This is the second attempt by #Ukraine to destroy Caesar Kunikov. The first was on March 24, 2022, when Ukraine fired a Tochka-U ballistic missile at the port of Berdyansk. Then the BDK Saratov sank, and the Caesar Kunikov and BDK Novocherkassk were damaged. The captain of the Kunikov, Andrei Chirva, later died from his injuries.
There is symbolism in the date of the ship's destruction. 81 years ago - on February 14, 1943 - the Soviet officer Caesar Kunikov, in whose honor the BDK was named, died.
