How Far Can Voyager 1 Travel?

- 22 billion kilometers in over 40 years, that's the distance Voyager 1 has traveled since its launch in the late 1970s! The question is, how far can Voyager 1 travel? Will this probe one day reach a distant star system as humanity's first ambassador and, if so, will we possibly get an answer from there? The Voyager probes are regarded as milestones in space exploration and they have provided us with never-before-seen images and impressions of the outer planets. That was supposed to be the end of it, but their mission has continued to this day. Can Voyager 1 really fly forever and what will it see on this long journey?
According to Star Trek, it's V ger.
Tell unknown species exactly where we are, what could ever go wrong with that??
we gotta explore somehow. But that golden disk with Earths location and literally everything about us was kinda silly, we coulda left that stuff out.
if an unkown species has the technology to find Voyager 1, it surely has the ability to track radio signals coming from our planet and find where earth is located based on the radio signals. Hence, it can find earth even without finding the probe.
@@matanc3489 radio at distances would be so wide they would know a general direction. I hat I am referring to is basically telling space your exact address and showing them you are not technically advanced. Space program ASSUMES all species are peaceful. Be like parking a model T out front of Ferrari then bragging about your automobile technology skills.
@@matanc3489 Yes but you never know how things could workout. There are different levels of technology they aren't all extremely advanced yet some are on our level, were better than some too, so its complex. Even Steven Hawking suggested the golden disk was silly
Depending if humanity survives into the distant future if any life forms find it they'll have a shock with how much advanced we have become since sending the voyager out there! Just look how much we've advanced in technology since sending the voyager to space... I'm just hoping future generations aren't all p***ys and would actually fight for earth if it actually came to it
I have a feeling if they were made today, they wouldn't last 2 years in space.
Straight ordered from Temu 😂
Nah ion agree with that. Think something like satellites or highly expensive/specialized products will always have people working on them who want to be there, and who want to build the best possible version. Not exactly a high volume industry, thus not many minimum or slave wage workers who usually could give less of a shit about the quality of the product…
What makes you think that?
Especially if it was made by Boeing
It will drift on for infinity until destroyed by cosmic forces
So not infinity
4:10 “although the particle density dropped dramatically, as expected there were still more particles than expected”. What? Did Carmine Lupertazzi Jr write the script?
I think in a thousand years or so we will have developed technology so that humanity will surpass the Voyager probes. Eventually we will follow the probes with whatever space craft/probes we have at that time and immortalize them as the start of human space exploration.
Probably doesn't have the speed to escape the galaxy but it along with the other Voyager , Pioneer 10 and 11 and New Horizons could end up anywhere roughly along their last known routes but gravity from stars might alter their courses.Although it's not really worth worrying about as they probably won't pass anything for hundreds of thousands of years.
That’s crazy bro but very true
Thanks for such like
What a magic
As long as it is not acted upon by an unbalanced force.
What i don't understand i mean we are talking about NASA here. If you have an active mission to supervise and control, how can it be that you don't have qualified employees who are familiar with this old technology...
it's future humans..
Skip to 3:26 to get past the history lesson. Most of us who occasionally click on these videos already know about who, what, when, where, and why. Just cut out all the BS and get to the topic of what the video is advertised as.
Some alien with steal this and end up with free satellite t.v. stations.
Perhaps if either of the Voyagers make contact with another species at least they will have knowledge of our civilization which I believe will be long extinct .
What I find amazing is that humanity has yet to discover absolute proof of another source of life although we have many credible examples of encounters with aliens.
To meet the creator
How are both of those statements true at the same time? If we have creditable encounters with aliens then wouldn’t that be proof?
There have been multiple occurrences with proof of other life

Ahhhhh it takes 22.5 hours to send a message to voyager!
Surprised you don’t hear the climate activists complaining about the sun leaving exhaust trails 🙄
So interesting but in the 60s they can make a probe that can withstand the climate of interstellar space and with a battery that’s lasted over 60 years but my iPhone has to be charged once a day and stops working if in direct sunlight or temps of 30 degrees 😂
Your phone isn't powered by Plutonium, is it?
As real as the Easter bunny.
It's v ger
#1 Britain
You mean Uranus 😂
I’m an American. What’s a kilometer?
just like mph
Sad! Americans tried to join the sane world, and use the vastly better, easier, simpler Metric system! However, Americans were UNABLE to learn the simple Metric system! And remain the ONLY nation using the ignorant Feet, inches, miles, pounds, ounces, ect!
1000 meter
Who Cares?
People with intelligence unlike you Larry you boomer
I do, Dinosaur 😂
Literally everyone that clicked on this video, LARRY
I don’t understand how the plutonium will stop producing electricity in 5 more years
Basically there won't be enough plutonium left for the voyager probes to send a signal back to earth. The probes will have some power far longer than we will be able to contact them
