I’ve used my shelta hat ($70), for two years, pouring stamped concrete every day and filled with powder every day. I love it.

I really like the Fishpond hat. 70 bucks, it's worth it to protect yourself. Looks like it's well made.

I appreciate this review and you sharing the video.
In Arizona a hat is a must 9 months out of the year and a beanie the other 3 months when fishing or doing yard work.
My mother battled basal cell on her nose that left her face deformed for 2 years. My wife is currently undergoing treatment to keep melanoma from returning.
It’s important for you all to protect yourself as much as you can.

Mr Bass, that wide brim is SO important! My brother has red hair and is very fair skinned. I have been taking him to the doctor to have skin cancer cut off. People need to take sun protection seriously!!
The hat may be goofy looking but, $70 is cheap compared to Dr appointments and walking out of the Dr office with bandages where you have been carved on.

    108. Sounds like Texas Summer. We are soft compared to our Gpas . Most of us on the south wear straw type hats or summer ball caps.

Pith helmet, I used to have one that dated from 50s, wore it, lost it, in the 70s. I believe it was from the Philippines?
The old ones were always organic materials like woven, rattan, bottle gourd, some tree by-products as I recall was used.
The thing with them is it had a total suspension system inside like the old World War II inner helmets, which was 2 parts, the steel outer helmet snapped over the light weight inner helmet.
Some older pith helmets could be dunked in water, for evaporation.
    But I digress.
The suspension system you called a head band, kept the pith helmet totally off your head, the hat floating over your head, it allowed air to flow around the sides, up over your head.
It's much cooler than any trucker like fishing hat.
I believe postman can purchase pith helmets still through a work uniform catalog, but they are plastic and probably hotter?
You need this. KAVU Chillba Hat Review

Basically an Asian coolie hat, modern foam like material, has an external head suspension uunderneath that keeps the hat off the top of your head, it helps keep your head cool.
Nice thing about the Kavu it can get totally wet. straw can swell with water ruining an expensive straw hats rated by finest.
My problems living on the east coast is beach wind, I don't know why you always seem to have a headwind.
I have a knock off Chinese people's hat, soft brim like a train engineer cap.
