I’m on day 1 of my journey. I’m 13 and I want to become a better soccer player. I’m not the best on my team, far from it. I want to maintain this routine: 30 minute jog, 30-45 minute workout in the morning. Then at 4 pm I want to practice soccer for 3 hours. So this routine will be done the days I don’t have team training and the days I do, my routine will be tweaked. The hardest part is motivation. It’s only day one, but today I learned take it day by day. This is my journey to the pros. P.S my stamina isn’t the best so that’s why I want to jog and do things like that. Everyone else believe in yourself. Take it Day by day
You really be blessing us with the right videos at the right time is like you know where in our journey we’re at. And you rl be motivating me to post 🤧
I feel like building connections as a footballer is very important to open new doors, even as a D1 athlete, building connections help!! It’s helped me get where I am today. Agents can be hard to get and work with and I agree when you say they’re misconceptions because there is bad and good connections you need to be careful who you build connections with! At the end of the day a player should always help another player, we all want the same dream at that level! Great Content Matt! A good listen for young Athletes!
From my experience connections come along by just doing the right thing. I have just gained a couple of great connections just by going to a 1-1 coach, Its really helped offer me some opportunity! Just keep doing the right things and people will have good things to say about you! Great informative Video Matt!
So glad you made a video about this! It’s so critical to success in soccer but also life overall! When I went to a D3 school I thought there wouldn’t be that many connections, but our own Athletic Trainer was a head trainer for the SAFC academy, which is in the USL Championship, and my head coach played with Zac Lublin, the starting goalie at Phoenix Rising which is a USL Championship team 40 min from my house. You never know who knows who, so branch out and ask questions!
Networking is HUGE for footballers, and I wish I knew that earlier. I had so many offers to play in college from just networking alone. It’s great that you are giving out this information that many people may not have really understood 🙏🏼
Really eye opening video which revealed a lot to me. As someone who in the last few weeks has experienced a renaissance in my mindset towards performance and my goals in soccer, I cannot thank this video enough for detailing the process of moving up the ladder. Clear as I could ever want it. Bless you Matt, hope you’re well and hope we can speak soon. Peace x
Yep true connections work started fowling you back when you only had 10 thousand subscribers. And I watched the blog when you went to Ottawa in 2019 for OPSM. So the following year I got my Dad to take me this year drove 5 hours met you 👍 they liked me and now OPSM is working with me all because of watching you thanks Matt.
I really love the way you explain these complex ideas and misconceptions in a simple and effective manner. It’ll help so many players looking to build their careers.
Much needed video Matt! I really needed to hear this especially being on my journey now and trying to play in Europe next year! I now understand the importance having to perform at your currently in order to go up too! 👊🏾
Dude you inspired me big time, I’m now on the path to getting my first pro contract later this year in the MASL. I trained with a pro indoor team last year and learned under them all season long. Thank you Matt, your knowledge and advice has inspired and educated me. Hope to see you play pro indoor someday, maybe we can swap jerseys.
This video is so helpful, I love that you are going through and covering almost every single topic of the journey to pro football and explaining it from your own experiences.
Rn i just finished my local club teams career and ready to go on to the next step -- academy teams, already got into qpr and im 10x better than what i was 4 months ago. Wish me luck!
My current coach was a former 4th division coach in Germany and was a trainer for 2 third division teams as well. I know for sure that he will be a great connection.
Kids view connections as extremely important because at high level club they are...you’ll have kids making teams they shouldn’t every year just because of friends on the team/friend with the coach
I skipped the first 3 on the ladder and im on the semi pro/collegiate level i started at 18 been training alone almost everyday thats what happens when you work hard, and sacrifice time
Using connections is much more of an American route thing. I went through the academy system in England and went to college in America also. In England, and Europe, if you're good people will come to you. No where in England can you email a head coach or a teammate to get you a trial like you can in America. Americans are to focused on connections. Simply, if you perform wherever you are, you will get noticed.
Can u do a Q&A next video because we all have questions like mine is what’s the difference in Europe and US and how higher is the intensity in Europe then in the US
But if you look at top club academies like la Masia, Manu academy, Ajax or another top European academy they sign a pro contract at 13 or 14 and they go directly to the first team at 17 or 16
Thank you it really frustrates me, I play academy football in the UK and I always get people asking me for the academy managers phone number and I’m just there thinking you cant just call them and ask for a trial.
I heard that an agency and agent is different and you would have to pay an agency to acquire their services as opposed to an Agent securing a you a club where eventually the club pays them and you don't pay a penny
so true. I use my friends as a back connection . I emailed a coach and he didn't responded I then message my friends who actually gave me in his number and then i got in the team .
Hey thx for the vid it was a great video And me being young I made better bonds with the people that I know have great potential just in case They can help me out.
Hi matt, I was wondering if connections in English football was different because it seems like the only way to step up from your local team is to get into and academy, which is a big step. Is there any in-between that will help you move into an academy?
shelovespolo do what you know and pray and trust in God, and He WILL guide you and make your path straight. It’s a dark road that you can see far into but the Bible will be your light. God bless you, I know it looks hopeless but its not praying for the best for you bro✝️❤️
So my issue is that our travel program is insanely small. Nobody’s ever heard of it, we play 8 games a season, and one game you can win 13-0 and lose 6-0 the next because of the randomized competition. I also go to a 1A highschool, a very successful one in sports but 1A nonetheless. How credible will I seem to coaches at the higher level due to my background, is it gonna be drastically different?
This year will be my first year as a freshman and I feel like I can play jv or an academy team because I work everyday and I'm good but there's one problem my parents don't make enough money to pay for the academy teams or the jv
Matt please can u tell me which apps did you use or still use now to build connections locally as well as internationally. I m asking this because I'm an Indian and wanted to build connections in football world as a player. Please help
Hey Matt U probs won’t c this but how can u go from like a low league club with no scouts watching to a higher league if that makes sense since nobody is watching u. I feel like I never get offered a chance
I feel like become elite has inspired me to become a better soccer and a better person

so both of my coaches are former pro players that played for F.C Dallas in the MLS but I’m too shy to ask them for connections. (I play u-16)
You have to do everything to become pro
if u truly want it then u gotta get it regardless
I’m the same way I get to shy to ask
@jordy the menace what team do you play with fc dallas Junior team academy or select fc dallas
just do it bro. they’ll actually be happy you asked
Much needed video Matt! I really needed to hear this especially being on my journey now and trying to play in Europe next year! I now understand the importance having to perform at your currently in order to go up too! 👊🏾

You won't read but You've helped me so much in such a short time for getting the ball rolling for when I grow up and want to start going pro

Make a video on the differences between you and a top tier European player in a huge club
Hey mat you should do a video of what a retired player does after that play for usl !

when should you get an agent
What do you think like younger player who have a 21,22 years old so it's possible to be a professional soccer player or it's now to late??
Hi matt, I was wondering if connections in English football was different because it seems like the only way to step up from your local team is to get into and academy, which is a big step. Is there any in-between that will help you move into an academy?
Almost 18 and playing for a club that I’m not so sure will do good this season :\ I feel like it’s too late for me already
Its never too late! Get active! Go to a trial and ask your trainer where you could go to play higher! Believe in yourself!
Marvin Boe I train almost everyday of the week hoping I get an opportunity. I guess the state where I’m from , there’s not much I could go
dont give up!!!
Where u from?
shelovespolo do what you know and pray and trust in God, and He WILL guide you and make your path straight. It’s a dark road that you can see far into but the Bible will be your light. God bless you, I know it looks hopeless but its not praying for the best for you bro✝️❤️
I'm 13 and play for a local club team but we play in a competitive league with academy's do any of yall have advice

Also, there’s pretty much no option to play at a higher level around here. Small area.
Matt, would you recommend trying out for two different academies at the same time, if you can? Or not?
Definitely try out for both that way you see the difference between the two
This year will be my first year as a freshman and I feel like I can play jv or an academy team because I work everyday and I'm good but there's one problem my parents don't make enough money to pay for the academy teams or the jv
Highlights?? You dont need money, we need vids to show ur effort
Matt, where is 2minute tuesday. I really missed it
Make a video with david rowley
Matt please can u tell me which apps did you use or still use now to build connections locally as well as internationally. I m asking this because I'm an Indian and wanted to build connections in football world as a player. Please help
Hey matt the website captain u that you are advertising, can foreign players use it to the same effectiveness to link up with college coaches?
Are you going to make a new programme soon
I just want to see you play for a big team. Fingers Crossed.
Can tryouts help ?
what do you mean by networking resources
How to go pro from college?
How old do you have to be to tryout for your local upsl or npl team?
Hey Matt U probs won’t c this but how can u go from like a low league club with no scouts watching to a higher league if that makes sense since nobody is watching u. I feel like I never get offered a chance
is 20 years old too late to start playing professional? lets say i am above average in terms of skill level
Never too late bro trust
Matt at what age should u start getting noticed to play college
When you go to college
When will training videos comeback
Is the app capitan u only for USA citizens ?
