Thank you. I have owned one of these units for years, but never got it to work. I just tried my unit, following your instructions, and found it works as it should.
Thanks so much - I've had one of these given to me years ago by an electrician who didn't think it worked - I guess he didn't read the instructions. Then the parts got separated so I'd forgotten that that there were two until I found your video (no wonder the thing didn't make any sense...). Then, miraculously, I found the comrade of the gun and tried it out and IT WORKED. Mine is a Sperry CS 600 so it's a little bit different - doesn't have the trigger and, unfortunately, the outlet part does have three prongs - my house is old too and has mixed outlets, some grounded and some not. Anyway, I'm now looking forward to solving the mystery that is my breaker-box. Thanks again for such a clear well-made video.
Thanks for the excellent video. I did read the instruction and found them lacking. Never was able to find the dial they refer to for calibration. Now realize they were referring to the trigger.
Hey man, I don’t really ever leave comments but I just wanted you to know your video was soooo much better then the other explanation videos of this tool. Thank you.
Another nice thing with the Sperry having no ground. You can buy a cheap $2 light bulb outlet to plug adapter and use it to test which breaker light fixtures are on as well.
I read the instructions but they didn't convey the simplicity of operation as you did. I got frustrated with multiple breakers beeping and just gave up. Was going to toss it, but now I'll keep it.
Good video, and I have this model. It seems to be too weak to keep the connection between the sender and receiver if the signal must penetrate the walls of the house. My circuit breaker panel is in the back of the house, outside. The light on the receiver went out as soon as I left the house; as soon as I walked back into the house, it went back on. And the receiver makes no sound when I pass it over the circuit breaker.
After the initial calibration between the transmitter and receiver, is a recalibration needed each time that you move the transmitter to another outlet? I have several to test, and I'm hoping I do not need to waste time walking back and forth numerous times.
Yes, you need to recalibrate each time you move the transmitter. I do it pretty slowly in the video to show what to do but it just takes a second. You may want a partner to help you move the transmitter if you don't want to do the back and forth.
@@wgfinley Thanks, I should have been more clear, I meant the calibration at the transmitter, that must not need to be done each time as you reference using a helper to move the transmitter. I appreciate the video, it is very helpful.
36 dollars in my area. It doesn't work. Transmitter is garbled and receiver doesn't test to it. Perhaps WrenchTechGuy got lucky and got a working product. Happy it worked for him but I'm going to suggest, spending money on something of quality - unless you enjoy returning products to a store until you get one that works.
Tip: open the circuit breaker panel and scan the wires directly. Do this at your own risk, obviously. imgur.com/awHKgCX For some of the circuits in my house, the signal from the transmitter was too weak for the detector to pick it up through the breaker switch itself, but scanning the wires always worked. Many thanks Guy for the video!

Exactly! I have done just that with it!
After watching this I’m going to test mine out because I didn’t read mine too and thought I got something that didn’t work
Thanks

Thank you! Great video for those of us that are to lazy to download the instructions!

bought one today, works just fine, if outlet is compromised it will not work(loose wire etc.)great for mapping out the circuits
what happens when your circuit hasn't got power to it , how do you find out which circuit is on?????
I think you are right on. Why buy a contractor grade tool if you don't need one? These work fine when used properly.
Finally... Instructions that make sense!

I cover this at 4:30

Jim Hegarty you only need to calibrate at the breaker box. I just showed it at the receiver for demonstrating how it works.
Thank you! Been struggling with this one
Got one today at a yard sale for $2.
Awesome deal.
Thank you so much Guy, really helpful.

knew i was doing something wrong (lazy). thanks OP and youtube
Excellent video thank you very much!
Mine didn't come with instructions

Hahah, yeah, that's when I'm calling an electrician if I'm in that situation!
Good video - thanks. This tester works when used per the instructions.
Glad to hear it worked out for you Mike!
what is the range is that an issue?
Mine just work! had to put it directly on the wire. Not the breaker
I must have found an old one. There is no trigger
I'm buying it. Thanks.
2:35 how it works
Mine works just fine read the instructions

As of Jan 2, 2021, mine cost $30.

Holy shit, way to used the whole English dictionary to get a sentence worth of important info.
Amazing to me how going green has something to do with no directions provided in the package???? Stupid
It doesn’t work!!! Garbage product!!! Been trying for an hour it’s not picking up
Same here man. Guy, can I ship mine to you to see if it's just me..? I'll pay for return shipping as well.
Well, it worked today so let me keep testing. Maybe it works well on Wednesdays. ;)
