The $100 gift card has been found! Congratulations @TimeKapsuleTK 🤘(it's at 20:43 if you were wondering) Original pinned comment: We're back! Please watch all the way through if you can, this video needs all the help it can get 🥲

Half of my comment is already back, now for the other half for the algorithm gods: I'm impressed by what I've seen from this machine so far and while I've never been too keen for apple products, I can totally see why this might be a good solution for a lot of people. Thanks for your great video - again!

I was amazed a couple years ago when getting into 3d and realizing that macOS QuickLook supported stl files. I think apps can add their own support for additional formats.
you know that trying all this on linux is going to be a torture fest .. I’m here for it ! .. also yay @23:51 .. this guy needs to be in the linux vid if it’s made .. the perfect witness to the misery as it unfolds.
You should play around with the Parallels settings some more if you do switch back to Mac. The killer feature for me is that you can put it into a passthrough mode where every windows app gets wrapped into a native Mac window so you can seamlessly use the two OS's with windows from each sharing the screen more easily. Another nice one would be checking out Freeform maybe. You can actually drop 3d files into the whiteboard and mark them up and such.
Digging this kind of content, it's always cool to try new things. Virtualbox (100% free) is my go-to for when I want a VM for testing stuff but it seems like you got it all figured out regardless. I've been building/managing systems since the late 80's and I've reached a point where I just don't care which OS I have in front of me - they're all good. It's kind of like miniature paints nowadays: there's no wrong answer, use what you like!
I really enjoyed the video. I grabbed the base m4 mini as my PC was 10+ years old and the thing is just magic. Its not taken long to get use to using a mac.
That is a very impressive little machine. I downloaded Quick look and Quick share off the back of this. Quicklook is really great, just what I didn't know I was missing! I will get to having a play with Quickshare later.
I also love building computers. I built my first one in 1988, after four or so years of upgrading my Leading Edge Model "D" on my own. I've been building them for my whole family every two or three years ever since. As well as lots of upgrades in between.
Like I said before (Couldn't resist. Sorry, not sorry. 🤣), I really like how you focused on useful, practical measures of performance versus specs. Yes, benchmark stats are useful, but the more important stuff is how things work for you day-to-day. Loved this video!!
I think the code is Yea Ok Fine, You Fu**** Legend. I know others mention the Captch and I saw that but I think you went another direction. Regardless great video. I cant believe you decided to upgrade instead but appreciate your perseverance. You even taught me some new Mac things and I have been using them for years! Thanks for all you do.
It wasn't an easy call but it was the right one for me. Super impressed by the Mac but making that transition to the OS would be a long and painful road I think

I use a MacBook Pro with an M2 Pro chip for the vast majority of my 3d printing needs, including Fusion and Blender. Works fine. I've got a Windows PC, but I don't use it much.
Good vid. Hopefully the new PC works out better, video editing hardware-software is often obnoxious to get going correctly. I would like to see a Linux version, although I know from experience this won't be a smooth process, and I've been using linux since around 1993. You can definitely do it though, but yeah.

It would be interesting to see 3d printing on Linux. I think it'd be awesome to have a 3d printing workflow running completely in docker containers. I've seen people running cura and octoprint in containers but not any other 3d printing software.
“Power” is really hard to comment on. Apple’s current goals seem to be focused on power per watt efficiency while a lot of desktop PCs are favoring pure power.
Mom I'm famous! As I commented in the previous video, I would be happy to see a similar video about Linux. I recommend you to use a separate hard drive so you don't have to partition your windows one
I have several Macs, newer and older. I also have several PCs. Mac is great for video, image editing, and 3D modeling. PCs are good for the same (though the UI of windows sucks), but the upside to a PC is the GPU - the video card choices. Put a Nvidia 4080S or 4090 in a PC and your Blender rendering times are significantly decreased. For me, this is the best reason to have a PC - when you need to perform intensive GPU tasks. IMO, use a Mac for most day to day tasks. Use a PC for GPU tasks. If you’re not doing big renders, don’t use a PC. The apps are basically the same on both platforms.
