For those wondering about packing shoes, we forgot to pack them for the video! And we actually had to drive back for a few more pairs (luckily we remembered after we’d been on the road for 10 minutes) all together we took 6 pairs of shoes with us. But because we are driving instead of flying, we didn’t pack them, just threw them into the backseat of the car (in their dust bags, of course) 😂

Like Angela Beilke, I was nervous, too 😬 But then my husband does go for a 10 days trip with one pair of shoes, so I thought “maybe they belong to the same category of people”. 😁
The suitcase inside a suitcase is Brilliant! I would have never thought of that.

Oh guys! I love you! I’m stranded in the USA, I’m supposed to be in my home in Italy. Here in the USA, we cannot even go from state to state and you are making me so happy with this trip! THANK YOU! But 5 suitcases? I MOVED to Italy with one carryon and one big suitcase.

I am so looking forward to this road trip. It has been 48 years since I have been to Norway, where I hitchhiked from Hammrfest to Gudbransdalen, then down to Oslo and I worked on 2 farms for the summer. I loved it, and I wish that I could go back there again.

I am a zip lock yarn storer as well...love them!!!! Oh I wear multi color underwear too. I was laughing so hard when Arne started that part of the conversation..it made my day.🥰

Awesome video ! My first car was a 1961 Beetle -I bought it in 1975 for $200Cdn-that car survived several extreme Canadian prairie winters-even started in -40C..We upgraded to an American vehicle when our daughter came along but nothing beat the VW for reliability.When we can travel again Norway will be high on the list.Thank you!

What a thoughtful gesture bringing your utube family on holidays with you! It will be truly appreciate given that the whole world is restricted with currently. I'm really looking forward to seeing Norway through Norwegian eyes, it's the most authentic way to see any country. Perhaps one day you will get an operatunity to travel the Irish 'Wild Atlantic Way ' road trip in your beetle!
Nice cubes! I used to travel for work and was required to pack only 1 carry-on luggage for 7-10 days. I rolled all my clothes up and tightly packed them into wet bags (those used for wet nappies). Same concept as your cubes, very useful because I changed hotels almost everyday and hence had no chance to unpack.
I love that you share the socks and no one owns them in particular. Socks are free souls, they are happier so.
(Also, I binge-listened to your vintage sweater videos some time ago and can't remember anymore, in which one, but when you said "this house where we live is 117 years old. It eats things." I laughed out loud.)

Phantastic! This is going to be a great nordic adventure in a vintage German epic vehicle. You know, my dad`s first car was a Karmann Ghia, back in the 60s and his second one a VW Beetle with the devided back window, we call it Brezelkäfer in Germany. Back in the 80s I myself was a member of the VW Club. We held an annual VW festival where hundregs of Beetles and their drivers of course showed up. This was held in Lenglingen, Kreis Göppingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The highlight was a tour with all the attendees, convoying through our district with the police guarding the front and back of the convoy. Wow, those where the days. Have a lot of fun on your trip. Can`t wait to see all your adventures. Wonderful packing tipps too. You know, I might sew myself some of those little bags to go inside of suitcases for myself. They are also great for everyday stuff too. In my gym bag for Aikido practice I already practice this "Matroshka" style packing. I have a cloth bag for my shower slippers and a bag for my shower gel and brush and so on as well as a baggy for fresh underwear. It is so much easier to find things and when things are organized in life, everything gets easier and you have more time for knitting, haha. Huggs from Germany, Christina

Wow! I love your ingenious idea to put a suitcase inside a suitcase! So clever. I also like the squishing the air out of the ziplock bags- I pack my knitting the same way, but have not rolled them so tight to get all the air out! Looking forward to your travel blog!

I’m from tennessee. Here in the southern states you have wicked heat but the humidity is so awful your clothes just feel like they stick to you. Shorts in the south for sure! So glad you’re well and so good to see you both!!

I am super excited about your road trip and so glad you are taking us all with you! My husband and I and two friends were supposed to come to Norway for a month in July this summer, but of course the trip has been canceled. My friend Mavis lived in Norway for 10 years and was going to tour us all over the country. We are hoping we can make it happen next summer. Meanwhile I will be enjoying traveling with you and taking lots of notes!

Another fun video, love your place, must be hard to leave. We live in a great place also, but you need to explore and experience new things, or favorite places in a different season. Have had several beetles in my life since my dad’s first one in ‘62. I tend to start my packing with the knitting projects and watercolor supplies! Love a road trip! Have fun!

I love this video as I love all the videos you do on your everyday life : gardening, cooking, reading, etc as I do not knit. I dream when I see you in your different rooms that seem endless. I live in a two room flat in Paris. I woud love to see more of your house decoration that is gorgeous. As suggested by other followers it would be nice to see your travel and scrap journals. you are doing really well with your videos, they seem more laid back than the ones done before the pandemy. I suppose it is because the subjects are different. It is wonderful to see you both in such a good shape and travelling,again. Have a wonderful journey.

I got my "cubes" from L.L. Bean many many years ago and they changed my packing forever, such wonderful little suitcases within a suitcase. Mine had a mesh top so I could use more than one of the same size and see what was inside without having to zip it open. Norway is one of the most beautiful countries I've ever traveled in (tied with Switzerland), so really looking forward to seeing this trip even though I'm showing up a little late.
I like the nested suitcase tip! When I was in Norway I bought several antique treasures and a bunch of yarn so I picked up an extra suitcase for 10 Euros in the thrift shop in Trondheim. I found several more treasures there as well.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣great video. Have been using packing cubes for years. Love them so much we gave them to the whole family one year for Christmas. Carlos, I pack mostly like you. I do roll up my dresses and some tops. We travelled a lot of Europe doing river cruises and coach tours. Also a large number of ocean cruises in North America, South America and the Caribbean. Find these cubes great for keeping organized as I hate clutter. I keep my “work” in my carry on bag with my shoes lol. Both of out grandkids used packing cubes for NYC last November. They love them. And yes, I have packed one suitcase inside the other when traveling as I was tired of buying new suitcases. Arne, I have a black belt too especially for quilting supplies and wool. Can’t wait to see where you take us as our UK trip was canceled 😢😢 as well as our Plans for a Norwegian cruise😢. Stay safe and glad you are healthy.
