Thanks for watching. I do appreciate you noticing how I approach these reviews. I like to call them "information reviews" rather than pad them with hyperbole.
I saw a photo where metallic green Nichicon electrolytic capacitors can be seen on the phono board. These are non-polarized electrolytic capacitors that last not forever and are probably not intended for the operating voltages.😉
Very well done review Chris. The flexibility and adjustability of the PH-1000 is amazing . I’m not sure I could justify the entrance fee. Great to know it’s out there and I value your opinion! Thanks, Bill.
Thanks for watching. Most certainly, the PH-1000 is for a small subset of turntable/vinyl enthusiasts that run mutlitple turntables/tonearms. Also, only a few collectors will have a library of pre-1955 manufactured records to fully take advantage of the EQ Curves settings. Even still, if you are primarily an analog guy, the ability to act as a line preamp direct to your amplifier would be appealing to many. Of course, you can buy the phono stage version for $12K. Better yet, and the real bargain in all of this is the PH-10 phono stage that Gold Note sells for $1600 (USD).
Great review, thanks....I'm in need of a phono preamp myself (can be part of a preamp) seems my Linn Kairn has died...would be mated to modified LP12/Shelter 9000....I like the idea of the Puffin linked to a good dac via coax, but its hard to get a handle on whether that is a step up or not....I want to make forward progress...any thoughts? Timberal accuracy, soundstage important aspects in my view
Thanks for watching. I currently use a VPI Cyclone cleaner. I have experimented with many cleaing fluids and homw brew but mostly use the VPI concentrate. I do have a DIY "bubble" cleaner but don't use it a lot. Interestingly, as I have refined an optimized my turntable setup over the years, my vinyl gets quieter? I think cleaning is important but turntable setup plays a big role. Maybe I will do a video on turntable setup?
Thanks for watching. Can you suggest another product that combines the ease of use, range of features and performance that rivals the PH-1000? I did some research came up empty.
@@DIYHiFiLife Try the Mola Mola Lupe Phono stage built in the Netherlands, it's as versatile as the Gold Note, sounds truly fantastic, has as many if not more EQ curves to choose from and looks better. You can customise it to suit your tastes and It's also £2,300 cheaper than the Gold Note PH-10.

Did or could you post reviews on the PH-10 and the Gold Note turntable?
Thx
How do you clean your albums, inquiring minds want to know ;> }

@@DIYHiFiLife Yes please do that, thank you for the intelligent content
Did you buy it from Russ
Thanks for watching. Russ was very kind to loan the PH-1000 to me for a few days.
Not the best, but certainly the best phono preamp made by Gold Note
