Such a great song and a wonderful production. Sabaton is one of my favorite bands. I think you would really be moved by their video "1916." It's so good!
Thank you Jess. I have seen this before but will always re watch and react to whomever played it. It is a remarkable piece of theater and music. I don’t see this as possible in our modern warfare but if it could exist for just a day in those that are Christian as it is a Christmas Truce it would be absolutely incredible. I’m not calling out those religions that don’t believe just saying this is a Christmas Truce. Have a good Christmas Jess and your family. ❤
I love this song and the story behind it. Actually it was the first Sabaton song I ever heard, earlier this year. I listened to it because in 2005 my sons and I came across a movie called Joyeux Noel, and it was about this truce, very well done. Anyway, the movie is one of our go to Christmas movies, and wanted to recommend it to you. I know it's not horror but I think you would enjoy it. Anyway, great reaction, thank you!
What a great and emotional historical story that Sabaton told in this video. Sabaton is such a fantastic band and every song they do is just an amazing look back in history. I like the story you told about your history teach, what a great way to learn and also be tested. Btw, I love your t-shirt 😄
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done And so true one of the few who listens and watches the credits and realizes that it is Floor Jansen well done man !Don't you miss that Floor was married to drummer Hannes from Sabaton
When Sabaton's drummer Hannes is married to the Valkyrie Queen the cross-over was inevitable. The running joke goes: Joakim: We need a powerful and emotive outro Hannes: I'll ask the missus if she is available I have had family members fight in WW1 and 2 1916, The price of a mile and Angels Calling are very emotional to me. On a side note: I hate Christmas not only it's my birthday is overshadowed by it, I also suffered childhood trauma. I have daily triggers and relapses to "numb" the pain, it's tough to live in a never-ending circle. I do have my therapist on speed dial and speak to her twice a week until mid January.
Great reaction, yeah, Sabaton really can tell a story. watching thei cover of Mötörheads 1916 really can be difficult, it is one of those where you have difficult time to listen to lemmys words, the lyrics get very "real" while trying to give "war" from the soldiers point of view, and in the video they show that it has been this way for people in war through the ages by including everyone from Spartans through to ww2
This is the video that turned me from a very occasional listener to a fan, so I think of it as being when I was properly introduced to the band. I usually cry twice - when Hannes comes out of the trench, and when Pär carves 2021 on the cross. In the 100 years since the end of WWI, my country sent soldiers abroad to fight and die Every. Single. Year. Truly a "war that never ends". As for young people: I'm a tail-end Boomer and things were already starting to shift, but I still had waaaay more advantages than anyone younger. If you leave people the dregs and then disrespect them, what do you think is going to happen? Having seen the crowd my grown-up kids run with, I'd rather trust the world to them than to my own lot. There's an equal proportion of idiots across all generations, but our idiots seem to have been particularly effective at effing things up. Let's give someone else a chance to make their own messes before we write them off.
My great grandfather and his commrads would have been thankful for a freaking apple. They never dated to dream about a truce. When they came back noone believed them until the reports started circulating.
I have some songs I could ask of you to try. 1. En Livstid I Krig (A Lifetime Of War) 2. Karolinens Bön (The Caroleans Prayer) 3. Hearts of Iron 4. Metal Ripper 5. Saboteurs and finally, 6. Lejonet Från Norden (The Lion From The North) These are just my suggestions, but damn, Christmas Truce hits hard. Especially in December. Every song I also put in bracket is the English version of the Swedish version. If you decide to try one, I'd go with the English version for each for understanding purposes.
I agree with that list, althoug I think Hearts of Iron can be much better appreciated if you know the whole background, so I think it's much better to watch the Sabaton History video about it first
After this happened the Russians tried to start a truce on the eastern front on Easter. The issue is Easter isn't at the same time in the Russian and the German calendars so it never happened.😢
Western front, no Russians. Tommy had a French uniform in the video. Russian Empire did poorly in WW1 and mostly failed to entrench their positions. Also, Eastern Orthodoxy isn't using the Gregorian calendar, so Russians would have their Christmas Day on January 7th, two weeks after the Germans - which would make the event like this practically impossible. One side playing Carols would inflame religious tensions and have the opposite effect at the time. Southern front not having a truce like this comes down to the same Julian vs Gregorian calendar issue.
The thing that annoys me about this story is the soldiers did their duty when it was all over. The next day they went back to war. The higher ups on both side made sure this never happened again. I get the idea behind it, you don't want the enemy to look like fellow human beings, but..... I can't imagine many people go to war not knowing this. Sure you can build up hate to mask your humanity but not letting people be human is going to crush every man as much as war can.
Can you imagine all the way up to this point in the war they where trying kill each other. One crazy fucker decideds to risk getting shot to walk into no man land to celebrate a holiday. Onlye to go back the next day and resume like nothing happened. I dont know how i would react to this.
AND IN THE GRAND FINALE....
THE GODDESS FLOOR!!!
Such a great song and a wonderful production. Sabaton is one of my favorite bands. I think you would really be moved by their video "1916." It's so good!
Floors outro is so amazing for this Masterpiece
If that got to you, check out 1916…. Dare you to not shed a tear…. No basically cry your eyes out!!

SABATON ?
Marvel
Wonderful song and wonderful reaction. Thank you so much for playing it. Made me tear up also.
😮😮Wow🙏💪😢😢No words needed. Just tears at your heart. ❤️ Beautiful and haunting.
Great reaction, yeah, Sabaton really can tell a story.

That's what happens when higher ups throw people in war that never asked for it. Put the high ranking bastards in one room and leave the rest alone.
In case anyone is still wondering about that Christmas song, it kind of a variation on "Carol of the Bells"
Hannes hugging Chris always breaks my heart.

Don't feel stupid for feeling these songs so deep.😢

I was there at Scandinavium Gothenburg when they did en livstid i krig and I can only agree with you.

@@Templarofsteel88 damn I wish I was there

I hate holidays and Christmas especially, but the only Christmas themed song allowed in this house is sabatons Christmas truce.
After this happened the Russians tried to start a truce on the eastern front on Easter. The issue is Easter isn't at the same time in the Russian and the German calendars so it never happened.😢
...and the award for best video goes to.....
Nice reaction.

This did happen regardless

Sabaton didn’t have to look far for a female singer for the ending since Floor is married to Hannes from Sabaton 😬😊
Dude tighten up the talking some. Let the plot unfold through the song.
