For a student project wet bagging forgives a lot more, it's lower cost and basic tech. That's good enough at that level.

For driver jig....buy a thrashed go kart chassis!... Kart racers bend them and ruin them all the time. Track down a kart racing team...and see if they have a bent chassis from a past season...
