As I was watching 3 elk passing by evenly spaced apart, I watched as they all turned and looked back at you at the same time, I was hoping you got the image. Thankfully you did and I just loved that shot.

I was in yellowstone in sept of 2021 right after labor day & around 5am wen i left the cabin heading towards the park it was in the mid 30s. Then by 11am it was in the 70s. Not that im complaining...i lov the cold weather. My wife & i are planning on going in February or march & go snowmobiling throughout the park. Fingers crossed

“Too many elk”. Never! Whole herd of trophies. Big guy had a big body to go with that rack and some nasty scars from past fights. Miss the big bulls of western Wyoming and eastern Idaho. Loved it.

Steve, after watching your vlogs for several years and rewatching each one several times, I have finally pulled the trigger on a trip to the Tetons. I will be there for the first week of October. I would love to buy you lunch to thank you for all you have done. I would not be doing this trip if not for you. Thank you from New Hampshire.

The video segment with the three bulls right, center, and left. Slightly left of the frame. The one on the right turns his head looks straight at you then the center one looks at you, and then the one on the left. Then in the same order and one at a time they turn their heads and look straight ahead again. That'll probably never happen again in your lifetime. It was like a "Transformers" movie level of CGI or something. Just mind-blowing stuff Steve! This video and images are what professional wildlife photographers like yourself show us of what can be done with patient's and preparation. Thanks.

Great opening! Only a minute in and I already love this video! Every time I see Coffee featured in a wildlife video I can't help but wonder if that photographer is a fan of Morten Hilmer because every video he has ever posted features his coffee in a starring role. So big question, while I am watching all your videos, who's videos are you watching?

Nice video as always Steve. Thanks. This also shows how much of dedication and patience it takes to be a good wildlife photographer (waking up at 4 am!! Not really easy :p).
They were truly majestic bull elks for sure. I particularly liked the video clips and the photos of the trio of the bull elks. Would have been nice to hear them bugling though. Also as you mentioned it was funny to see that one younger bull elk ( that's what I'm assuming base on its size) hanging out with the big lads.
Expecting more bull elk videos in the future.
    Thanks again.

Steve, you are driving me crazy with all your great wildlife photos! I live in SW Colorado with a resident herd of elk and make my best effort photographing them. They are hunted every year, so approach in photo range can be tricky. I have done reasonably well with cows and calves (lots of calves this year), but the magical image of a big bull still waits for me. Often I shoot from the
vehicle or a stationary blind, but occasionally I have had luck stalking. Rut is coming and I am still hoping for the great bull shot. Love your photos, videos and vlogs!

Not sure what to think when you guys make awesome shots 20 meters away from these animals while staying in the car.
I mean at the end of the day who cares if the shot is amazing but still.
I'm living in Europe and 99% of the critters are super shy. I literally look like a bush when I go out shooting. Full camo and I had to learn how to stalk. The smallest mistake equals spooked animals and potentially a ruined day.
Under these circumstances having a similar shot means so much to me because I had to work my ass of to get close. Staying in a car in a National Park where the animals got used to human presence...donno.
Don't get me wrong Steve, the shot is sweet and I loved the video.

    • @slowlyrusting4044

I find that a great "shot" is a great "shot" whether you walked barefoot in the snow for a 100 miles or the animal walked into your back yard.

I understand completely what you are saying. In 2017 I had the pleasure of spending part of a weekend with two gentlemen from Austria. They had traveled to the USA for the solar eclipse and to spend 6 weeks traveling and birding. They both worked for the national park service of Austria and where amazed at the size of some of our parks and recreation areas. The largest park in their country was just over 7000 acres. We met at land between the Lakes which encompasses
170.,000 acres with over 300 miles of fish able shoreline. It made me realize how easy it was for me to take our parks for granted. Depending on where you live in the states it can be an uphill battle doing wildlife photography.
