      It must be really challenging to keep it in tune, because of having so many brass instruments. Every change of temperature would detune it, especially if it faced into the Sun.

    Is this the only Model 175 Military Band Organ that WurliTzer built? I read about organs like this in a book by Q. David Bowers that mentioned Wurlitzer records of how many organs they built of each model they offered. Were the largest band organs built on an as ordered basis?

    • @wurly164
      @wurly164  3 роки тому +1

      This organ was built about 1917, wurlitzer also built a 164 at the same time. Both organs are the same pipe wise except the 175 has the second set of bells.
      The larger organs usually had brass and were more for skating rings.
      I don't believe they were built to order but were ordered for their size. Much smaller organs were built in larger quantities because they were easier to sell with say a carousel

    • @CBF1
      @CBF1 3 роки тому +1

      Wade's siren videos Yep it's the only one. The factory records list it as a 166, numbered 3200: this organ's serial number.
      2 166's were produced, numbers 2945 and 3001. 2945 burned in a wooden shed. 3001's fate or whereabouts aren't known to me.

    • @CBF1
      @CBF1 3 роки тому

      @@wurly164 Totally a shame it is. More 165's, 155's and other large organs should've been ordered. At minimum I'd say 50 at least for idk, each? Maybe.

I'd consider McDonough's Ruth 36X to be a part of the 165 family, it has a similar and slightly bigger capability than the 165 but it DOES play 165 rolls... and it plays the same musical keys(F/C/G/D) and has similar instruments to a 165.
