I've gotta make this as short as I can. For the majority of his career, people mistook his compassion for competitiveness, his humor for heckling, and his sincerity for sarcasm. I have never seen someone will a team, be it indoor or doubles, to victory like Eric did. Having known this kid since he was 16, I'm one of many fortunate people who got to work with and watch him develop from a no-name sophomore indoor VB player to a household name. Like you all saw in the first few minutes of meeting him, you probably said the same thing we did, "this kid's got it". I love that, coming from players at the highest level of the game, you all figured out what he was all about. He never changed the way he was, he only refined and perfected his craft through the years. From the bottom of our hearts in Jersey, we could not be prouder, more honored, and more humbled by this recognition. He helped us feel closer to you all, even though we may have never met. From casually signing one our balls or stopping for a quick picture on the tour, every moment felt more significant knowing one of our own was playing amongst you. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! TLDR: You guys are just so f*****g cool, thanks for this.
I'm 2.5min in... I have never met the guy; I have only watched, and only enjoyed trying to be apart of the beach volleyball community. I had to pause it, wipe the first tears from my eyes. Losing a soul as good as this one can just wreck others that he was close to. I hope you all hold your special people close, hold on tight. Nothing is more sacred than a life. I know he is missed, and for sure loved by many. RIP Eric.
Boys I don't cry often but the Love that you have shown Eric was beyond epic and brought a few tears to my eyes. Eric sounds like an epic person. Two years ago I lost someone who had a very special place in my heart and It makes me sad that losing these special people is what takes society to talk about mental health and remove the stigmas from it. Let us take the pain and turn it into joy by helping people while we can.
Met Zaun 4 years ago at the Rumble. Followed him every step since. Still does make sense and sometimes that’s how it is. Thank you for showing who he was and keep making videos. The beach volleyball community need it.
Crying at work as I watch this. Couldn’t wait till I got home. This is what the AVP tribute should have been. Never met him but was such a fan! If he touched so many lives of people he never met, I can’t imagine how his close friends and family are coping. Thank you for this tribute!
Great tribute guys, I really respect you! This makes it even harder to say it on this video. It's great to put in the effort and show respect for Zaun, but what if we would actually LISTEN to people when they talk instead of doing a tribute when it's already over. What people were saying in this video made me feel like he was in a lot of hurt. I don't think it's a sign of stable person, if they always want to test the limits, being funny, making everyone feel good. I'm not saying it's a bad thing or that every person being funny has problems. Especially when being among friends. It's a sign of a stable mental health to be able to show ALL emotions to friends, not just the "good vibes". And it's like an never ending circle. More time you're "happy only", harder it is to show sadness or being calm. I really hope Eric's death can make a change, because it's really sad when people give up. Once again, I'm sorry this came out on your videos guys, I really enjoy watching you two, but it's something that bothers me more and more. Rest in peace Eric Zaun.
I never knew Eric, never seen him on tour or anything like that. But after watching this video, I realize just how much I missed out on. This guy is an absolute riot, and it's incredible to see his impact on the community as a whole. Shoutout to the entire community of volleyball for such heartfelt condolences for this young man. One of the many reasons I'm proud to call myself a volleyball player. RIP Eric
I really want to be like him!!! I miss him so much. I can’t even explain how much! He was so amazing. 😭🏐❤️💯 we love you so much road dog! Hope your watching over all of the players while your up there. ❤️😭
This is truly remarkable guys. The love and compassion illustrated by this video and everyone in it is beyond words. This is just one of the many things that makes the volleyball community the best out there. Much respect to all affected by this tragedy
Absolutely beautiful video, thank you for sharing this memorial. I didn’t know Eric, but after watching I see how amazing he was and how he brought so much joy to everyone he was around. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
So good guys. EZ was such an individual that i had the pleasure of knowing during the NVL. Just hearing the stories reminded me of so many good times I experienced personally with him.
I was just watching some old AVP matches and heard his name and it reminded me of this video so I came and watched the entire thing for the first time. I finish and look at the date, and I happened to be watching 2 years to the day since he passed. Wild. RIP Eric, you’re an inspiration and gone too soon
What a wonderful tribute. This made me tear up over a player a barely had the chance to meet and sign my ball. To really hear all the fun stories and memories about this great player. Prayers for the vb community. Especially to his girlfriend Katie.❤️
It's so amazing to get all of those memories together in one place so that world could get a glimpse into who Eric really was as a person. It's a tragic loss but to remember him as he was for others is truly remarkable!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I hadn't heard of Eric Zaun until today but I won't ever forget him. You could see in the eyes of the different interviewers, especially Avery Drost, how much Zaun meant to them. I didn't know Eric, but how people speak of him really hits close to home for me because I aspire to be like him. So now I have someone to look up to...to emulate, and this video to remind me of living life to the fullest. Thank you.
RIP Eric, my heart goes out to his family and friends. I love to see everyone smiling and laughing while they tell stories about Zaun, he clearly had an amazing impact on the people around him You guys did a phenomenal job with this video
I never knew... I never knew... what a guy he must have been. Using his afterburners 24/7 maybe shortened his days on earth but he sure seemed to have lived a couple of lifes in that short time. Great tribute, just great! ❤️
You guys did a great job with this video at celebrating his life, the experiences he shared, and the legacy he's left behind. I'm sure he'd be proud--I can imagine his family and close friends are happy that now he'll be remembered by his character and not by tragedy. Amazing work.
woooow. im 16 and just starting to play volleyball and this duude.... this duudeee really motivated me. not only to give it all up on the court but also his lifestyle is just amazing. his passion and attitude .. woow
I do Love this Video. Eric does inspire me, even he is in heaven. Thanks for this very special contents. That means a lot to me and probably a lot of the beachvolley community. I will never forget Eric, even if I doesn’t met him. Thought to all who loved him. Greetings from Berlin
RIP for all those who we have lost. I have been delaying watching this. The same thing happened in our community, one of the most difficult things we've ever had to deal with, still are. We started charity tournaments in his name so he can live forever in our hearts and our cause. RIP Eric Zaun the road dog and Kimo Kaanana the flyin Hawaiian. Great video guys, thank you
Just wow! Such an amazing piece and insight into this young man! Best content ever, tremendous testimonials, authentic love and appreciation for the Road Dog! Thanks for building and sharing this sad but at the same time very uplifting story! Bravo
WOW!! What a classy tribute video for a classy guy!! Wish I would have meet Eric. Looks like he lived 3 full lives in the short time he was here. HEAVEN - 21....EARTH - 0
Thank you so much for posting this! I relate to Eric a lot and all I want to do is share my passion 150% 24/7. I’m always the person to always not try and pay 😂😂and save $$. I dream of being given the chance to sleep on the sand of Huntington Beach and just waiting for ppl to show up so I can play. I live in a small town so not much beach around but, I am the one to gather ppl to just play and we have a blast. This vid reminded me to just show my passion unconditionally. Love ya bearded bros and you too Katie I’m 5’6 so I rlly look up to you and you too Jeremy, always strive for discomfort bro ✌🏼❤️and thx for liking my comments I just rlly want to express how much this video has influenced me and it has given me such joy in how many ppl Eric touched ❤️❤️❤️ I will always strive to be you Eric 🏐
I really appreciate that you focused only on celebrating his life and nothing else, very moving tribute. He was obviously loved by many. That must have been really hard to make about a friend. Hopefully reminiscing with everyone helped working through the emotions. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone hurting right now.
Great tribute Maddison and Riley and all the ladies/guys who were interviewed. RIP Eric you will be sorely missed 😢

100% agreeeee.his mental issue should have been mentioned and maybe finished the video with it, not romanticized ...
I've met the guy at a beach camp . He was one of those guys who's sense of humour would break the biggest ice out there . Rip Eric
I wondered why there was no video yesterday and now I know why and this was very much worth it. Great video! RIP Zaun
