Hi, you make good videos. That spoon is modern and has a black "paint" in the crevices to emulate the natural patina of hand polishing. Both the real and painted patinas emphasize the design. If you do this with old silver, where the dark patina left in the crevices is made of the same oxidized silver as the tarnish you want to get rid of, it will remove that too. This is not desired in most cases. I have several pairs of earrings with the black paint. I use toothpaste to polish them because I'm not sure I want the traditional silver polish residue in my ears. Toothpaste is what my late Uncle used on his coin collection.
