I really don't get why some people think Survivor is a set up, I'm not saying its easy, but its not like its the most difficult thing ever, and they aren't putting these people in life threatening situations either

I also wonder how long can the contestants of "Survivor" last doing a REAL survival show like Alone? They'll probably break a bunch of new records for fastest tap outs.
Don't be the least bit surprised if additional scenes were filmed on a California beach set. Or that there was additional productions being filmed on the island set for that matter. Don't think Price is Right was one of them, but you know what the joke is now.
And this is the reason shows like Survivorman became so popular. At the time it was the only REAL survival show. Not this stupid fake and staged crap that's literally just highschool on a tropical island. It's actually kind of funny now we have the show Alone that's the REAL Survivor. No 80 camera people and production crew on set at one time (yes this was confirmed by camera people who worked on the show), no staged and rigged events and no producers telling contestants to act a certain way for "drama". Also yes I personally met several people on TV sets who told me about their experience on "reality" shows and nothing real about them when compared to a typical scripted show. Instead Alone is a show where people who thinks they can survive off the wild are dropped into a cold climate, usually Canada, in the fall where they'll have about 30 days before winter hits and try and last the longest out there on their own.
