French Commando 24 hour MRE - The Best Military Ration?

- Hi everyone. Today we are testing at a French Commando Ration Type T Menu 1 (Expiry 2024). This is a 24 hour ration that contains a great selection of food. I have reviewed a French ration in the past, but this is for the French commandos. In this video we'll look at what a French commando would receive and taste test this interesting MRE. French rations are usually fantastic, so I have high hopes for this one. Will is be as good as previous rations? Will the French retain their place at the top of the best MREs?
I have reviewed several military rations and have a lot more coming up in the future.

Its crazy to think that french soldiers eat better, tastier and relatively healthier than what? 80, 90 % if not even more of the whole world
From the rations I’ve seen, the French is the by far the best in terms of taste…. followed by the Russian white star ration and then the Australian (but they are still way behind the French! 🇫🇷
well the french army put a huge investment on the taste and quality of the food, most army, for exmeple the USA put the nutritionnal value of the food first, hence the food taste like shit but it will keep you moving

If you want to listen how it sounded like for Napoleon's troops you can listen to "Le Chant de l'oignon" which is available on youtube with Engish subtitles, the diet quite changed.
Tho I think France is a nation only thanks to reciprocal love of it various "terroir" and that make us very considered in term of food, so yeah, ,any kings, emperors and president know if you don't fill French's belly your life is threatened

@@GreeklishOutdoors well, not sure it will teach you anything about actual soldier rations but it's a soldier song talking about fried onions telling you can achieve anything with it and that Austrian won't ever have it
There is probably many French article speaking about how much real it was but most folk song are not that factual and it's known to be the first real french war song (first substantial representation was in 1797) by official army (because revolution had a lot of song too but not as official tho our anthem is from 1792 and that's why a lot of Lyrics may match especially hate toward Austrian)

That muesli you’ll find in the French MRE’s is among the best I have eaten.
My oreference goes to the choco version, the red fruits one is good as well.

Your microphone worked great btw! I have to say this/RCIR, the Spanish and the Italian 24hr rations are the ones I’ve wanted to try most especially when it comes to the mains. I don’t have a lot of interest in the fruit or nougat bars tho.

Thanks my friend. I’ve yet to try the Italian rations, but I would love to. The ones I see available have been expired for 3 years. The Spanish are good as are the Russians, but the French 🇫🇷 remain supreme 😁

I’ve had lots of US MREs and they are always reliable if not a little artificial tasting. In fact, I have a new batch to review 😁🤪 🇺🇸👍🏼

There doesn't seem to be any difference in the contents of those soft packages to those cardboard RCIR packages. I myself have three of them in different colors on the shelf, I just haven't had time to open them yet.
My humble opinion is that those fruit jelly bars are too sweet for my taste.
The microphone worked very well. BTW, you can light a fuel tablet with one match if you light it by holding it in your hand until it lights up.

Yes those fruit bars are very sweet. But as I’ve been on a diet for a while, it was a nice treat 😊

It is normal to properly feed these men and women who risk their lives for the security of their compatriots and the interests of the nation.
Let's say that for us ordinary French people, food made from cans is not considered healthy food, even if we must admit that the menus and main dishes are made by great Chefs (well, they don't make them). they themselves develop the recipes).

Yes I agree, you definitely need to feed the fighting men and women well. Yes the canned food it’s not something you’d choose to eat from everyday, but the chefs designed a great selection of dishes. The French rations are probably the best quality and tastiest I’ve tried so far. All the best 😊👍🏼🇫🇷

En Afghanistan, il était possible d'échanger une ration française contre trois rations américaines, mais on ne le faisait pas.

le poele est en faits tres pratique est facile utilisation il faut pas oublier qu on doit s en servir aussi bien en milieux desertique que tropical mais un jour jespere qu il feront de meilleur biscuit car c est le truc le moins bon
Oui, ce n'était pas trop mal. Je préfère toujours avoir un réchaud dans une ration, plutôt qu'un chauffe-ration sans flamme (à condition qu'on vous donne suffisamment de combustible) 😊👍🏼

few words about Cassoulet as it's one of my favorite dishes, french or not ;)
it's speciality from AND around south west city Toulouse, "the red city"
I said "and" because local little war about where was created the "real" cassoulet, Toulouse or Castelnaudary :D :D :D
there was no duck meat was in saussages.
Duck was piece of meat, very fibery. to my knowledge, it's usually the one from Castelnaudary, the one from Toulouse usually with pork meat.
Then u had one slice of smoked pork sausage and full sausage is "saucisse de Toulouse", from pork also.
Name "cassoulet" comes from the claypot it's traditionnaly cooked in (cassolette) , and it later became "casserole" in french language . it's a few centuries old actually but can't remember precisely.
In supermarket you can find very bad but also pretty good canned cassoulet. the one u had looks like in the upper range. In France the upper range one i buy is pretty cheap, almost 900g tin for 5/6€.
But the best of course would be if one day u can try real one overthere, but also tricky because it's local folklore, so it means MANY tousits' traps where u'd eat worse than french MRE for 20/30€ ! :D:D:D
I guess u could have googled it, and maybe u did, but i wanted to share as i love cassoulet :D :D :D

I love the French RCIR but I found the packaging was a problem for three reasons. 1. The cardboard box quickly perished once the plastic cover was removed. 2. The rectangular shape didn’t lend itself to putting a few days supply into a ruck sack. 3. The whole thing was heavy.
I guess the plastic packaging in the Commando ration has solved a lot of these problems.
I agree, the original cardboard box had issues. I certainly was a bit ridged for a backpack. This design is much better. The food was always great and this ration is no exception. All the best 😊👍🏼
Just for fun, do you know why there are often prunes in French rations? to go to the toilet, for intestinal transit, we take care of the soldier at the entrance and the exit... 😂

So basically it's a standard RCIR in plastic bag instead of a cardboard box....lets call it Commando ....obviously great food as always but disappointing because I was expecting something different from the norm
Yes more or less. I was also expecting something quite different. There are other variants labelled “Marine” or “Special forces” which are the same. After seeing the contents of this I decided not to buy them. As you say it’s still a great ration, but I agree, just a relabel. Have a great day 😊👍🏼
