Ive been a metal head all my life, grew up hearing old timey music like this, country,m blue grass, folk, etc. Hated it for years. Recently I have been seekiung it out and loving hearing it. I am glad to have found this chaneel!!!
@@bingfutch For sure! There is a game i play called SCUM, and in this game you have radio stations. ONe plays bluegrass and has some really good tunes, I don't know who any of them are however. Thanks again!
@@bingfutch Just wanted to let you know that I ordered my first dulcimer from Folkcraft this morning. I ordered you book for beginners too. As soon as I find out whether the strings are attached with loops or balls I’ll order some 0.12 strings so I can tune DAA. I’m not the slightest bit intimidated by such things as tuning and basic music theory, so I might start with your book instead of more elementary ones that I also ordered just in case I find out I SHOULD have been intimidated. It’s happened before. Thanks so much for all the helpful things you’ve posted on YT. I’ll try to work through them all as time permits. I’m a hospice medical director still working full-time at age 73, so I can’t devote as much time as I might wish. Speaking of wishes, my best to you, Michael Shea (Yuma, AZ, where I might be the ONLY dulcimer player).
Really enjoyed the tour especially since I'm originally from Indiana, however I lived in Western CT for 14 years and had the opportunity to visit the Folkcraft store in Webatuck, NY where I met one of the owners and was introduced to the Dulcimer. I had a custom Martin tenor guitar I had made out of KOA. Before I left I bought a beautiful KOA dulcimer, a 3 1/2 octave hammered dulcimer, a Celtic Harp, and a bowed Psaltry. I have moved to FL and play my mountain dulcimer often and still have my Psaltry but have sold my harp and hammered Dulcimer. Folkcraft is an outstanding builder of quality instruments and I always look them up as I travel and come across one of their sales outlets.
@@timblack6422 I can help you with that, as a dealer for Folkcraft, and get you a discount that's not available direct from the factory. Take a look at www.folkcraft.com/collections/design-your-own-mountain-dulcimer and choose your desired specs. Then send them to me at bingfutch@yahoo.com and I'll give you a discounted price. Now I am excited just a short time before finding this UA-cam video I purchased a FolkCraft dulcimer !! Pacing up and down already waiting for FedX ,,,!! So glad I choose these folks ! What a awesome shop wow ! I learned some things to !!
Yes I most certainly did. Professionally shipped. Beautiful craftsmanship of an instrument. So glad I held off on purchasing the cheaper imported version. Getting started on practice. Last instrument was a mandolin my hands and fingers not in cooperation of those small fret boards at all. Thanks for your inspirational UA-cams Bing !! They will be of help.
Hey Joshua, I live just south of OKC and started playing dulcimer this past August, now have 4 in my possession. Really love my Folkroots CSH. Dulcimer clubs are hard to find around here, but hope you get one....did I say just one?
The tune is called "Shady Groove" and it's on "Dulcimerica: Volume 3" - bingfutch-com.myshopify.com/collections/bing-futch-cds/products/bing-futch-dulcimerica-vol-3 - thanks for watching!

You should look up Quintin Stephens for the two-handed tapping he does with the electric dulcimer. He's very much a shredder!

Thanks for the great tour! I wish I could visit, but Indiana is a long way from Yuma County, AZ. And I love the music - so much fun! ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! If you ever get up to the Fort Wayne area - you should stop by (call first!)
