'll resign myself to listening!
These are some of the best guitars on the planet!
Nothing like watching the guitar you're saving for being built. Thanks EBMM.
Guy is sitting on top of the world!!!
I love how it looks.
I love my JPXI! Have had it sent its initial release and its been a rocket ship!
I've watched this video so many times, I think I could make one
Ya la agregué a mi lista de regalos para esta navidad, Santa Claus... 😍
Gracias John por tu aportacion.😉
My jpx-7 is currently being made :,D!!! CANT WAIT!!!
To anyone wondering the songs are As I Am by Dream Theater followed by Barrage A Trois by Travis Larson Band, that's him playing the purple JPX
Its nice to see the work that goes into these guitars by man and machine. Helps also with the price tag. Your getting more than just an average guitar. But a bespoke piece of sonic art.
Had mine over a year and still love it. Best guitar i've owned
Hey John I like your now guitar it is very cool nice color to it I bet it has a very nice sound to it keep on rocking John petrucci with dreamtheather a friend of mine has the same look but it got clipped by a nane bet my friend still plays it
and i made a phone call and they said "yes my king, it shall be done"

I cant express my desire for any 7 string version of any jp model ernie ball music man.
That ironing scene was king of stupid looking :P
Just noticed the guy demo'ing the JPX is Travis Larson. I met him at Guitar Center 2 weeks ago, he was playing at a Clinic. Cool guy.
This guitar is perfect!
brilliant guitar , just about every musicman version I've picked up is quite nice
This is my dream guitar!

That is one sexy axe, love the color
It sounds like a dream.
Theater
instresting to watch how much care and time and quality they put into making these beautiful guitars....And its good to know you get what you pay for
Even the tape dispenser is automated.
The way petrruci talking can make everbody love guitar
This is a really cool video.
Context is everything! ( 6:36 ) : "Let's try something different for the tenth anniversary… well do a five way!""
plays like a dream!!!!!! xo

O zamanki hali ne kadar tatlı. Ne de olsa italyan. Şimdi ayı yavrusuna çevirdi kendini. Yine de hastasıyım
what an amazing job O_O
Like x a billion! so true! ive had one of these for a while now and i cant agree more :)
Dang. I wish I owned a left version of this guitar. Definitely my favorite MM JP variation.
What i do to sticky necks is spray wood polish on the neck, polish it, and it works like a charm!
Planning on the JPX in Black Sugar with Roasted Neck... Holy shit, I'm saving, saving, saving.
@TheNohcim I got this one in the end. Absolutely awesome guitar and i love the 5 way blade
Whenever I see a production line making my favourite guitars, I always think of that Malibu Stacey factory in The Simpsons.
-"Aw, crap there's a jam in the torso chute. Leroy! Get yer ass in gear!"
-"Shut yer hole" ***shoves a mop into the chute****
10th aniversary....video has exactly 10 minutes... Petrucci never fails
I'm guessing this tone block is there to keep him from ripping the tremolo out of the guitar.
So basically a regular JP15 signiture. Just built different
@BoogyWoogyCreep cool, thanks man!
one of the best in the world
my dream guitar
well before neckthru - love watching machines
@Shredpolice; the name of the tune is Barrage a Trois. It's off his Burn Season CD or you can watch the band play this and others on the Rate of Change Live DVD.
Hope this helps!
lol love the iron at 2:02
this guitar is THE guitar.
yeah the KOA is a standard BFR model. The JPX, JPXI, JP12 all have a different body shape (bigger body and different shape to the upper horn). That's more what I was getting at. The JPX Body style, chambered upper horn, and a figured top would be sweet.
I have the stealth version. Awesome
As much as I hate 5-way switches, I'd still kill for this. ALthough I still love my original Mystic Dream JP6 :)
Should've kept the scoop though, its ridiculously comfortable
I wanna one of this...
the guy playing the guitar in the video is Travis LArson, coolest dude ever
i want one!!! now!!!
Best guitars in the world
Who else agrees that the Roasted Neck versions of the JPX are fucking sick?
I'm so fucking excited to get my XI!.. I love watching reviews of these guitars.
they feel great not too sticky but if you do get one you can try sanding the finish off
So awesome and I'm not a guitarist either. The only thing wrong with this video is Petrucci doesn't play on it.
Other than that, damn what a process to make one of these things!!
considering the price of this guitar i thought that it would have been more hand made rather than machined.
Programming in itself is probably a huge part of that price.
It is hand made. Even boutique manufacturers use similar machines.
"Custom made" guitars cost much, much more my friend.
Ozznize is the only way to mantain "equal" quality on all the production. Otherwise it will be a unique guitar, and will cost USD 5000-10.000 each.
nicolashrv double that price my friend.. here in Norway you actualy have to pay betwene 2'000 to 5'000 USD for a brand new one from a shop (not ebay) for that masterpiece. depending on the Model ofc

its not THAT expensive, sure, more than most guitars, but OH so worth it :)
BABY IM COMING!!! :D
JP 4 ever \m/,
holy christ. i just bought an ibanez prestige. i was soo proud of it. this vid makes me want to take that guitar right back to the fuckin store man.
hi, this is Jesus Christ from dream theater
Dan Cortes I don't know why but this made me laugh😂😂
guitar jesus hmmm... heck yeah!
I’ve met the man, and he definitely gives off a great vibe. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is Jesus Christ.
Lol!
my favorite one of the x's models
John Petrucci has become Musicman. Without him and the sales of his line of guitars the company would not be where they are today. Forget about the Stingray line of basses as compared to the revenue JP generates.
Did he say he has "average hand size"!?
I mean is one thing to be humble, but that shit...
Mind you this was uploaded April 2010
I think the 3-way switch is for selecting the output from either piezo, magnetic, or both.
Technically, companies can get away with saying that because people still put the pieces together via hand and put on the strings and so forth. @xDreamTheater92 Proud to say I am going to buy one tomorrow :)
What a bold price tag for a CNC made Lego guitar. Hardly any lutherie here. If it wasn't for JP, i doubt it would sell.
someday, someday........... stuck with the older JPs for now.. not that, that is a bad thing... :)
saving up for a musicman JP guitar XD
