  • Here is a winding to thrust method from Liechtenauer's Zettel, we have recently started looking at fifteenth century manuscripts to widen our knowledge and skills.
As we mainly study meyers sixteenth century methods it was a nice change for us, adapteding to the foot work and body alignment has been tricky but we like the challenge.

This was such an informative presentation of this technique! I really appreciated all of the angles and how many reps you did on film. Thank you, and I can't wait to practice this in a fight!

@@lschizzle Thank you so much, so I'm all about practice practice practice. We tend to put loads of reps in class to get the movement's down, then in the last half of class kit up and really put it to practice with full stimulus. really glad this was helpful to you!! 🤺

I was afraid for the student's eyes throughout the entire video😂
Don't forget about safety precautions, friends.

@@Le_Rappel_des_oiseaux we train with and without protection on. Training without is perfectly fine when you have control and are putting in the correct stimulus for that kind of training. But if you are not confident in your skills yet there's no harm in wearing your mask friend, safety is key and we don't want to kill our training partners 😅

@@Reddragonlongswordacademy Sorry, but I categorically disagree. None of us can be sure what might happen. That's why safety precautions exist. It's easy to put on a mask - but you can't grow a new eye, for example.

@@Le_Rappel_des_oiseaux Have you tried this technique? Are you aware the point of my blade is actually not near his face and is in fact out to his left shoulder making poking him in the eye impossible from that position. Working to stimulus should mean any movements from the person performing the method / techniques are only a result from the other who is blocking it. As for knowing what will happen I agree that's why you wear protection when it is needed IE if you are now using full contact sparring stimulus. But you should be training to be confident in your own ability to move out of the way fall short and indeed just stop so we don't harm each other when in a learning environment. Practice practice practice is key don't try it if you aren't confident, a mask can help so much but if you aren't confident then just wearing a mask will not solve that. At the end of the day you control the blade and should always demonstrate restraint and marshal skills without or with protection on, that is a skill itself. I'm not sure we will agree here. but I have full confidence in myself and my students. hope this helps you.

@@Reddragonlongswordacademy I'm not talking about a specific technique, but about the overall approach to training. In our club we wear masks when demonstrating techniques, and even so we still sign a consent form regarding possible injuries during training.

@@Le_Rappel_des_oiseaux that's great friend we as a club have insurance as well. If you like id happily put together a video on restraint and marshal skills,it might take me a few months to put together work and club commitments. But definitely a great topic for a video.
