He changed the course of music five or six times, remains a fashion and cultural icon, and his globally recognized artwork continues to resonate with multiple generations. He was an extraordinary artist who sacrificed everything for his music - the man with a sound so beautiful it could break your heart. In Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, award-winning filmmaker Stanley Nelson delves deep into the world of a beloved musical giant.

Great documentary. If you want to feel the beauty in everyday ordinary stuff - play “Kinda Blue.” I think it’s easier to appreciate this album when you’re older but I’m sure the young can feel it, too.

I saw him at the Live Under the Sky Festival in Japan the summer of 1987. Best concert I’ll ever see! A 22 y/o Darryl Jones was playing a fretless Bass, Ricky Wellman on drums, Kenny Garrett Alto Sax and Flute, Foley McCreary lead Bass and a Brazilian Percussionist.

One day a white man called me on the phone. What doea the skin color of the person on the other side of the line has to do with anything?? Miles dosent say that a nlack man called him on tje phone. All i heard on the documentary was: a white man this a white man that... Poor miles sooooo obsessed with race, its a USA desease.

Looks like a great documentary, but the narrator's raspy voice is just nails down a chalkboard to me.
