    I’m mixed race and remember being called the n word by a classmate in 6th grade. I told my teacher and because I present as white they literally didn’t do anything. My heart goes out to your nephew. I’m glad he has such supportive adults in his life like you and Joey!

    I don't roll my sushi, I just make it as a sushi salad. I add my rice, vegetables and whatever fish. Then I make a *dressing* with some soy sauce, and rice wine vinegar. I use the nori on the side or crumbled on top of it.

    I’m sorry about your nephew it just the world we blacks still live in. I can assure he may have learned it from the his own family. Hopefully not though. I don’t know the case. Heads up for your nephew been such a courageous and strong young man. His integrity will take him far. Show no attention to ignorance and just let God take over situation. Surrender it to God. It will be okay. Thank you for sharing your wonderful meals. I love so much when come on UA-cam. Makes me happy and gives me motivation.
    Congratulations Joey for your weight loss and you to Amanda!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!

    Amanda depending how low your carbs are you do need salt that’s why they promote electrolytes. When you have high carbs and high processed foods they store sodium. Just some info 😊

    • @AmandaLewis
      @AmandaLewis  2 місяці тому +4

      I know I need salt that’s why I have salt and I’m not scared of it. I just was stating to those who have commented before “that is so much sodium” to hush because it’s not too much it’s just the right amount ❤️ salt is good has minerals we need 🥰

    I’m so sorry that happened to your nephew. You would think this day and age that this would stop, but I don’t think it ever will. My nephew and his girlfriend are going to get married someday and they’re an interracial couple and I worry about them and the children they will have someday. People can be so hateful which is why I prefer animals. I need to find those feta stuffed olives. I’ve not seen them before.

  • @myebonytower

    I’m happy you addressed the issue. I was thinking how some parts of Florida is kinda known for being racist. Let your nephew know it’s because that kid is probably jealous! I played Field Hockey in High School and being the ONLY black kid in the league AND being on the BEST defensive team…..I got called the n word and even had a chick hit my finger with her stick!!! I chased her down the field as parents and coaches chased me! 😂😂 it’s best to let him know the reality of being Black in America….he can DO and BE ANYTHING….but, folks will always call out his color and he will need to work HARDER. 💯. Thank goodness he has family to help him love himself and his culture and be a proud Warrior! ❤ FYI. I’m craving Sushi now, thanks. 😅

    • @AmandaLewis
      @AmandaLewis  2 місяці тому +1

      Wow that spoke to me! You chasing her and the parents chasing you speaks volumes. You are 100% correct though it stems from jealously because he is an amazing player and everyone loves him he is a born leader and the kindest boy. It’s definitely something he is aware of and his parents, his grandparents, and myself all speak to him about and prepare him the best we can ❤️ thank you for your comment and insight on this truly I appreciate you!!

    I'm so sorry that your nephew is dealing with this-bless his heart for being such a sweet soul. I can't imagine the hurt that comes along with it. I am by no means condoning that child that said it, but is there a chance that they did not mean it trying to be offensive? I am only asking as we recently had an encounter while on a camping trip and our son (he is caucasian) was playing basketball with a black boy and that boy called him the same thing. Thankfully he just blew it off (but again a different situation as he is not of any color) but we had to have that conversation. I'm not sure the boy even thought twice. It is such a sad world we live in though and so many people will carry opinions not realizing their children are observing. Again, I am so sorry your nephew has to deal with this. You have such a beautiful family no matter what color! My heart breaks for your family and all of the hate that the world holds. Much love and hugs!

    • @AmandaLewis

      I think he is aware of what it means because he won’t admit to saying it because he knows it was wrong and he could get kicked off the team :/ he also has called him a monkey a few times so he knows.

      @@AmandaLewis That breaks my heart for your nephew! Gosh! Some parents just have no clue on how they're raising their children to be hateful!

  • @AyeKay220
    @AyeKay220 2 місяці тому +2

    I should probably think of a thoughtful and graceful comment… but idc.. that child is saying that because they (obviously) heard someone else say it, and it’s on the parent to figure out where if it didn’t come from them… and make their child offer a sincere apology. The fact they’re denying/ignoring it speaks volumes.

    • @AmandaLewis
      @AmandaLewis  2 місяці тому +4

      Girl no don’t! That is how you feel and I was livid and still am but had a few days to try and calm my nerves so I can speak about this here because I want this to be a conversation so white people learn. It 100% is from home and or school and when you brush it under the rug that is equally as racist as saying the word. It does speak volumes and we all see it for sure!

    I was watching the rest of your video and I am appalled that some kid called your nephew the N word!! Was he suspended from the team? Did the coach take any action? My son, who is 37 now, is multi racial and I swear to god if someone called him a derogatory name when he was in his sports at your nephews age i would have wrecked someone!! Its not a mistake so don't excuse it as this.

    • @AmandaLewis
      @AmandaLewis  2 місяці тому +1

      No your right it wasn’t a mistake and if it was a mistake he would of apologized. I didn’t mean it was a mistake when discussing it I meant some kids do make mistakes and that is when they own up to it and apologize / learn from it but this situation is not that. It’s so upsetting!!! As of now he is still on the team from what I know 🫣

      @@AmandaLewis JP is an awesome kid and a great player and if this was to happen again, he should call the kid on it by saying "whatever the kids name is, could you repeat what you just called me or said to me? Also did you mean to hurt me or embarrass me by saying this? Well you didn't and you just look like someone who is desperate for attention or jealous, so please never say that again or i will report you and my parents will ensure there will be consequences .
