Even Shinn actually understands that most of SEED's animations are reused over and over. No wonder Shinn can read Freedom's pattern, thus managed to swoop Kira's butt back then.
@SeriesJaponesasOnline for real? I watched Evangelion too and discounting the flashbacks and sort, they rarely recycled the scenes, particularly during the mecha fight.
@SeriesJaponesasOnline I did, but I guess those didn't even that close to how worse SEED and SEED Destiny reused their assets to be honest. Ep 25 and 26 of Evangelion did have some kind of flashbacks and stuffs to tell so it's kinda forgiven, especially considering how relatively bizarre the reason and concepts behind episode 25 and 26, afaik. And yes, ep 26 did use Misato scene from the early episode in the alternate reality scene, as well as a bit of reused scenes from ep 25. But that's pretty much it, it's far from worse compared to SEED/SEED Destiny.
But in the end he got trashed by strike freedom and requires legend for assistance who throw its dual rife grab his sword and beam him at his face directly
19:39 kira got cornered & try to hit it in the cockpit, but he was wrong, impulse could disengage his lower part. & shin try to hit the cockpit, he was success, but he was wrong, that cockpit was on the chest not in the belly like any common mobilesuit.
Shinn knows where the Freedom cockpit was. It was a Zaft suit. Kira fell for the same separation trick twice and he knows Impulse is made up of four parts.
So basically, this is probably how Shinn should have been portrayed for the whole series. Deeply wanting revenge, but also able to be intelligent in his planning for it. Could have been a great anti-hero.
aaahh the good ol days.. I remember watching this with my two older brothers back in 2006. my mouth was literally wide open and we siblings were so quiet for a good 15 mins up until the end of the ending song 🤣🤣 Kira Yamato getting beaten and possibly getting killed was really a shocker for me as a kid 🤣
In Kira defense, He need a new frame but the wife not allow it. So he has to crash it with Shin's blade so he get an excuse for Lucus to get him a new one. What lucky bastard.
Let’s think about this logically. What does Shinn do in this situation? Does he turn her over to ZAFT where she will likely be dissected, experimented on and killed for the sake of science, or does he give her over to the one person in this world, as evil as he might be, that just MIGHT be able to ease her pain and take care of her. Sure it seems boneheaded but if you were in the same situation what would you pick? Certain death for the person you love or the slight chance that they’ll be okay? It was probably the only rational decision in this entire fucking show
@@officialFredDurstfanclub Shinn's rationality is fueled by his lower body. Logically putting her out of her misery is the most humane thing to do. legit put a bullet in her head.
This fight could have been done so much better. Once Shinn arrives, Kira only uses his beam rifle and sword. He makes no other attempts at attacking. Kira earlier shoots down other mobile suits with no problem using his full arsenal, but for the Impulse (his biggest threat) he doesn't? This issue is fixed by having Shinn break the cannons on top first. The first one with his shield maneuver, the second when he blows up his chest piece as Kira attempts to fire at the legs thinking that Shinn still needs them. This leaves Kira with two leg cannons that are slower to fire against a more mobile enemy. At 19:39 Kira goes for a mid body blow. He's shot from behind? The Impulse's rifle is on the legs, which Shinn just separated from. So Kira missed his slash and was in so much shock that Shinn was able to re-form the body, drop the beam saber, grab the rifle and fire? Erm, whoops. So, we take the separation part out. As Kira is falling from the chest piece maneuver, send out the Chest, Force and Sword. As Kira attempts to fly back up, replace it with the sequence from 19:58 to 20:05. Have Shinn throw both smaller blades, forcing Kira towards the Archangel. Why? Because Shinn is going to do his bull rush move still, but this time he'll be in the line of fire of the Minerva. The Archangel detaches it's engine as it does, causing the explosion we see. The cannon doesn't fire not wanting to hit Shinn. Shinn continues the rush. Instead of being distracted by cannon fire, Kira is focused on Shinn's approach. He throw his shield, (re-using the Impulse animation from earlier). Shinn pierces through the shield but distracts his vision. Kira moves down slightly to avoid the tip of the sword piercing the cockpit. As he does, he turns off the N-Jammer. Impulse takes out the head of the Freedom.
there was a good small detail I noticed in 21:24 . when Kira raised his shield up for the incoming stab, he inadvertently covered his mobile suit's body and by proxy, his own cockpit positioning. that little action of his managed to save his life because at that point, Shinn was just gunning for it and couldn't tell where to deal a more fatal blow.
shinn knows all mobile suit cockpits are in that one position, but only the freedom, justice and providence are the only suits with the cockpit placed directly under the head, since they are the only ones with nuclear power that is stored where the cockpit should be. So kira was kinda giving time to shut down the nuclear power and then gave himself another case of plot armor
@@Randomvideos-zi7pe Kira got two plot armors one you can't shut down a nuclear reactor in a second and second he shouldn't have survived that explosion
For those wondering how both Kira and Archangel survive, the novel series says that Kira manages to shut off the nuclear reactor of Freedom just before he loses consciousness, and as a result the nuclear explosoin which would have incinerated everything is avoided. As for Archangel, it jettisons one of its engines right after it is hit by Minerva's positron cannon, so that explosion under the sea is actually caused by that destroyed engine and not the ship itself.
He doesn't deserve it. Not after everything he suffered. It wouldn't have been as good of an ending. Killing Kira here would deprive Shinn of the final redemption he needed. To know that his most hated enemy was also another kid just like him, and in many ways, someone that almost became just like him: hateful, myopic, uncontrollably angry, mentally frayed. He doesn't deserve to die here, but this IS an expected consequence of following Cagalli's vain attempts to pacify the ORB fleet, and just being the biggest stick around.
Impulse itself is a counter for kira. Legs, arms ,head (main camera) can be replaced. So kira must aim the cockpit to win against impulse. If kira shoots all laser at once aiming all body parts, he might have a chance. But shin will charge fearlessly as he had already knew that kira will not kill him. That what happened at the very end. Impulse rushes through with excalibur (big sword) aiming for freedom cockpit while kira aims for impulse's head.
Kira still kills, but only when he has to. Like when he decided to kill Stella. If he didn't kill her she would have continued to wreak havoc and killed more innocent civilians. It's like the classic trolley problem. He analyzes the situation before he makes the decision. He wanted to save the lives of countless people over taking the life of an individual.
He already defeated the impulse in that battle twice, it’s just that those backpacks and body for impulse can be resupplied which gave Shinn the advantage over that battle.
@@darkpenguin7498 he actually surprised Kira, and he realized he knows little about that mobile suit. If they had a rematch kira would already be aware of its capabilities then and would unlikely even get hit
I agree Impulse is a counter for kira but not for freedom. AND it actually only worked because kira had no knowledge of this mobile suit which constantly surprised him more than twice during this battle. Kira already defeated impulse in this battle 2 times and keeps coming back because of backup parts. If they had a rematch kira would now have full knowledge of this suit's capabilities I doubt he'll get hit again. So impulse really works as a counter only once because of the surprise mofo moments
I noticed how versatile the Impulse is: you can have a pack equipped and ask for a different set of equipment sent out on a flyer and simply grab whatever stuff is on there without swapping out the entire pack. This makes it a very well rounded machine superior to the Strike.
Heero's right there, you know. Funny how people forget about his even more ridiculous plot armor when he's survived what Kira has with far less protection more frequently.
Honestly, Heero's Plot Armor is nothing compared to Kira's. I'm not saying it's acceptable, but to say that Heero had worse plot Armor than Kira is a lie
I do wish they at least made an attempt at explaining how Kira survives. I get that he ejected the nuclear core for that explosion, but how exactly did he survive the nuclear explosion and swam to the archangel? I think there is a series called seed eclipse, where the eclipse gundam is built from these remains of the freedom. Well... i guess kira has a great swimming arm. So does Athrun btw. 😂
Honestly that's not what supposed to happen based on the scene. Kira deactivated the N Jammer Canceler, which should have deactivated his gundam's nuclear reactor and prevented the nuclear explosion
That's actually not wrong. Durandal letting Shinn off with no more than some hours in the brig was the start of his ego getting worse. The sheer myopia of getting angry at the Freedom for stopping something that was doing to what he blames ORB for but on wider scales was the next step. And though he defeated the undefeatable Freedom here, it's clear this frayed his mind even further.
Athrun's expression was well illustrated here. Watching your best friend getting killed was literally devastating. Perhaps this was the tilting point of his own consciousness whether or not, the path he's walking to right ZAFT was the correct decision. Such an elaborated plot, took me so long to realise that Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny were truly gems deserving of recognition.
Now that I'm watching the series at the older age, I realized that seed destiny was actually well written. The protagonist issue that was mentioned back in the day (between kira and shinn) was not a result of bad writing, it was just kira's presence (or lacus's faction for that matter) simply outshines shinn's.
@@alexandrostheodorou8387 Honestly, with what we know of the animation industry now, what's not to say that said same issues weren't present even then? It's annoying and repetitive, but it's hardly a new thing (been done since the 70s), and again, what's not to say that this was to ensure they wouldn't bust their budget.
Freedom's solo shot at 17:37 with its beam rifle looks so cool!!!! I'm just sad that the OG Freedom lost it's edge hadn't Kira had to protect Cagalli and the Archangel all by himself.....
Freedom vs Impulse is still the best 1v1 fight in Gundam IMO. It’s so impactul and I love how Shinn and Rey exploit Kira’s weakness. This is coming from someone that absolutely loves Freedom. The only thing I hate is that Kira survived: this would have been such an amazing send off to one of the most popular suits.
As the strongest Cordinator, SHIN fought the fraud, the king of plot armor. He began entering his SEED mode. Kira shrunk back in fear, then SHIN said : "Stand proud Kira, you are STRONG."
It was explained long ago that the explosion was created by the positron cannon hitting archangle engine, kira managed to shutdown the nuclear reactor of freedom thus saving both shinn and minerva (also himself)
21:02 at that moment when force impulse grabbed his anti-ship sword excalibur i mimic saber preparing to use her Noble Phantasms 21:19 Ekusu... 21:25 CALIBAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Okay.. got to give it to Shinn here, his fighting style is incredible! Using one of the Impulses features to his advantage and seperating parts mid-combat.. 21:25 I panicked in this scene, I thought Kira was gonna die AGAIN.. But then I remembered that the Freedom's cockpit is in its chest not its stomach unlike the other MS.. 😂
honestly, Athrun stayed too much with Zaft at this point. honestly i can't understand his motivation now in this moments. he should leave in this moment
Also was just shouting that Kira did nothing wrong. The talk with Cap Gladys was nice but he didn't even cared to explain who Kira is to Shinn and folks lol. If he did i think Luna would be the one going with him
How exactly is he supposed to leave "in this moment"? The ship is in active battle, whats he gonna do? Go up to the captain and say "Hey can you let me off so I can go defect to the archangel real quick?"
Shinn needed extra parts - chest flyer, another force silhouette flyer, and the sword silhouette armaments and a help from the Minerva just to beat the Freedom and a Kira who is not 100% focused 🙂
I may be biased, but I think the lines in this are better in English Dub. Kira screaming ‘NOOOOOOO’ as he gets rushed by Impulse rather than ‘What?’ and, like you said, Murrue telling everyone to calm the fuck down.
Sometimes,it was a good decision for Captain Raimus said Cagalli to sit down because if Cagalli sortie to save Kira that time, Shinn would be crash Cagalli and become more worst. That's why during start episode 35,she goes out to save Kira after Shinn was withdrew from battlefield .
ok this is just a theory, what if kira already planned getting hit all along? i mean he did told the archangel crew to head for the sea and probably added more specific info in what to do that wasn't mentioned (jettison one of archangel's engine by the time the freedom gets hit).... also kira can probably evade shinn's fatal blow if he wanted to but chose to try to block an incoming armor piercing anti-ship sword 😅
Kira told AA to leave him behind since he could theoretically escape and survive on his own for a time without the need for more energy, but I doubt he planned on getting Freedom destroyed and himself nearly killed. He probably just wanted to dive into the water after them, and would have probably made it if he'd been a few seconds faster.
The old ZAFT Commander...hi Jamitov! Also, ya'll piping up about Kira's plot armor when Heero's got way more plot armor, yet I see more people rag on Kira and praise Heero. Double standards, I swear. Now, Kira DID have this coming. Expected consequence of him choosing to follow Cagalli's lead in vainly trying to cease the fighting. But saying he should've died here? Honestly not. Not after everything SEED and the two years did to break him.
The most distracted fight Kira has ever had, since he was barely paying any attention to it. So distracted with trying to get to the archangel and what was happening over there, to really focus on Shinn attacking him really. It's a good fight non the less, but I don't think it was a very fair fight for Shinn, considering that Kira was distracted. Still dislike Shinn's character though, since he had some unwanted anger towards Kira for half the darn series. This anger is understandable, considering Kira did kill his girl though.
My argument for those who said Shinn is better than Kira, one is fighting a bunch of enemy while trying to avoid critical hit on them and protecting its mother ship by itself and the other one fighting with hatred and was planning ahead of the fight and knowing the freedom would only hit certain spot so he couldn’t careless. Needless to say good fight but truthfully Kira could’ve destroy Shinn 2x already if it wasn’t for his ideal of not killing.
@@meijinsolbraves but when Kira faced Shinn, the fight was 1 on 1. the Minerva may sent silhouettes and replacement parts, but all the decision makings came from Shinn. we should think it as Impulse's unique features as one of its design's pro as it was why the Impulse was made in the first place, similar to how the Freedom having its multiple weapons at once in its arsenal powered by a nuclear reactor, allowed by neutron jammer canceler while the others didn't. there are a few things I would like to point out: based on how I see things 1. the fight would never be completely fair, and neither it should've been. it was a war, and war was never fair. if you think it the other way, Kira has superior genetic as a super coordinator, and he uses arguably the strongest MS around at the time, having multiple arsenal as a package, powered by nuclear reactor, having arguably almost unlimited energy resuply. sure the technology was outdated, however it still holds up to the current technologies. on the other hand, the only things the Impulse had as its pros on its own was probably the VPS and core block system, and even the core block system has its own cons. before the 2nd bloody valentine started, Kira had his experiences in a real war while Shinn only had his military training in his academy. sure, there would be pros and cons on each of them, but with all the things have been said, I would say that its likely more unfair to Shinn rather than Kira, and making it so he could stand on equal ground, or even higher, making it unfair on Kira was Shinn's job. sure, Shinn was properly trained at the time while Kira was inactive, but it was no one's fault that Kira didn't improve himself after the war while Shinn did, arguably no one other than Kira himself. 2. "planning ahead of the fight and knowing the freedom would only hit certain spot so he couldn’t careless". the way I see it, that wasn't a counter-argument to how Shinn is better than Kira, but contrarily rather proving it or at least, indicate that he is actually better than Kira. Shinn did his research on Freedom, how it acts and what it can do... yes with some help from his friend. but rather making it undervaluing it, it was something that indeed he should've done, and he did. Kira didn't want to kill didn't make him weaker, it merely change his objectives and the way he acts, as he certainly still trying his best to do things(otherwise that would be very dumb of him and undervaluing Kira's character, and he was in SEED mode). Shinn was able to read that, and made the counter strategy to fight the Freedom, and he deserves the W he got. Shinn knowing Kira aiming at certain spots didn't factually making him care less on his cockpit, on the contrary it needs him to pay extra attention to every other things that are not cockpit. you may think it was easier for Shinn because Kira wouldn't target his cockpit, but if you think it the other way, Kira being able to put battlefield on chaos and disabled a lot of MSs is arguably because no one was able to read the way he acts, and they didn't have the ability to prevent that even if they did. Shinn choosing the strategy is precisely because thats how Kira is. if Kira was someone who mainly aimed at cockpits, then its more likely that Shinn would try to use different strategies in that context. would he still win regardless? that is a very different topic. 3. another thing to be pointed out on how Kira trying not to kill for his ideals, can you say with absolute certainty that Kira wouldn't betray his ideals when the situation calls for the necessarity? even if it costs everything important to him? because I would say no, not because I want to call him a hypocrite for betraying his own ideals, but rather because it would've been dumb of him if he did keeping his ideals in such time, and thank God he arguably didn't. yes, Kira tried his best to not kill, but from what I've seen I would say that Kira would kill when its necessary. and even when he didn't trying to kill, it ended up getting some people killed, and could've gotten more people killed without the intention of doing so. Kira didn't try to kill Nicole, yet he ended up killing him. he went full on the intention of killing Athrun after the later killed Tolle, and he also went full on killing Rau. Kira may not directly kill Heine, but Heine was killed partially because the chaos that Kira created without him intentionally doing so, and that could've been said the same for Shinn's family(before somehow they removed it in episode 20 for obvious reasons). arguably, Kira decided to kill Stella on episode 32 even if he didn't aim at her cockpit, but even if he didn't intentionally trying to kill her, the explosion of the canon would probably kill her regardless for obvious reason. and don't forget, the minerva crews when he shot the tarnhauser, the crew of the messiah when Kira fired his meteor full burst in it, and the indication that Kira would've shot Durandal if Rey hasn't done it.
4. adding point 3 to this Freedom vs Impulse's fight, Its very likely that Kira betrayed his own ideal and tried to kill Shinn at some certain point. Kira arguably was trying to kill Shinn before he splitted his mid-section, and before anyone says that he was trying to aim at the leg like what he did to Duel for the same animation, I would like to argue the contrary. first, IMO what decides Kira aiming for the leg wasn't the swing animation, but rather the animation when he destroyed Duel's leg. not to mention that SEED likes to use recycled animation for many different things as well. its even more less than likely now because they decided to replace the swing animation with a newer one, starting from special edition while the Freedom vs Duel still using the same old animation. and I still have some few other things to support my point. MG Freedom 2.0 manual claimed that Kira decided to try killing Shinn after he was cornered, and Ishida Akira (Athrun's VA) and Suzumura Kenichi (Shinn's VA) think that Kira was trying to kill Shinn at that point, based on what they said in SEED 120% in the commentary of episode 34. of course, all these 2nd opinions don't factually prove that Kira was absolutely trying to kill Shinn at that Scene with 100% certainty, but these 2nd opinions still hold weights to be put into consideration for the indication, and I would personally say that it is highly more than enough. with those in mind, Shinn was still able to dodge the attack, indicating that he didn't care less for the possibility of Kira trying to kill him, and anticipated the attack even with the mindset of Kira trying to aim things other than cockpit. it shows that not even Kira is Godly invicible and could do whatever he wants when he has the intention to. Kira may arguably had some chances to kill Shinn if he wanted to (twice I assume, with the later confirmed to be failed in that thought process after he wasted the first one). BUT, even if he did trying to kill Shinn at the first attempt, and even hypotheticaly DID able to kill Shinn, that wouldn't be any proof that Kira is better than Shinn. Kira didn't get the chances to kill Shinn because he could kill him whenever he wants, but simply because the chance itself arise at that point, and he missed it. second time he tried to, he failed because Shinn was able to read him. if all these research and strategies, along with Shinn's determination and flexibility to be able to read situational combat againts an exceptionally extraordinary pilot and MS wasn't enough to convince you that Shinn is better than Kira, then it doesn't make sense to say that Kira is still better than Shinn and could've killed him simply because he wasted a chance. he couldn't kill Shinn whenever he wants. yes, Kira is more genetically gifted, has more accuracy, had a better MS and has more war experiences. but he wasn't the better pilot because he has them, he wasn't the better pilot because he didn't use them(assuming thats what you think), and more likely because he didn't use them properly (what I think based on that assumption), or that he "wasn't able" to use them properly (what I actually think). or simply, all of it still wasn't enough to defeat Shinn. 5. before anyone saying "Kira only used beam saber and rifle despite having more such as baleena and xhipias railgun", I would like to have some things to say on this. to me, using mainly beam saber and rifle was a good choices on his part. in fact, I think this is where Kira had the best decision makings in the entire series. while fullburst works well on multiple target, I don't think its really suitable to use againts an ace pilot, especially one who fights with mid to close range. you can see that Shinn has high evansiveness stats. he usually dodges range attacks while getting close to them, even in the Impulse. one of a few example is when he battled Destroy in Berlin. using those ranged weapons on mid to close range opponent is probably hard, and based on what I've seen only the fast enough xiphias railgun was able to hit Shinn(with the help of sword catching and dragoon pressuring him). in this case, those full burst weapon aren't effective againts Impulse, not to mention that Kira's accuracy is perfect that its easier for Shinn to read and predict them(put Ramba ral's reference here), and once Shinn hypothetically managed to get close on him, Kira will be open for attack. vulcan certainly doesn't work on VPS, so I guess rifle and saber are what necessary to use. I don't think simply using more is absolutely necessary. otherwise Shinn would've sent the Blast silhouette. Shinn didn't request those flyers because more is necessary. he requested them because what he requested ARE necessary for the situation. 6. before anyone says "Shinn has supports and unlimited resources, so he couldn't care less getting destroyed, it was unfair" like most people in the contra that I've been seeing in general, realisticaly speaking the resources are absolutely limited to be board on a ship. sure there are multiple of them but the number is definitely not infinite. and Shinn didn't necessarily wasting them either. take an example of Danzo vs Sasuke. he wasted a lot of sharingan for Izanagi only for Sasuke to kill him every each time, and even outsmarted him at the end. this could happen in Freedom VS Impulse but it wasn't necessarily what happened. yes, Impulse could replace damaged parts, but while it does the Freedom could receives an opening to attack if Shinn simply replaced parts. however, Shinn caught Kira off guards, crashed the damaged parts and making it explodes, buying time for Impulse to replace parts. Shinn then pressured Kira to go offensive and prevented it to happen again. a lot of people tend to say that Shinn keep replacing parts after Kira destroyed it many times, or will keep replacing parts even if Kira destroyed them again. but factually, the number of Kira destroying them in a meaningful way and Shinn replaced those parts to continue the battle are only one. after that, he couldn't land another hit despite his trying, other than the desperately saber stab on the main camera at the end. and before anyone says he still didn't decide to kill Shinn at the end because the saber hit the head, No. there are no factual basis that confirm he didn't intend to aim at the cockpit other than the assumption that Kira "can hit wherever he wants whenever he wants if he intend to do so". that might be work on anyone in general, but its a bit different with Shinn. he wasn't just anyone, there might be a possibility that Kira just couldn't. sure it doesn't factually prove that he couldn't, simply because he didn't, but I would say its less likely especially when Shinn threw him off balance with the flash edge boomerang.
7. yes, the fight was unfair, but thats the point. all is fair in war, making it unfair is totally fair, and it would never be fair. but if anyone is still persistent on the "unfairness", let's look it at technical points of this fight. If we're talking about unfairness, I would say its unfair for Kira to use the Freedom Gundam, not because it was more powerful than the Impulse, but because it was installed with nuclear reactor and neutron jammer canceler. why? I wasn't talking about how powerful they are, I was talking about the treaty. if there is any concrete written rule for the war, it was the junius treaty. after the 1st bloody valentine war, the use of nuclear reactor, neutron jammer canceler and meteor colloid are banned in the treaty. if anyone cheats, it was Kira, not Shinn. of course, I don't have anything to argue with how Kira or Shinn do things, they have things to do in war. but Kira wasn't completely saint about this so-called "fair fight" either. the Freedom gundam wasn't officially his to begin with. not to mention how powerful they are compared to other MSs, I don't think anyone is in any position to call Shinn "unfair" if you take those into consideration. 8. everyone talks as if Shinn would've been dead if Kira goes for the kill and went for bloodlust, but could you say that with absolute 100% certainty? because I don't think so. based on what I see, Kira going berserk didn't amplified his skills. he goes desperate, which could help, yes, but it also makes him more reckless, and doesn't always guarantee him the win, especially on Ace pilots. Kira went absolutely bloodlust on Athrun, and almost got blown to the face before Aegis running out of energy. when he went for providance, he charged on it, ignoring the main camera and the part close to the cockpit. yes he won, but it was not with struggle and the possibility of fatal blows, and it certainly wasn't an easy win. going berserk and bloodlust are not always necessarily better. actually, I think that was what ended up making Shinn "not the better pilot" at the last 1/4 part of SEED Destiny. he gotten very reckless after all that happened. I think Kira is at his top condition when he is calm and could think clearly. "no, I was talking about Kira simply targetting for kills in his normal focused state". then that doesn't make Kira any different than others, other than being more skillful at it. but holding back kills =/= holding back skills. kira still did his best when trying to disable. he simply shifted his purpose and changed his objective. Kira didn't lose to Shinn because he targeted things other than the cockpit, he lost to Shinn because he targeted things other than the cockpit with Shinn already expecting it. Shinn used that tactics precisely because he was aware how Kira acts, and prepared countermeasurements for it. Shinn wasn't so dumb to ignore his cockpit when his enemy decided to aim at it, just because he thinks his enemy always target everything aside from the cockpit. look again at point 4. 9. "Kira was distracted" so what? it was no one's fault other than his own. if Kira wasn't able to keep his focus because he was distracted, then it was his own weakness/flaws, not an excuse to prove that he was still the better one. if Kira was as good as people claimed him to be, its precisely why he should be able to maintain his focus to protect his comrades. and as far as I concerned, when he enganged Shinn 1 on 1, he is still visibly focused enough, until Shinn destroyed one of the wing and Kira decided to focus on running away. at crete, the Minerva was almost destroyed because EA and AA, and Shinn is rather more determined to protect it rather than getting distracted. of course, I think highly of Kira, and I actually do think that he was determined to protect the AA. but I'm saying this because I think there are some flaws in the thought process when anyone claim that "Kira is actually better, he lost only because he got distracted". and it wasn't as if Kira was actively protecting the Archangel, involved with other soldiers when he enganged on Shinn, so the only actual obstacle that he faced at the time was Shinn. 10. Kira is an exceptional pilot for sure, he is one of the strongest pilots around, but let's not underestimate Shinn too much. yes, Kira is more genetically gifted, has more experiences and had better MS. but Shinn has different types of pros that could indicate he was or could be the better pilot. I would like to simply say that Kira and Shinn have each of their own pros and cons. yes Shinn was 2 years younger and has less experiences, and he wasn't as genetically gifted as Kira, but compared to him, Shinn has been properly trained in military academy. this is a part that Kira lacks. also, based from what I see, while Shinn may statically has less raw power than what Kira has(genetic, accuracy etc.), Shinn has more awareness on situational combat, making him able to use what he has to the fullest. I'll take some example. at the battle of Berlin, Kira arrived first and battled the Destroy. I would say that this was where he could simply focus on stopping the thing without over worrying his teammates compared to what happened in angel down, and yet, he spent half episode wasn't able to do anything to Destroy Gundam, not mainly because the interferances of Windam or Chaos (with the later being dealt by Murasames), but mainly because anything Kira did has no effect on Destroy Gundam. the thing had massive beam reflectors, and yet he keep using beam rifles and full burst, ended up getting deflected to its surrounding. second half, Shinn briefed on Destroy Gundam, arrived and tried to attack Destroy with beam rifle once. he finds it didn't work, and immediately switched into beam saber. he dodged those beams and damaged Destroy when he was able to get close enough. Shinn was able to take Destroy's first blood despite him barely arrived and Kira getting there first. the reason why Shinn is able to do so wasn't because he statically better than Kira, but because he was able to read the situations and making an effective attempts with what he has in his arsenal. later episodes kinda show that beam reflectors weren't effective to melee attacks, especially physical(Rey's Legend melee dragoon and Yzak's Gouf whip got past those beam reflectors in later episodes), similar to how Exia was equiped with GN sword to get past GN field. if the enemy aimed at your cockpit, protect your cockpit. if they mainly target anything aside from cockpit, pay extra attention to them. if range weapon didn't work, switch to melee. if you're not gonna be able to make it to the positrion canon, be creative and make an instant bomb using one of the MS around. if you seemingly couldn't completely dodge an enemy's attack, pull an emergency maneuver and detach your exploding backpack, use that momentum and throw your javelin in that opening. Shinn wasn't better because he is statically better than Kira, he is arguably better because he can read situational combat and do decision makings for his own strategies. not only that, but he also need the ability and skills to pull all of those things off.
I do think Shinn is better than Kira in general, but that was merely my opinion, and yes, I value my own opinion. if anyone think that Kira is better than Shinn, that is totally fine, I can respect that. I don't claim any of these characters better than the others as the fact. things like this are subjectives, but I did use facts for my reasoning in these opinions. and no, when I said fact, I merely stated what happened. my subjective takes on those facts are entirely different matters though. fact has no connotation, it simply what actually happened. Kira arrived first and Shinn second in berlin, Freedom got destroyed by Impulse, Destiny got destroyed by Infinite Justice, Aegis exploded itself and destroyed Strike, MG Freedom Manual 2.0 says that Kira decided to destroy the cockpit, the VAs said that Kira was trying to hit the cockpits. good, bad, right, wrong, strong, weak, those facts doesn't include all of these subjective connotation. all of these subjective takes are what being discussed. just because the VA says that Kira aimed at cockpit, it doesnt automatically prove that Kira was absolutely went for the cockpit. on the other hand, just because Athrun thinks Kira wouldn't lose to Shinn, Kira would've won. Kira may say that he was unsure, and while he seems not one to lie, only him and God/writter knows if it was factually the truth or not. and it didn't prove that he would've won if he wasn't so "unsure". it is very understandable if it ended up being different because each people can look the same thing from different perspectives. personally, I think generally Athrun is the strongest so far, with Shinn came 2nd and Kira being the 3rd. Athrun is properly trained, and has the most experiences. but Athrun tends to be confused on a lot of things, and it affected his surroundings. he was undefeated when he was in SEED mode. Shinn has the most potentials to be better. I think out of the three, he has shown the most progress in his growth. out of the three, he was the most straightforward, creative and able to read situational combats when facing greater obstacles by being focused and utterly determined. his weakness was his immaturity, and the war is taking toll on his mentality. it was estabilished that when he worked hard, he could beat talent. he surpassed Rey on exams(drama CD vol 6), and his researchs allowed him to defeat super coordinator. its definitely not a bad thing considering that the message was genetic doesn't determine one's future and destiny. Kira has the best stats and the most genetically gifted. but he lacks proper training in term of proper combats. while his battle senses are good, I do think it wasn't as good as the other two. Kira never overwhelmed Shinn every time Shinn entered SEED mode. yes Kira may has the better stats, but after analyzing all of their traits, each of their pros and cons, I do think Shinn is slightly better as a pilot. I don't think the difference margins for each of them are large tho. if you put them againts each other, the outcomes could go on any way based on the situations though, I can't say any of them are absolutely better than the others. but it does bug me a lot when anyone took a subjective opinions and imply it as facts. from what Ive seen, I think people generally would state their opinion as a fact because they were insecure about their own opinions, they couldn't bear it when anyone disagree, so they put a strong word like fact, when what they actually stated was the opinion based on those facts. or maybe they are simply an egoistical and looking down on others. you're free to think that Kira would have Destroyed Shinn if he wanted to, but before you go around and telling other people about that, I hope you take everything I said into consideration. could the fight went differently if Kira act different? probably. but if he did, most likely Shinn would act differently as well. and who would win in those scenarios? honestly, who knows...all the speculations could go either way, but the only thing I can say for sure is that none of them happened. many factors affected that battle, be it internally or externally. you can't simply take one variable out of the equation, and the result would automatically switched to what you think in life, because that single variable could affect on and be affected by another variables. you heard trial and errors? when you try to replace one variable, another unexpected variable came out of nowhere, and it wouldn't always be as smooth as you expected. otherwise, my life would have been so easy by now. no one would absolutely know how it would unless they redo it again. but as it stands, Shinn destroyed the Freedom Gundam, simple and clean. what your takes on it considering all the different variables are completely up to you. man this was very long, but if I don't say this much I feel like I wouldn't let my interpretation clear. this may as well be a one way communication, but honestly just letting it off from my chest makes me feel better.

The proof that shinn never did beat kira because he wasn't fighting as a "soldier". Shinn had every intention to kill him while knowing he himself would not be killed. Kira could have also logically fought the impulse till a standstill till is power ran out and dismantled the impulse. I never did like this encounter...
Its called using your ms advantage to beat ur opponent simple as that. In the end shinn predicted that a cornered mouse will try to bite(attacking the cockpit)
@@gradychristian6414 The final blow was shinn struck the freedoms mid-section while kira countered with his beam saber through the impulses head unit. @@nurinadibah4315 In all honesty Shinn and Neo are both equally to blame for Stella's death. in this battle, Kira does not fight like that; he may be surprised by shin's tactic but that would have worn off quickly, the showrunners slowed down Kira more than a 100% for shin to be able to keep up that the freedom looked like a statue for shin to hit it, when shin attacked with the plane Kira would have swatted it out of the sky, and why did the Freedom tumbled when Kira blocked the sword? and of course Freedom just stood there in order for shin to impale it
Kinda irritating that people just doesn't finish their sentences lol. It's just the script but i feel like it hurts Athrun's character so much and Shinn over time becomes too shallow doing that.
Even Shinn actually understands that most of SEED's animations are reused over and over. No wonder Shinn can read Freedom's pattern, thus managed to swoop Kira's butt back then.
haha that's why Seed's battle scenes are better 😅
@SeriesJaponesasOnline for real? I watched Evangelion too and discounting the flashbacks and sort, they rarely recycled the scenes, particularly during the mecha fight.
@SeriesJaponesasOnline okay thanks for ruining my sweet sweet memory of eva.
19:39
kira got cornered & try to hit it in the cockpit, but he was wrong, impulse could disengage his lower part.
Could have been a great anti-hero.
actually it was rey who told shin how to game Kira's tactic and program shin's gundam
aaahh the good ol days..

Lol shinn blaming kira for stella's death when he returned her to neo 🤣🤣
Yeah. Because Shinn didn't realized that he sent to Neo🤣🤣🤣

And thus the legend of Jesus Yamato was born.

Freedom and the Archangel are struggling in this fight because they are both trying to protect cagalli
Shinn saw through Kira's habits and telegraphed style. 😮
If kira actually dies here, and Athrun takes the mantle as the main protagonist. This show wouldnt be as notorious.
He already defeated the impulse in that battle twice, it’s just that those backpacks and body for impulse can be resupplied which gave Shinn the advantage over that battle.
my question is, how many parts do they have? Also if they have a bunch of them then why not have a second core fighter? or third.

The fact that Kira survives past this episode is some of the biggest plot armor ever in Gundam, maybe even anime, history.

Just the battle animations sucked. The story itself is pretty solid.

@@meijinsolbraves but when Kira faced Shinn, the fight was 1 on 1. the Minerva may sent silhouettes and replacement parts, but all the decision makings came from Shinn. we should think it as Impulse's unique features as one of its design's pro as it was why the Impulse was made in the first place, similar to how the Freedom having its multiple weapons at once in its arsenal powered by a nuclear reactor, allowed by neutron jammer canceler while the others didn't. there are a few things I would like to point out: based on how I see things
1. the fight would never be completely fair, and neither it should've been. it was a war, and war was never fair. if you think it the other way, Kira has superior genetic as a super coordinator, and he uses arguably the strongest MS around at the time, having multiple arsenal as a package, powered by nuclear reactor, having arguably almost unlimited energy resuply. sure the technology was outdated, however it still holds up to the current technologies. on the other hand, the only things the Impulse had as its pros on its own was probably the VPS and core block system, and even the core block system has its own cons. before the 2nd bloody valentine started, Kira had his experiences in a real war while Shinn only had his military training in his academy. sure, there would be pros and cons on each of them, but with all the things have been said, I would say that its likely more unfair to Shinn rather than Kira, and making it so he could stand on equal ground, or even higher, making it unfair on Kira was Shinn's job. sure, Shinn was properly trained at the time while Kira was inactive, but it was no one's fault that Kira didn't improve himself after the war while Shinn did, arguably no one other than Kira himself.
Kira went absolutely bloodlust on Athrun, and almost got blown to the face before Aegis running out of energy. when he went for providance, he charged on it, ignoring the main camera and the part close to the cockpit. yes he won, but it was not with struggle and the possibility of fatal blows, and it certainly wasn't an easy win. going berserk and bloodlust are not always necessarily better. actually, I think that was what ended up making Shinn "not the better pilot" at the last 1/4 part of
SEED Destiny. he gotten very reckless after all that happened.

Lucky for foolish shinn kira never want to kill an enemy, he never aim on the pilots cockpit, they take advantage of that, kira decapitate impulse so if kira wanted to that moment would have been shinn end
kira lose because he broke his promise with the intention of not killing, he wanted to kill at 19:39 , when he met Shinn who knew how to overcome his attacks,so kira deserved to lose this time, and shinn get title 'freedom killer' in seed freedom.stop giving reason kira fans.

i seriously think shinn is a waste of a character. I dotn get how anyone can be that pathetic to blame everyone else for stuff and not see a bigger picture. I mean they all have ptsd and shouldnt be real soldiers in the first place but Shinn is a joke. His gf was out of her mind and was killing so man innocent people yet he only thinks of her. Like be an adult do you really think Kira wouldnt kill her if didnt have to. But whatever shinn is the eqivulant of Kira without support from those around him who actually understand his pain and dont use them to control him.
Shinn didn't think twice before aiming for Freedom cockpit really what if Kira didn't deactivate the Neutron Jammer canceller in time he could've killed himself and everyone who was in there including the Archangel and the Minerva

This is the Ultra, Ultimate, Hyper, Super, Best episode in the Gundam Seed Destiny! I love it when the Shinn BEAT Kira in this battle! OH YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

More of, it was time for the bad writing and awful tons of plot armor to take over.
in this battle, Kira does not fight like that; he may be surprised by shin's tactic but that would have worn off quickly, the showrunners slowed down Kira more than a 100% for shin to be able to keep up that the freedom looked like a statue for shin to hit it, when shin attacked with the plane Kira would have swatted it out of the sky, and why did the Freedom tumbled when Kira blocked the sword? and of course Freedom just stood there in order for shin to impale it
Kira was distracted by the archangel, his priority is cagalli and the crews, couldn't focus on fighting shinn
