It could be that his dad was supposed to say that his strength had increased 648% from the last time it was measured and was expected to increase to 885%. But someone screwed up somewhere, and it was written the way it was. I mean, after seeing your comment yesterday, I checked the wiki yesterday to see what his strength is supposed to be. @@Alabenson Constantly being next to Youngblood's standard levels of dross can play such tricks on your mind that I'm genuinely not sure. I just caught myself thinking that the artwork in his story was great only to realise that the third nice thing I could think of to say about was that it was on-model - the first two being that it was quite expressive in a nicely stylised way and that it's decently dynamic in some panels (admittedly a minor point given the lack of action) - so my standards for "greatness" seem to have slipped a little. Writing-wise, I'd say he's uneven. The core of the character is genuinely strong, I think, and it _sometimes_ shines through but this issue is a great example of the writers not seeming to be able to shake the grand Image Comics tradition of being aimlessly verbose even in dialogue for characters who aren't served at all by that writing style. Everyone goes through phases of sounding like... well, me - and that's barely a good thing when you're _not_ supposed to be an easily-bored child (or at least someone with a generally childlike outlook).

That Youngblood relaunch was genuinely good, which makes it kind of a shame that it was cut short due to rights stuff and Marvel poaching the writer/artist.
That cover makes me want to poke Badrock with a needle to see if he pops like a balloon. I will say that his story was the better of the two and if he wasn't attached to Youngblood it might even have been interesting as you see a mostly positive character deal with how other people treat his otherness without a support system as well as seeing how his fathers attempts to capture him affects the twos relationship. Sadly that never happened. Combat's story on the other hand gives me no reason to like him due to two reasons. His culture only gets basic warrior stuff and we don't really get a sense on how he feels about his peoples philosophy just regurgitation. The only thing that feels like a character trait that is his is the burning which does not make me like him as a character. The fight at the end feels hollow because we don't get enough information to care about the fighters or why they are fighting. The ending which I think is supposed to show how the guy is rethinking the lessons he has been taught but because the lesson is so basic it doesn't land and is uninteresting. Having the guy be forced to work with his enemy and give more of an insight on his opinions on his peoples culture and relationship with other races would have worked better and shown why he is willing to work with humans on Youngblood. Instead of having him imply that he is starting to think his peoples culture is wrong have him say that he still has much to learn or something.

Youngblood: in media res the series. The absolute worst thing? There's actually half decent ideas sprinkled throughout the series. The execution is horrible and the art is worse. But there are some, some, ideas that are decent under all the crap. Badrock for instance.
5:10 "DNA Triangulation Link Shifting" Triangulation is the process of determining the location of a point by forming triangles to the point from known points. Therefore, I must conclude that this experiment is to determine the location of his DNA.
Honestly the badrock half really does show the potential his character could've had, as it actually showed some decent personality both in his thoughts but also the art. I was actually kinda digging it, shame it's just a small bit especially considering the rest of Youngblood really weighing it down.
Looks like the Combat story was meant to be a tie-in to Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.s: the Orb is the McGuffin of the first storyarc and the monster at the end looks like a Daemonite, an alien race that are the main antagonists.
Honestly, Badrock is the only Young Blood character who deserves a stand-alone modern reboot. He's Rob Leifeld's one and only...well not golden egg but maybe silver egg? Regardless he's the only character worth exploring more and I kinda hope that happens at some point. Give him his own solo rebooted origin story and then have him joining a new, much more interesting team of heroes. Like an Image equivalent of the Teen Titans or something.
@@AT4W well since it's April fools next week maybe u can get away w/ a parallel universe reviewing it so u still don't have to. Like parallel Don or Viga XD
20:20 and yet, I’m taking Xeriouxly Forxe more seriously than Youngblood…side note: “Xeriously Forxe” is still a better name for a hero group than “Ravagers”
Man, there's ALMOST something intriguing here, almost something in Badrock's story you can mine something neat from, but it's over before it even starts and then it's back to people making big muscley dudes in dull poses and exposition they think sounds way more profound than it is. Close, yet still so far...
Two thoughts: 1: Why did they decide to make Combat an animal torturer!? That's all he'll ever be now! 2: Combat has skills other than fighting? Youngblood members seem to have zero skills outside of fighting! No guile, no investigation, extremely little science.
90s Dude is totally one of those guys who has tried to sell his collection of his extra bagged & boarded copies of Youngblood comics on eBay with a $500 starting bid multiple times.
So Rob made one of his characters a sadistic a hole who wants more power. Oh, I'm sorry, ANOTHER of his characters. But this one yeeted animate things into the fireplace as a child, so that's different from making a deal with the devil. I could count the not iron man, but I don't know if that kind of tendency was present before or after Moore was allowed to run with his idea for using the so called "awesomeverse" characters.
As bad a Youngblood was, I can’t help but see its potential. There are so many ideas that almost work but fall flat due to the writing/art or unnecessary edge. I bet it could thrive with a complete modern reboot, but I think it would have to be taken out of Liefelds hands to succeed.
Yea Badrock is really a better idea then the Thing and is the better character out of Youngblood, What is funny is later on Task is still around in future Youngblood stories, the good thing is they get better later on, much better. Then bad for a minute again then better LOL Over all, the idea of Youngblood is not horrible a better writer could of made this worked. Just sad the characters are so generic, later on in future books the characters get better some are still bad tho. It has possibilities just not the way they have it and the schedule they have LOL
Tbh, i wouldn't be against changing to a tagline about the good and bad comics, i think enjoying the good things shines that much more of a light on why bad things are bad, to put it grossly simply, lol
Badrock looks like the fictional Winter olympics Fatov from that Simpsons episode became a part of Olympic team to play curling in the Canadian Winter games.
Gotta love 90s Dude for keeping the love for everything 90s still feel alive after all this time. I mean I hate Youngblood, but I do kinda like the mere detail of its existence being a reminder of the kind of comic media the 90s had. Nostalgia you know?
10:06 if I had a nickel for every time Rob Liefeld introduced a new character, then later revealed that character to be a copy and reintroduced the real version of them, I'd have... well, at LEAST two nickels, I can't guarantee he didn't do it again
Oh cool, it's Overwatch 2.... no wait, this is rob liefeld. You know, it gets difficult to tell these days which takes themselves too serious when there's generious amount of Aim Assist, Super Powers and silly costumes. Good video!
Hate to be an Actually Lee, but Inuyasha isn't a mid 90's anime, it's an early 2000's through mid 2000's anime (with Final Act being later 2010's) so not one Badrock would be interested in.... the rest though is accurate. I mean at least Badrock I can picture wanting to know more on what happens to him and like his set up but even minus the whole clone nonsense and obnoxious warrior's schitck (I mean at least the Ultimate Warrior's ramblings were insanely hilarious not boring) once Combat talked about hucking animals into fires to watch them burn because he didn't.... why in the hell would you want to follow or know any more of him? Heck expected 90's dude to pop up and go "Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the 90's was all about lighting pets on fire it was the EXTREME way to play" or something like that but yeah Combat's just a drag hope we aren't getting anymore of him. Also can't wait to see what "lamp" you cover next week.
Speaking of comic covers, the first comic I bought for myself was Grizzly Shark #1. A guy missing his lower body being carried by on other guy on his back, are being attacked by a shark jumping out of a tree. I HAD to know what stupid story lied within.
At least it isn't advocating a dangerous conspiracy theory which is going to hurt people and if that's the high ground for your comic you have made something with really low quality - great video.
Maybe your good stuff should be done on a separate channel 90s Kid should use more 90s slang like wicked, rad, tight, and righteous Thank you for your acknowledgement of Homestar Runner
...Early-2000s, actually, since it started in 2000. My bad - I ended up seeing the manga's start date instead of the anime when I was looking up to confirm.
Okay, the “not discussing the cover when reading from a trade” thing has come up in the last couple episodes, so while it’s relevant, I’ve always wondered: even if you’re mostly reading a trade for the review, why not find what the original cover was online? A vast majority of comic covers are archived online, so it’s not like there’s no way of accessing them. Obviously that wouldn’t work for the huge retrospective videos due to runtime, but for shorter episodes, is there a reason you avoid finding scans of the original covers? Not trying to demand you do that or anything, by the way, just curious.
Because the cover is irrelevant when I'm reading from a trade. It's sometimes the case I'm not reviewing it as it was when it came out, but the end product that's in my hands. And if it's from a trade, then the cover of an individual issue doesn't matter.

Always glad to see Linkara rip into a comic again!
A new AT4W. The perfect thing to help me go to sleep.
Everyones a critic!
JK, night night
Just when I was about to get to bed on time for once, you *had* to post this. Darn you, Linkara, for making me slightly sleepy at work tomorrow!
Waiting for the day that Linkara reviews the Youngblood issue with the first appearance of the Totally Not Batman.
Gunsmith Cats? Okay, Badrock's got good taste.
Honestly, the Badrock story is pretty good. The artwork's better than usual, and the story is compelling.
Seems kinda semantic having marvel vs DC on the never review list when we've seen other marvel vs DC crossovers reviewed before.
It was a list made almost 15 years ago when the idea of doing good comics at all seemed unlikely or rare.
@@AT4W well since it's April fools next week maybe u can get away w/ a parallel universe reviewing it so u still don't have to. Like parallel Don or Viga XD
I was just thinking about Ranma 1/2 lol.
20:20 and yet, I’m taking Xeriouxly Forxe more seriously than Youngblood…side note: “Xeriously Forxe” is still a better name for a hero group than “Ravagers”
Can I be honest? This cover's so generic and bland I thought "Why's Linkara reviewing the same comic twice?"
Man, there's ALMOST something intriguing here, almost something in Badrock's story you can mine something neat from, but it's over before it even starts and then it's back to people making big muscley dudes in dull poses and exposition they think sounds way more profound than it is. Close, yet still so far...
Two thoughts:
1: Why did they decide to make Combat an animal torturer!? That's all he'll ever be now!
2: Combat has skills other than fighting? Youngblood members seem to have zero skills outside of fighting! No guile, no investigation, extremely little science.
90s Dude is totally one of those guys who has tried to sell his collection of his extra bagged & boarded copies of Youngblood comics on eBay with a $500 starting bid multiple times.
12:01 "oponent" Klingon wannabe is learning to spell like them. Needs more commas breaking it up though.
Combat's "wisdom" is worthy of a manosphere blog.
Then bad for a minute again then better LOL
Over all, the idea of Youngblood is not horrible a better writer could of made this worked.
I really hope you manage to make that lamp review, last time it got interrupted by Phelous and an horror anthology movie
What a great way to start the week! I love time zone and finding Linkara in my feed as I wake up!
Badrock looks like a jacked Homestar Runner on the cover of this comic.
The continuing saga of the comic series that introduced the dreaded Young Blood Disease. This is going to be fun, I’m sure. 😂
Badrock looks like the fictional Winter olympics Fatov from that Simpsons episode became a part of Olympic team to play curling in the Canadian Winter games.
I'm a cultured individual. Therefore, I ALWAYS look forward to Linkara reviewing lamps.
Linkara figure with cat petting action available when?
Cool ship... Cool cat!!!
Gotta love 90s Dude for keeping the love for everything 90s still feel alive after all this time.
I mean I hate Youngblood, but I do kinda like the mere detail of its existence being a reminder of the kind of comic media the 90s had. Nostalgia you know?
You know a year isn't official until we get Linkara reviewing a Youngblood comic
Finally, a bad comic!! I thought this channel was about burning them, been forever!!! *STOP ASKING FOR HAPPY SHIT LOL!!!*
Good video!
I really wanna read Moore’s Supreme run.
>space pyramid; absolutely *no* reference to linkara’s archnemesis:
*ANCIENT EGYPT*
_excerpt of the emperial march here_
Considered it, even thought "Ugh, bringing Star Wars close to Youngblood feels wrong. Do it again, but played on kazoos" but just didn't feel right.
Yeah, I screwed up and looked at the start date for the manga instead of the anime by accident.
since when do you do short videos on 1 single comic :P
Evil Dead skeletons? Feh... Combat and the Argonauts.
But Rob Liefeld wouldn't have hired Ray Harryhausen.
@@RichardWatt No... he would try. Unlike Alan Moore, Harryhausen had integrity.
Ooh marvel vs dc sign me up 😊
Always a fun time when 90s Dude makes an appearance
Nah, his shtick wore thin long ago.
@@ghidorah15 eh, we all have our opinions

Speaking of comic covers, the first comic I bought for myself was Grizzly Shark #1. A guy missing his lower body being carried by on other guy on his back, are being attacked by a shark jumping out of a tree.
I HAD to know what stupid story lied within.
Is it bad that despite being a 2000’s kid, I was kind of like 90’s kid?
I mean that’s me in a nutshell too: ‘98 kid but grew up in the noughties with most things I watched having some connection to the 90’s🤷♀️😎
At least it isn't advocating a dangerous conspiracy theory which is going to hurt people and if that's the high ground for your comic you have made something with really low quality - great video.
Maybe your good stuff should be done on a separate channel
90s Kid should use more 90s slang like wicked, rad, tight, and righteous
Thank you for your acknowledgement of Homestar Runner
"Sewing machine!" 😎
@@RokuroCarisueh! Seeing machine is WICKED
I love this series, Mortal Kombat II is indeed a classic...
"Hello and welcome to Atop the Fourth Wall, where Rob Liefeld can't draw anything. At all...

WHY DOES HE STILL GET WORK?!"
7:27 Oh, Lewis. Inuyasha is mid 2000's anime. 😂
...Early-2000s, actually, since it started in 2000.
@@AT4W Ah, I get it now! Been watching the show for years, but somehow the way you phrased the explanation just there helped it finally click for me. Thank you for clarifying.
