Olana, Dream House of a Master

Olana is the dream house and estate of the American painter, architect and landscape designer Frederic Edwin Church, a major figure of the Hudson River School of landscape painting. With its parkland setting the estate of Olana is considered by many as his design masterpiece. Finished in 1872, the main house has an eclectic Victorian style heavily influenced by Persian and Moorish architecture. Olana is managed as a historic site and museum by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation with the valuable support of the Olana Partnership organization.
