Soooo a couple years ago my husband, boys and I were riding bikes at the beach on 4th of July and when we saw you we stopped and my husband excitedly shouted "hey i know you guys!" then awkwardly rode off. We were laughing so dang hard and I almost peed my pants. We felt like total dorks and felt so socially awkward! We still laugh about it. Anywhooo, we dig you guys and love what you do and who you are :)

It is so refreshing to hear that you two take the time to assure Eli that the conflict is not on US soil . Watching the news is so terrifying for adults and small children with their vivid imaginations can be scary.
You two are the best and I so love your podcast when you just chat. Thank you for allowing me to be privvy to your everyday thoughts and feelings.

Ex germ a phobe here. Used to bleach my house every morning at 4:30 am. Wouldn’t go to movies, because of lice. Wouldn’t go to restaurants because they didn’t sterilize their dishware, etc.
Thankfully, I overcame it 25 years ago. Not sure how I would have dealt with 2020. I have been extremely healthy for several years now, keeping a VERY strong immune system- which includes exposure. Best wishes for overcoming germophobia.

Now you know why Idaho was so appealing to you. It's who you are, it fits your character and personality. I think we gravitate towards environments that feel real and comfortable and secure to us. Deb and I live on an Island in Washington, maybe that says something about us. We've been away from our home of Idaho for 21 years now. At almost 70, we pray that our journey ends where we started. Your family is truly blessed and we so appreciate your kindness. ❤

I think that’s what I enjoy so much about your channel is that I can tell it’s genuine and not contrived. It’s not “big business” to you guys. It’s down home, good quality, day-to-day real life living. It also probably helps that we’re the same age, I turned 40 in May. But your content (for lack of a better word) is so relatable.
If you think about it, y’all live opposite of the main stream. You raise your children with careful intention. Y’all enjoy working and doing things together, as a couple & as a family. You do what you can to protect and cover your children and give them a quality upbringing. It’s just more of what this world needs, in my opinion. 😊💕

My family and I live in the mountains of East TN and find that we just don’t really fit in. We are about the same age as you guys and homeschooled our kids, have similar views, etc. I feel like we just speak our minds and have gotten to a point where we are ourselves and just don’t hold back. People don’t always get or appreciate that. Keep on being you! ❤❤❤

My husband has no filter & I love to stand back to watch the faces of people he is talking to for the first time. One second his brain thinks it & the next it comes out of his mouth. Some people didn't know what to do or say so they too just walked away. A few times he has been told that more people should say what they really mean. Just keep being your wonderful fantastic self. How can you story board when you just invite us in to see you living your day to day lives. A lot of what you share is how you humanely live your lives. That shows in how you reassure your children, include them, educate them. Your outreach to help others shows the depth of your humanitarian bent and your kindness. I would love to sit and have a chat with you two. I really enjoy you, your openness and honesty.

As a fellow quirky introvert who can be an extrovert if I need to be, I totally get you! I’ve been a stay home mom for the last 9 years and also the legal guardian for my dad who’s in a nursing home with dementia, and I’ve been very isolated, and I literally consider you guys my friends. I don’t have any sort of online fame, I don’t want anything from you, just your friendship. I love and appreciate you guys because of your family values and religious beliefs, and to me your family is a breath of fresh air. I’d probably be uncomfortable at one of those gatherings as well. 😅 Texas is beautiful, but I don’t like big cities and their freeway entrances and exits are annoying, lol! Plus I’d rather have the stars over the big city light pollution at night. In my little town we don’t have street lights in our neighborhoods and I appreciate that. As far as what’s happening in the Israel-Hamas situation, there are good and bad people everywhere, and I stand with people who love God and don’t want to hurt others. I feel like this world is going downhill fast and it’s scary, and every night I hug my family tight and am very appreciative and thankful that we live where we do. I worry for my daughter for her future, she’s only 9, and I can’t imagine what the world will be like when she’s 45!! Never stop being your authentic selves, you guys are an inspiration to so many, and I love you all dearly.❤️ See you Saturday and I’m so excited for the toy drive this year!! ❤️🙌🏻
Also, where are Chip and Joanna?!?! 😩🤣

I laughed at your spaghetti roads comment. I lived in Japan for a decade and I describe the roads as a big plate of spaghetti and you are trying to go from one meatball to another on one noodle. I love your GSL Uncut. It feels like I am sitting right there with you. Also enjoying your approach with Eli. This is why we need mom and dad in the family. Children need both approaches and sides. Soft and hard, strong and tender.

Just continue to be your wonderful self Melissa! Believe it or not, people that we think are judging us are not even thinking about us one way or the other. I had to use that to get over my serious social anxiety. I laugh at all of you guy's jokes! None are duds to me, lol. I think all of your followers probably have the same sense of humor. It is very refreshing! As far as having kids and worrying about germs, I totally get it. It felt like my kids were always getting sick. One would throw up, then the next. The next week, someone had a cold. They kept me on my toes. As your kiddos grow older, especially growing up on a farm where they spend so much time outside, and taking care of the animals, they are busy building up a great immunity. You are wonderful parents and are doing a great job! It would be a problem if you weren't questioning how you were trying to explain to your children they are safe in the sometimes scary world. Love your channels and all you guys do! :) Looking forward to the live stream on Saturday! I'm hoping to see Jeremy riding Debby in the T-Rex costume, lol.

My dad was at Pearl Harbor on a ship in the harbour. He grew up during the great depression. This colored him as my parent. We didn't have conversations about this, much to my regret. Only one conversation that I can recall, when my husband interviewed him for a college project. I am so grateful to have heard some of the conversation. War is awful on the innocent.

Another Great pod cast... ( VID CAST ) I tend to think along the lines of Jeremy when talking to our kids about world events, so I understood and got what he was trying to say. My kids are now all in their 20's the youngest being 25 and in the Space Force, but when they were younger 8 and so forth I was more in line with Jeremys approach. The worlds a beautiful yet dangerous place and I wanted my kids to be prepared for it. I can see that you do the same so this is not a slight in anyway. As a Texan, I am glad y'all got to come down and check us out. Texas does have some mountains, just not like them beast in your backyard though. lol. El Paso TX has some beautiful mountains that I miss on a regular basis. I appreciate your realness and your down to earth values and approach to life. I cant stand fake kindness, and you all don't give off that vibe at all. I tend to be blunt as well do to these factors that I would rather respect you and be honest that be disrespectful and lie to you. That does not mean I have to be wicked or mean when doing so, and I feel you all tend to do the same. Here I am writing a book in your comments section.. My apologies. I wanted to to leave a link to the Selective Service ( shorturl.at/oqsxF ) for you to read, I know back in 2016 there was a ruling that removed the gender requirements to the draft, but the link will clear that all up. Again sorry for the very long reply... love ya guys, dont go changing, and keep doing it is what you do.

I watch a few YT channels & the thing that attracts me most to a channel is the authenticity of the people who produce the channel. It’s actual real life not fabricated, acted version that TV produces. I also don’t expect to know intimate details nor any personal stuff that these channel producers don’t want to share but your real authentic personalities is what I want to know. Real and heart warming to see. Just the fact that you as a couple exist tells me that there is hope for men and women to build a life of joy together. I pray my three granddaughters are blessed with the wisdom to work at marriage as you two have. I know it is not easy and it really takes work. God grant you many years. I just want to say that I always look forward to your podcast and your weekly videos on your other channel. We appreciate the love and respect you provide to your children. It is so refreshing! Y’all are funny, authentic and would totally scare you if we ever met! I’m also an introvert but would totally gush and give you a hug, from one motherly mom to another! 🤗 😂❤🙏
Also, we live just one hour south of Waco! Glad you enjoyed the Texas hospitality and endured the IH35 traffic between Dallas and Waco. My condolences 😂
Thanks for just being yourselves! ❤

Solidarity to the socially awkward peeps! I'd love to chat and be socially awkward with you; it'd be fabulously awkward!
In all seriousness though, I really appreciate your honesty in terms of the conference, because it can often seem like everyone gets on and collaborates seamlessly which I think could be setting some newer UA-camrs up for failure. A more honest balanced view of conferences like this feels like it could be extremely beneficial to people starting out. And for fellow introvert/not introverts, it's reassuring to know that not reading the room can be the norm even among successful UA-camrs. ;)

I get you guys! I’ve been hooked on Good Simple Living precisely because you’re not only so down to earth and easy to relate to, but here you are an amazing family doing extraordinary things that most of us wish we had the stamina and drive to do the things that you have accomplished. I realize more and more (as I hear you guys sharing your thoughts each week) just how much we agree on things and have similar worldviews (Biblical worldview more specifically) and perspectives which, by the way, makes me happy because you’re transparent, genuine, and real. In my home, we enjoy every Saturday because we get to watch your newest video.

You guys are honestly unselling yourselves - your story, family and channel are all unique. You genuinely have natural talent as content creators and are super comfortable in front of a camera. All that is appreciated and cherished by your audience - the folks watching you make a choice with every click/view to watch you - not the 'spectacle' content!

Lol Thank you for all you do for the kiddos and getting all the packages together. Can't wait for the live on Sat!

My uncle, Ed Flanders, was a very famous actor in the 1970s and 1980s. He despised the fame and being approached by people. Sadly, he turned to alcohol to deal with that insecurity and was very withdrawn. Joan Rivers often spoke of how she shut down at a table of a few people, not knowing what to say. I remember watching Betty White on The Tonight Show when Joan Rivers was guest hosting. Betty spoke of her crush on my uncle. Your podcast today addressed your surprise to famous people being introverted. People always notice with me I'm a major introvert who functions as an extrovert for work purposes. (P.S. Melissa, I'm 53, it ain't all that bad! :)

I had learned that I just have to be myself and really appreciate my quirks. I am not homeschooled but I was a theatre kid. I don't even really fit in the theatre world, but that is where I thrived, learned to be me and developed the extrovert of my personality. Not doing theatre right now, but I had a wonderful theatre career being an introvert. After performing a show, even after working all day now, I have to go home and regenerate and fill myself with things I like to do. Otherwise, I am so comfortable being the lone person sitting or standing in the corner.

Oh my goodness, I am so glad to hear there are other people out there that don't have a 'filter', I just think I am normal but get told that I have no filter, I like to tell the truth and like you Melisa, if I am happy you know it, if I am sad you know it. As far as I am concerned, having no filter just means you are an honest person and I am sure you are also the kindest person as well , love your UNCUT ❤

You two are so authentic and so beautiful in every way! If anyone has trouble with that, that is their problem. I love that you don't have a filter Melissa! You seem to be an empath, and I for one adore you. We live in a fake world with fake people, and at my age I decided to embrace my authenticity. I am real and that is what matters to me. I love that you are real! I wish more people were real.
The little story you told about someone sitting on your shoulder saying, NO, Don't approach, leave it alone. I know you were joking about that little scenario, but even with joking about it...I don't believe that was somebody you would even entertain listening too!
I believe God was saying, "Melissa go over there, for you will see that person who you thought was someone special, really isn't. I believe you put him on a pedestal and he isn't anything like what you thought. God would want you to know that so you become even better at discerning than you already are. Your viewers love you so much, and often wish they were more like you. Your viewers love you, and Jesus loves you just the beautiful way you are! ❤Besides, this was a moment in time you could seize the day, and get more guests on GSL Uncut! Carpe Dium, Melissa!

We are brand new to YT. We have a very similar story. My husband is a former police chief. We left the city life to build a life on the farm that has been in our family for over 100 years. We feel like we are starting all over with a totally different life at 40. We are living in a tiny home that we are slowly expanding. You all are such an inspiration and I'll be honest I would probably be really giggly introducing myself to you, but would absolutely love to meet you all someday. Thank you for such a real look at everything you do from the building, farm life to UA-cam. Also I have a son that is obsessed with war history and WWIII.

Melissa, you are not the one in the wrong. The person in question KNEW what was going to happen when he went to that conference. If he doesn’t want people to approach, then do not go. I like you for you, I also am a very non-filter kind of gal. Continue being you.

Dear Melissa… I am just now watching this video, it’s November 3, and I want to reassure you that it’s OK to be you. I’m almost 63 years old and you pretty much described my personality my whole life, yes, it can be awkward For others 😂😂 and then it gets awkward for us. But trust me, God made you exactly the way He wanted you. Don’t question that. Celebrate your dry sense of humor and your honesty.

I find that your videos & podcast has so much good content, that we can't comment on everything. Some moments & comments will fall through the cracks.
Also, I believe that as Christians, we don't need to fear, even though it will probably get pretty hard. I believe (according to many scripture) that we will be raptured before the true tribulation. Right now we are experiencing "birth pangs ".

I think it’s important to tell our children that the media does not always report world events accurately. It’s important for our children not to get too wrapped up in news reports as they are often biased towards one side or the other.

It is hard to see war and the effects of it, but as a Christian, I am soooooo excited for the end of this age and living with our King Jesus ruling and reigning! I pray this is the war that ushers in His coming. I think we can share that with our kids and give them hope.
