- Moving to Florida? Heard that the healthcare is no good? In this video we will clear all of that up. Healthcare in Florida gets a bad rap because people move down and expect things to be exactly the same as where they came from. That is not the case. Things are done differently in different parts of our country. It is all about finding providers that you are comfortable with. It may take some time, but don't give up your dream of living in Florida just because you can't find the care that is right for you right away. Talk to people. Get their opinions. We are all in this together!

Could you do a future video on choosing a health care plan? I’ve heard you can purchase health insurance directly from hospitals like Florida Hospital?
This is such a personal matter, no one else can really choose a plan for you. Tons of things to consider.

I moved to Florida from Ohio in 2006; healthcare in Florida is horrible. In Ohio, I always saw MY doctor....that's the way they do things. In Florida, they play "doctor by committee"---you oftentimes get whoever happens to be on duty, even if you have an appointment with a specific doc. In fact, sometimes you might not even get a doctor at all---could be an RN. In Florida, healthcare providers believe that "all doctors are the same", and that you shouldn't have a preference---they actually seem shocked when you do.
100% it sucks here. In NY you can walk into any Doctor's office and be seen as soon as possible. Here you can wait up to 4 months just to get an appointment and to end up with a RN who sleeps in front of the laptop.
We were surprised about the massive amount of clinics in the strip malls! 🤯

We have found healthcare to be much better here than Southern California where we moved from. I think your option of healthcare here will vary depending on what kind of insurance policy you have.

My goodness, you both excellent in communicating important information!! My husband and I are thinking about moving to St Augustine and we have so many questions. We are doing our research and watching you UA-cam is very helpful. We are young seniors so we have concerns about healthcare and finding the right doctors. At our age, it becomes imperative. We almost bought a home last year but found out it was on flood zone A. We had no idea what that meant until we called the permit office in St Augustine and we were so upset. It meant high risk if flooding and expensive insurance. So we back out of the contract. We lost some money but it was a loss we accepted. I wonder if you can provide additional information about flood zones? We also are wondering about how you live with critters such as lizards, snakes, bugs etc? Can you provide a good research tool to learn about that ? Have you experienced a hurricane yet? Love your UA-cam and look forward to watching more of them. Best success to you both❤️
I'm from western Ny and I haven't come across doctor's offices that draw your blood. They always send you to quest or some other lab.
Love your content...been watching awhile, but became a subscriber today. How are the allergists there? Medical care is a big worry for us because my husband and youngest son suffer so bad from allergies.
Lol...we are looking at Englewood, Ormond Beach and Tampa...wide range, but we love all those areas. :)

I'm on Medicare and Medicaid QMB here in Alabama. Are they very different in Florida? I'm comfortable with the coverage here it's affordable but I don't like Alabama. And it was brought to my attention. To consider Port St. Lucy that it's very affordable. But what about storms, flooding? Is there any info on this city as well as health care differences? I need good Dr's as I was born w a physical disability causing issues in my older age. And where I go has to be affordable. THANK YOU for any advice. Jenn

Hello, im 61 yrs old and I have some health issues. I get medicaid for my health they pay 100% and medications free. I does not work because of my health issues. Can I get the same in Florida? I was thinking of moving there but I'm scared I might make the wrong decision.

Health insurance is based on individual needs so she may not be able to help you with that. What's good for her and her family may not sound as good to you & yours. Too many variables to consider.
