I am very grateful to be a NC A&T Graduare Class of 1997. I entered A&T as a returning student from D.C. Althoughit it was a culture shock my first two years being in Greensboro NC and at A&T, I soon learned to embrace the differences of being in a new environment and the support sand the positive energy that I was recieving at the time. NC A&T Thank You for the great experience. AGGIE PRIDE!!!!!!!

During the late 1980s (… 1989 to be exact) at an A&T convocation program, (while giving remarks on stage) then-Chancellor Edward B. Fort reflected upon Dr. Ron McNair (space shuttle astronaut & molecular physicist) and Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. (civil rights activist), 2 of the University’s many famous alumni. The loss of Dr. McNair in the tragic 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster a few years back was still in recent memory, and Rev. Jackson’s historic runs in 1984 and 1988 for the US presidency immediately came to mind. After mentioning McNair and Jackson, Dr. Fort paused for a moment, and then said, ‘A&T, … there’s no place like it. From astronaut to president, we have them all.’ I was an A&T student in attendance at that convocation. The sentiments of Dr. Fort (still at A&T as Chancellor Emeritus) made an impression upon me, and I still remember those powerful words today (2020), as though they were said yesterday. A&T is a giant, particularly in STEM, and epitomizes the tradition of collective Black excellence via HBCUs. AGGIE Pride! (from Baruti, A&T STEM alumnus and DARC (Diaspora Afrikan Renaissance Channel) commentator)
