I wish the events were a little more evocative, the way they are in 1960 and Twilight Struggle. But for its length, I agree that it's a great addition to the card-driven game genre. I think the forthcoming Twilight Struggle: Red Sea will have to go a long way to beat it.
Thanks for the review, Cody! Of the light and compact games inspired by the original Twilight Struggle (ex. 13 Days, TS: Red Sea, Flashpoint South China Sea, etc.), which do you think is best?
Awesome review Cody! Just curious, i havent played twilight struggle before but thinking of picking up either Twilight struggle Red sea or flashpoint South china sea. Curious which you would recommend and why? Thanks! :)
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer He's not a great guy, as per the news. I was reading about how he and Xi are really at odds and it's a no win situation. Just like with the whole "shades of grey" thing about world conflicts.

😀 Great review. Too bad the players aid is confusing. GMT needs to figure out a way to write better rule books and at times, player aids. Fields of Fire is a great example. The fans had to rewrite the rule book for GMT. Did you notice any issues with the production in regards to the graphics or text? I have a few games from GMT that have issues. Next War: India Pakistan has counters that are not printed correctly. Colonial Twilight has two of the same cards. Imperial Struggle has graphic issues. Other than that, nice to see a war game review from you. Thanks!
I trusted most of your reviews, but then I stumbled upon your clipboard review on Amazon. You didn’t even mention the spring! Like I’m going to buy a clipboard for the board! You didn’t consider the PSI or torque. Is it a cold-wound spring? Is it a hot-wound spring? What’s the torque, Cody! What’s the God Damned Torque!
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I'll pardon you this time; however, please think of the children. The next time a child loses a digit or a limb due to a clipboard accident, karma might not be as forgiving. Oh, and the family loved O.P. Arena. Thanks for putting that on your video.
Definitely a bit of a disappointment from my plays. Better theme integration could have made this a really interesting play. As is, though, this is just a very pretty but flavorless board game.
I agree that, as I said in the video, it's more abstract that I'd like, but I the fact that it's such a relatively short game means I don't need a deep immersive theme. If this were a 2-3 hour game, it would need more theme to keep my attention. As is, I really enjoyed it.
this kinda fell flat for me. its too much by the numbers, like.. over designed maybe. theme sorta felt irrelevant and would have liked a bit more of it (I dont know how tho).
Your best intro pun yet...
Glad you liked it.
The box cover looks like some office software cd box from the 90s
Ha!
The solitaire does get a lot better if you give it a few more plays.
Thanks again for the great videos - you’re my go-to guy for reviews.
Thanks. I appreciate that.

Yeah, still looking forward to TSRS, though.
Red Flag over Paris x Flashpoint: South China Sea. Which one do you prefer?
Probably this one.
“Hard to tell sometimes.”
I felt that.
Ha!
Thanks for the review, Cody!

Gun to my head I’d prolly say Red Sea. Thanks
You are very funny. Probably the funniest board gamer youtuber
Thank you. But looks aren't everything.

While they’re both area control, they are very different. TSRS has a little more depth. Both great, but if I had to pick one that would be it.
Remembering that Modi on our side reminded me of just how hard it is to tell.
?

Great stuff, as always! I cannot wait for you to take a look at Votes for Women!
I'm excited for that one. What's the ETA?

I have failed you. There is only one response to that (draws ritual sword)

@@tbga1970 Happy to help!
This game looks so cool..but too many rules!
Not really. It’s quite light compared to many.

Some people feel that way. I had fun with it. Too each their own.
First
But far from best.
Useless video.
Could you please post a link to one of your video reviews so I can see how it's done?
