We test car jacks on a 10° angle using a 300-ton hydraulic press. Which jack is the toughest under extreme pressure on uneven ground? Watch to find out!

You assume that no one would orient the wheel jack so that the car runs down the road. You have much more faith in people's common sense that I do.

Lauri, maybe fit something onto your press that simulates the welded seam that a car has under it. The seam that the scissor jack is supposed to fit onto?

Great idea! In the real world we hope people arent using jacks on uneven ground, but you never know.

These were surprisingly strong on angle. I thought that there would be terrible results here but seems almost as strong as usual

Sadly this happens more often than it should. With deadly consequences.
Friend down the streets fiancee went this way working on a car in the dirt. We'd just graduated high school and they were barely engaged a few months.
Hard to believe that was over 20 yrs ago. How time flies as an adult.

It happens, i just did a job, this last Thursday, that was on a conveyor that was on an incline. We had to use a jack and had no other options to hold a Roller in position until we were ablecto get bolts in.

Looks to be about 15-20 degrees, if you split the load on axis or rotate to arbitrary axis you are using the sine and or cosine functions and when you plug it in you will see something like 93-97% on the intended axis and 25-34% off axis so even at these angles the loading off axis isn’t a problem because they should be designed to resist buckling which also helps take up off axis loads. They don’t add to 100% they make up a mohr circle where pushing at 45% gets 71% of the force and two of those like the top of a Y and you get 100% pushing down not 142%.
That said the problem isn’t the load on the structure, it’s the stability of the car and base support together. He says this too.

Lol, I just did a job this with a similiar setup. I work as a Maintenance Contractor, mostly on Conveyor systems and while working at a UPS Hub, I had to help out one of their maintenance guys to install a new snub roller. The conveyor beneath the roller was on an incline and we used a floor jack. The problem was it had wheels, and So with my 3 arms and 3 feet, I had to hold the roller, hold the pipe in-between the roller and jack and with my feet holding the jack in place, so it would not roll out when under tension.
We were able to do the job, but was not fun.

On a slant, not only the road, the car is also on the same slant. So unlike your video, the car remains perpendicular to the car jack.
