People in comment section seem brutual like calm down yes this is a remake and not all remakes are bad, the one done with good intention always is a legit great film. Acknowledge that its remake don't play blame game and say one is better than the other. Mamooty did phenomenal job and so has irrfhan khan who is the main reason i prefer them reacting to billu than original version. Also considering the stark contrast btw srk and irrfhan which makes it even more fun. Again original is an amazing film too with great perfomance and i dont mind them wacthing it even if not react or rather even review it but for now let them go for billu!!

If you remake a movie (from any industry) at least tell the audience before starting the movie. 90% of the audience are unaware that these movies make them fool and the production company makes money from their foolishness. And also small film industries like Malayalam, Odisha, Bengali (in past Bengali and maratha Films are the most realistic and prominent in India) and north eastern states films didn't get enough recognition. But fortunately Online platforms are providing an opportunity. But still those film creators and actors/ actress didn't get any national level participation 😔.
That's why I always promote the original version of movies from any region and any language. I understand Hindi, Tamil, kannada, Punjabi and Telugu along with English and Malayalam (mother tongue). But I try watching movies with the original version and subtitles.

Tbh i think its good if a director goes to do a film with good intention and improvises on original film and not just copies every bit of it. But i totally agree and people need to appreciate the roots and also good content across the states.

Should have started with the Original Malayalam movie of this, which was "Katha Parayumpol"( When the story is told) 2007. That is more grounded than this over the top referral which was directed by Priyadarshan(another veteran Malayalam movie director but had been remaking his own movies from Malayalam to Hindi) but this was not his original script. But he gave his own version of twists and drama!

Should have watched the original Katha Parayumbol in Malayalam starring Mammootty and Sreenivasan the later who is also the script writer of the film. Just like Drishyam original is far more better than Hindi remake.

You mean more remake movies 😂😂😂... Today almost 90%of good movies in Bollywood are remakes of South Indian movies. The other 10% of good movies are not valued and can't get an audience because of people like you...

Bollywood has given us numerous original blockbusters, so many that it's hard to even count. I didn't come here to say Bollywood movies are good or south Indian movies are bad. Guys just a suggestion, please try to watch the original versions before seeing the remake. The original version Katha parayumbol is such a good Malayalam movie and you will get introduced to a lot of legends in Malayalam cinema. Even though you guys have seen many malayalm movies, you have not yet seen some of the best actors especially the veterans. So please see the original version.

I have watched both irfan did a good job.. But SRK did over acting compared to orginal.

But mammootty give the exact emotion of a man who misses his friend.
M. Mohanan is the director of the original. Priyadarshan just took it and remade it in Hindi, like he does with every other Malayalam film.

This movie was remade to many languages but not a single one of the superstars in the remake can hold a candle infront of Mammootty. The climax performance by him was one of the main reason why the movie performed well. You can really see how good Mammootty is compared to SRK n Rajini
There's a Hindi movie where two thieves try to escape by catching a running train. One gets on, he's the one with the loot, the other one is left behind and caught and put into prison. He gets out after many years, is poor, visits his friend who has a big house and rich. But he welcomes his friend and accepts the cornflour sweet he brings (Sudhama ki sattu).
This reminds me of this story.

The original is in Malayalam and I found that to be much better. It's called Kathaparayumbol. However, kudos to this one too, one of the better-made remakes. I'd just expect that you at least mention that this is a remake from a smaller industry. Cheers.
