Thanks. Djs need to set their priorities straight and secure their future. I see a lot of the older generation develop health problems like stroke and disability, because of all the running around and not charging enough.
DJ Carlo, I have started playing in March and have studied a lot since. Haven`t seen anyone with the reality sense as you have, not trying to sell formulas of success and showing and teaching us what really matters. You are awesome and I`m a big fan! Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!
Becoming a DJ is like trying to get into a pro sushi kitchen. You have to prove yourself worthy, and when you are, it's for the rest of your life. It's a true brotherhood.
My first gig was a family reunion, free of charge, at a local park. I had two gig inquiries from bystanders by the time I was packing up. Be polite, share your suggestions, and be open to ideas.
Awesome vlog, DJ Carlo. I was fortunate enough to get paid on my 1st two gigs, and I invested them on somr DJ accessories that I needed such as a Controller bag for my controller and a laptop stand for my laptop. Another thing I want to add about charging clients for your DJing services is to charge whatever you think you are worth. This is an advise from DJ Barr from New Jersey.
I think your brilliant dude with your whole "preserve your ears and hearing". With like you said ear monitors or auto adjusting ear plugs. The same you use as if your at the gun range. A priceless piece of advice man seriously. Thanx 4 that reminder.
I love your videos! Thanks to you I managed to get a DDJ400 and I am loving mixing music on it! I really hope I can dj for a club someday.. But my social skills are not the best
Dopest Dj on earth, hands down! The amount of information your putting out here is just insane. You shudda Kept it to yourself, but since you’re such a cool guy you opted to put it out here anyway and i don’t think any DJ can top this,
Lodi, napaka inspiring ng kwento mo. I got my first DJ gig, but it is still a ways out in November. Nonetheless, I am happy I got a gig booked. Hopefully I can minimize the train wrecks. I will say, however, that after listening to you in this vid my confidence has been boosted.
First of, Thanks for sharing ideas for starters like me, I really enjoyed dj-ing Specially for my kids, they are my number 1 fan. My question is Is it hard to start using Records from using a controller? Or which one is better? Thanks and God speed..
DJ Carlo Atendid Heres a tip from an 80s 90 s DJ. If you can try to incorporate both but if you get a controller get one that's more simple but one that will grow with you. Using vynil ie something every dj should do but I know its 2018 not 1988 but ,Get a simple set up and as you get better get better equipment or add on
Angelo Dano hey Angelo here is my advice. First you need to figure out what kind of of system you feel more comfortable, ttb, CDs, controller or midis. Hand out at DJ store and try the all see what feel better to you, guitar center is a good place to start. Second once you have decided what kind of system to use, the second part is the type of software if you are planning to use some kind of media. Most ppl start with vitual DJ because it is. The most easiest to use as u get better then u can move to a more professional software such as serato, traktor or even rekorbox. Most ppl use serato but it is all up to you. Last you need to figure out what kind of DJ you want to be or do. The reason why I say this, because it determines the type of genre you will be doing. I hope you have started collecting music that where most of your money will go into it, if you get a beginners set up eventually you will upgrade the system as well. Try to get into a DJ pool that will provide the genres you will be doing, it willake you're life that much easier. Good luck my friend!!! Remember practice practice makes you better!!!
Ohhh! That's okaaaayy! You know what? A lot of people who comment here is as young as you! It's better because you have all the time to learn! Keep the passion burning!
#askDJCarlo Hey Dj Carlo, My question is, I wanna know how to introduce myself to clubs, bar and among other places. For example, I'll need to do a set, video set or just proof my skills on ddj, cdj.. Nowadays I am playing trap. Even though some people don't like trap music, I love due to have a gamut of possibilities on mixing.
How can you make people dance when u see someone is not enjoying the music, what kinds of thing you should say in a club gig in a middle of a song(specially at drop point)
My first gig was at a house party they wanted to pay me for it but I said no because I’m already glad I good mix sum nice tracks and see people have fun
Hi Carlo, Where do you find your new tracks? I have a lots of problems with searching new tracks. Nowdays DJs have to play the newest Top Hits and it's hard to keep step :s Thank u! Ur awesome!;)
I started to do house parties for free. I was terrible at the start but it was all to get exposure but now I have a gig every weekend and charge a 5er an hour, its a low price and my name gets around the social groups allowing me to dj at every party I know is going on!!!
Hi, a question regarding the "legal" part of being a DJ. I got a controller few months ago, and a friend asked me to perform for an event in a pub. But, I don't have any DJ "documents" so to speak. I know that you need a license, or the pub needs a public performance licence or smth like that. What are the steps to not get in trouble?
Hi Carlo, Thanks for your nice video. I see that you have a rx 2 in front of you. Did you saw the new DDJ 1000 from pioneer? What is your opinion. Controller with standalone mixer over the full standalone rx2? Wich one has your preference?
What's going on brother? Just want to comment on your content. Seems very good and also I seen some of your content that is very helpful for us DJs out there. I haven't DJ for a very long time, but definitely looking forward in getting back into it. And with that said, thank you very much for your videos in general. I ran into your channel and you have some really really great DJ video info that you provided for us your community via UA-cam. Again, thank you very much and God bless. Keep up the great work.
Carlo, can you give me/us some pointers on how a veteran dj can learn some scratches to add to his/her sets? I can do the baby scratch but my fader hand won’t coordinate with my record hand. I keep practicing but i never sound like you guys. My mixing skills are fine and im very comfortable mixing and moving from one genere to another. But like The Egyptian Lover said: “what is a dj if he can’t scratch”
I'm really interested.in DJing but I didn't started my course yet as a beginner due to some financial problems is there any other way to learn DJing first I thought it's a fun way to make money but now it really a interesting profession
I just have two questions how much should we invest to be a great dj n how much is the best software I find everywere really out of budget very costly plz suggest me by replying
Hey DJ Carlo, My problem is that every time I'm mixing I'm not able to decide which song to mix next until I scroll through my library. Has this ever happened to you? And also do shed some light on what can be done to overcome this. :)
I always pick a few tracks ( not too much ) when I'm rendering stuff trough rekordbox and then I know I'm 100% sure that I will play those tracks that night .. And the rest is just how the crowd is reacting to those .. For example .. My set is starting of with some alan walker track ( 90 bpm / track I wanted to play ) if a crowd is already ready to jump and go crazy then make them to .. For example u can mix a classic "go wild track" in like tsunami or animals .. And if there not ready to jump yet then don't make them to and just keep building the bpm slightly up with tracks so the case would be like : 1- Alan walker track ( 90 Bpm ) 2- tropical house track ( Around 100 bpm ) 3 -top 40 music ( between 100 - 130 mostly 4- check what your crowd wants 👍 Hope this was helpfull though .. Cheers ✌🏻
Just want to say the videos are helpful, and I just started to watch your video. Very! Barrier to entry is lower now than when I started, but my goodness, the sustainability is crazy intense due to competition!
Carlos you're so wholesome, your videos are all i want and more
My first gig was a family reunion, free of charge, at a local park. I had two gig inquiries from bystanders by the time I was packing up. Be polite, share your suggestions, and be open to ideas.
Indeed! The very first gigs are fine for free, but never give 2 free samples, and always move up to impress those watching. Good job bud!
how do you end up with two bystander injuries packing up your DJ gear.
That’s exactly what I said it’s about being consistent in the beginning the money will come 💯
