i knew one of my friends was a jew from kaifeng, a chinese. of course back then we laughed at him even he was so seriously making the claim. that was late 70s and early 80s..
we were kids and didn't know better. honestly back then, the word jew didn't mean anything to us...

@austpers I see you're also from Iran. Did you know that prior to 1979, before the Islamic revolution hit Iran, Israel and Iran had very close ties? Persians and Jews were like brothers, going back to biblical times. In fact, a lot of the Persians who escape Iran, are friends with Jewish people and Israelis, today and they are not proud of what their government has become. A lot of them even reside in Israel now. Amazing what Islam has done to Iran. I hope you guys will be free one day.
@yeguipanghuang FYI... Chinese is a nationally while Judaism is a religion. You can be both 100% chinese and 100% Jewish. Nobody would ever say they are half American and half Catholic.

dude, the jews that u see in antwerp are orthodox jews (haredim in hebrew=fearful people). like all 3 monotheist religions there are very religious people, moderate religious and even atheists.

@1971 revolution, you are incorrect. Jews and Arabs are half-brothers biblically and are historically descended from Iraqi people around the fertile crescent. Pre-Islamic arabs were pagans and the Iranians were Zoroastrians. Lastly, a significant percentage of today's Jews came from Israel but were scattered across the world by Romans mainly across Europe. It is called the Diaspora.

@ttiiyy That's an impossibility right there. You already have 7 million people packed into a country the size of New Jersey. Israel simply doesn't have the space, and it certainly doesn't have the water, to sustain another 6 million.
Kaifeng-Chinese Jews are very close to ethnic Chinese or Chinese speaking muslims neighbors. Many of them integrate into muslim community, the rest are extremely hard to be distinguished from ethnic-Chinese. Local people used to call some Chinese Jews as "Blue Cap Muslims".
Chinese Jews mension their ancestors as "Israeli", not "Jew".
Nowdays Chinese Jews are either classified as "Han" (Ethnic-Chinese) or "Hui"(Chinese Speaking Muslim) depends on whether they practice islam

@grapisavillain My parents are both Jewish and we have a strong Jewish heritage. They both do not speak Hebrew or Yiddish and they don't have Jewish names yet they have a strong faith. Do you not recognize us as Jews?
