    Had mine a month and finally got to try the thing. I got it to help preserve the tone thrue my board. Sounds like the rack gear, maybe a little more present. Still using a se70 for micro pitch and delay. Will be running this parrerell through the beebo as that 4 in and 4 out of so much needed. I will agree that the price for the quality leval is ideal. First thing I noticed was that it sounds like the records of the stars who used it! Not the only delay I'll be using but for straight up sterio rig or sterio top pair it's the bomb! Thanx for the help on the manual settings into it was just the thing I needed! Rock on bro!

    The Boss GT1000, Katana, and Nextone all have the SDE3000 in them with dual modes.

    This video with the opening statement has me as a new sub and bell ringer. Now I know amongst the all time greats it’s a subjective and objective classification. I mean we could go back and start with Paganini (hope I”m spelling it right) for me EVH was classical music inspired rocker with being the true American Dream Immigrant success story. Worked his ass off both off the guitar and on it. Truly shows in all the live videos he’s always having a blast playing for us. I’ll be lucky to be able to play Eruption well enough that you’d know what it is but I’ll probably not make it perfect. I truly love his composition sensibility and his composition skills. Being able to make whole songs with catchy hooks, and his mastery of using “noise” to make music is unmatched. EVH you’re the only musician that when I heard you past my immediate words were “well shit”. I knew at that point whatever had been recorded was all he would ever produce,. I’ll be adding this unit to my gear collection and will use it with my home setup of 2 guitar amps and a PA system.

    I wish they would release this as a Rack unit as well as a pedal unit. In a home studio, the rack format makes sense. They probably could have made it a half rack size.

    If you’re setting up w/d/w, you’re also getting the routing setup, which would require cables, DI boxes, patch bays, etc. there’s a whole platform that is being offered in the whole package. So two delay pedals, the NS-1 pedal, DI, routing and reamping for about $500 is a deal. Btw the numbers for Ed’s Roland SDE 3000 setup are on Guitar World’s article. I would try to punch them in. Left 398, 30, 31, 0, 0, Right 798, 20, 31, 0, 0. Input -3dB(ish). Bank 2 on both, but not sure if it matters.

    Great video, thanks. Question tho: How many presets of your own creation can you store to recall, and how would you assign them to the DD1 and DD2 footswitches?

    Kinda late question to apply to this video but I'm hopeful that you may have notification set up. I'm thinking I might have a issue with my peddle as I do not have a working stereo thrue. I do have left and right with the mono in but lose my left channel out when I'm going in stereo. I am fimillior with the in our menu and have the manual switched on for independent operation. Just not able to find a combination that allows for a stereo pass with delay. Just wondering if you have a similar situation or if I am missing something simple here? Thanx for your input on the rest as this is a fairly deep peddle. Will be good for the pod userers to see what they have been missing for sure! No hate intended Ofcorse!

      Hi Kevin. Ooh this could be a tricky one. Let’s try a little troubleshooting. On your in/out menu is “in” set to stereo and out also set to “stereo” or is out displaying dirEFII? If both are showing stereo is the return impedance switch set to hi-z?

    Hey brotha you answered all my questions. I’d really like to know how many local club guitarist out there are using a WDW rig , probably none and since I use 2 delay pedals on my board the boss dd5, and an Echoplex , I don’t run the WDW would this benefit me .... thanks so much 🙏🏼, I’m subscribing

    • @whatsthisbuttondo2885
      @whatsthisbuttondo2885 Рік тому

      It’s so hard to club with a wdw. Though things like Neural are making it more possible so you don’t have to have amps with you. I’ve seen a few people run a direct wdw or w/d with good effect using a preamp pedal to with emulation or things like the strymon iridium. But it’s just not the same ;).

    Question? I have this opportunity, is $289 a good price for a "cosmetically good condition" Boss SDE-3000 without the EVH vectors?

    I used to have an old Binson Echorec 40+ years ago( £6000.00 now) that sounded same / better than this and much easier to adjust with knobs! and I just used to point the speakers in different directions to use the natural acoustics of the room for affect! is wasn't in stereo of coarse

      I finally got a chance to compare it side by side to an old one this week. The new one sounds amazing but the old ones just have magic in them that makes them sound unworldly. I’m going to try to schedule a time with its owner so we can record a good comparison. And you are right the controls were just easy on the old ones. But I was surprised at how close they got in sound with this one. So for a third the price and the longevity the Trex is killer. But it did give me a big to find a used old one and fix it up ;)

    Hi - I was hoping you might be able to help? I'm currently running the new boss evh delay through my send and return on the back of my evh amp and it sounds all distorted and unpleasant. The cables I'm running are amp return to the evh delay unit (direct mono) and the amp send to the evh delay (return/input R). I don't want run 3 amps just 1 amp with the delay in the send/return amp port. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers, Dennis

      Hi my friend. Let me see if I can try to help. Give this a go. Plug your guitar into the front of the amp. Then run a cable from the send on the guitar to the mono in on the pedal and then run from the mono/l out from the boss to your return and see if that takes care of the problem. May have t change the noise floor a bit if that doesn’t work. I’ll be glad to help troubleshoot

      @@whatsthisbuttondo2885 Hiya - thank you i don't think I've done this correctly as the problem is still there. Just to clarify is the amp send cable going into the EVH delay (input mono L mono)? and the return amp cable to the evh delay (Direct L/Mono)? Cheers Dennis

    I just got one of these,but I am having some issues….I run a line out of my load box into the left mono input,then sending FXL and FXR to a stereo power amp…I am losing significant volume when going through the SDE….I have gone thru the in and out settings,but I can’t figure out what the problem is….

    • @whatsthisbuttondo2885
      @whatsthisbuttondo2885 11 місяців тому +1

      This could be a few things. What load box are you using? Are you using the load box to create an fx loop? The sde3000 is designed to input and output at instrument level so if your running line level in and then running into a power amp that is expecting line level instead of instrument level you can lose about 20-30db of level. I’d be glad to look at your gear and see how I can help.

      @@whatsthisbuttondo2885 I am using a Fryette PS2…the line out goes to the L input on the SDE,then the FXL and FXR goes to the power amp….I have it set for mono in stereo out(SDE)…then goes to two cabs…It’s a significant volume loss…I have the input set at 4db,but it makes no difference if I use 10 or 20….yesterday I connected my chorus before the SDE,so I was running the SDE stereo in and out..for some reason,that fixed the volume issue,but ONLY if I run it in DSP bypass…..I can compensate for the volume loss by turning up the output gain,but it doesn’t remember the setting…I assume it has to be saved with the preset,which you cannot do in the EVH presets….that would be great if you could look at it and tell me what I am overlooking..

      @scottpeters4401 Sorry for the slow reply. I’ve got a friend with a Fryette helping me with trouble shooting. Two Quick questions he had. When you go through the front of the amp on the same settings with sde vs the effects loop on the fryettte do you still get the volume drop. And second if you plug a patch cable from the effects send to the effects return on your fryette does your volume drop at all?

      @@whatsthisbuttondo2885 I figured it out…I was going from the Fryette into the L Mono input on the SDE…but….I was using the FXL and FX R outputs,which is for wet dry wet…the bottom labels on the outputs are for stereo,so you have to go Direct L and FXR for the outputs…sounds perfect now…it’s a little confusing with the way the ins and outs are labeled,but I got it going….the manual is as clear as mud too…I wasn’t using the FX loop on the Fryette,so it was just a matter of hooking the SDE up wrong..it had a volume drop,the high end was cut back,but it’s because of using the wrong outs..Thank you for replying back though…

      Hi my friend. It is possible. You can run them in series or parallel. Check out page 13 of the big manual online. It gives you a little idea. The key is setting up the switches to run in manual mode so you can activate each delay separately.
