Hi, hello and what are the odds! I just did a big purge of my Kindle library and boy it does feel good. Had about a decade worth of free books just taking up space that I'm never gonna read and only got them because they were free, so over the weekend I figured it was time to finally sit down and clear it out. Got rid of at least 150 books! Thanks for sharing and take care!
That's great! A decade of books? That's a lot. Well done for culling about 150 books. Did you come across any of them and wonder, "why is this here?" I know a lot of classics used to be free, but are there unpopular books free as well? The books that either, get poor ratings or haven't found their footing yet, are free? I read a book about 50 Cents and after he got sh0t he made an album, the industry wouldn't push it and so he went to the streets and handed out free cassettes. Remember those? And his process worked. Unhauling is definitely cleansing, even the tech cleansing, that I think usually gets forgotten. Thank you for sharing! and... Hi, hello~
"Did you come across any of them and wonder, "why is this here?"" - yep!! I was going through to make sure they were all free too before deleting something I had paid for and I was surprised at all the freebies I've gotten from Amazon over the years. A lot of them came from the "First Reads" freebie you get once a month with being a Prime member but the rest had dates on there ranging from 2013-2015 so I figured if I haven't read them yet I'm most likely never gonna lol
My reading tastes has changed too and I have been getting rid of fiction. I have too many nonfiction and history I really want to read and I am really not interested in fiction very much. I still read some historical fiction by historians who write fiction. I still have a bookcase to go through. You are making good progress.
Hi Vickie, I'm taking baby steps. I'm doing a small bits of books and unhauling. then repeat. I usually do bulk unhauling and save them and unhaul boxes at a time and I just don't want the clutter in my house. if you ever have a desire to make a video of your bookcases and books, I'd love to see them. 📚🤗 I also bought a few books from hamilton. Shortly after you told me about it, someone on goodreads told me about it. LOL And I want the bookshelf real estate for newer books. =)
Hi Angie! You've been on my mind. I hope everything is going smoothly for your move back to the states. I'm hoping I've talked enough about it to Prometheus (and my husband too, poor thing), that I can record it without getting fired up. LOL
I didn't see any that I was interested in until I saw the cover of Liberated and then you said that it is a novel and I thought, Nope! The cover sure had me thinking it was non-fiction! I have two different friends and one likes David Baldacci and another reviewed a book by Brad Thor. But not those two books you have so, maybe? And...! Thanks, now I can't get the song by The Clash out of my head! Should I stay or should I go! hahahaha -James
I know. That's exactly what I thought of Liberated. When I bought it I was still reading a lot of fiction and historical fiction was my favorite genre for ages. But lately it has just fallen flat for me. I'll probably try Baldacci and Thor and see if I'm interested or read one star ratings to see if they say anything that I wouldn't like about them. 😂so sorry about The Clash. I had planned on a different title too, but while I was editing that title came to me and I did remember it was a song. So I went with it. 🎶🎹🎸🎼🎵
14:34 I was hoping that the Autism War was going to actually be a nonfiction… I’m so disappointed! My sister is on the autism spectrum and my Mom was trained as a special educator before she became a homeschooling Mom. I might need to look up a book on the history of autism now…
I think the author Louis Conte has a nonfiction book about the arm fluid injections. When I worked as a Spec. Ed. the mom of the boy I worked with loaned me a book to read. I'll try and find the name of it. it might be outdated? Hopefully doctors have discovered more information. But the mother was very adament that the mmr was the cause. her son had to be on a very specific diet and he did so much better. I always knew when he ate something he shouldn't have, because he was just in a fog. Interestingly, my son recognized this not too long ago. He has a Vanilla Bean Frapp and his mind was in a fog. (we don't consume dairy because of allergies, but he didn't like the way it made him feel and he couldn't think.) But for the boy I worked with it could be processed foods as well. Book is: Asperger Syndrome in the Family by Liane HOlliday Willey I read it in 2001
@@BookZealots thanks for the title! I figure if I gather enough titles, and read them over time, I can get a fairly decent picture of autism and potential causes. You were a homeschooled and worked in Special Ed? Are you sure you aren't twins with *my* Mom? 🙃
@@tahlia__nerds_out I think the bet way to find out about autism is reading about personal account from siblings such as yourself and parents such as your mom. Because the medical industry has a reason to lie and there are very few who don't. LOL I'm pretty sure I don't have a twin, but not 100% sure. LOL My birth certificate says single birth. My bio dad was a twin and the other child didn't survive. =( I don't think that information should have been shared with him unless he really felt a loss growing up. Such hard decisions for parents.
10:05 pictures, yes! 😂 It's such a great feeling to unhaul books, almost as good as buying new ones (almost). Enjoyed your video! I have been thinking of doing one soon.
LOL I'm such a geek when it comes to pictures. and they were archaeological pictures. =) it really does feel so good to unhaul. I've already taken some to the Little Free Library in town. And, shhh, I already have new books for the new bookcase real estate. I look forward to seeing which books you decide to unhaul.
Was that the Irregulars about Roald Dahl? His autobiographies were so much better. I didn't think I would like Going Solo, but he made flying interesting. What's funny is imagaining his tall lanky form in a tiny little cockpit. He did it.
@@BookZealotsYes, “The Irregulars”. I might have to check out his autobiography through Libby. I had heard that he had been tall for a pilot. I heard that Jimmy Stewart had the same issue. I guess that pilot were needed so much that these tall men ended up folding themselves into their cockpits in spite of being too tall to sit in there comfortably.
@@tahlia__nerds_out The autobiographies are children's books, super short and easy to read. Oh! The book I read last month, Masters of the Air had information on Jimmy Stewart. He was first declined due to being underweight. There was a lot of "looking the other way" or "forgetting to mark something on a paper" shenanigans during WW2 to get men in. There were far too many men that didn't need to die, but chose to because they wouldn't abandon a brother. Their heart was in the right place, but not their mind.
I read a lot of Rosamund Pilcher decades ago and liked her then. I tried to read a book of hers earlier this year but found it dull and couldn’t get into it at all.
Oh good. Thank you Lindsey for sharing that. I checked one star reviews and one of the books has adultery and I don't like reading that. I'm pretty happy with the books I've pulled to donate. No one has told me I'm making a mistake.
oooh! I like that. Yes, I was definitely weeding. I find it's more manageable when done in small sections. =) Can I borrow your terminology? I really like it!
