@5:08 Hmm, let’s talk about Tim Tebow, Brady Quinn, and let’s not forget my guy, Christian Hackenberg, a6'4", 230 lbs, out of Penn State (We Are Penn State!!) There are plenty more examples where this comes from. As Shannon Sharpe wisely put it, "There’s something worth more than Gold and Bitcoin, and that’s race." The NFL is a business, and businesses grow and evolve, but they’re often held back by outdated traditions and customs. Ryan’s take here? Eh, not a great one. Love the guy’s perspective, but this one feels like a reach. And let’s not even get started on Donovan McNabb and Kordell Stewart, two more black QB examples that were left out.
Every single person you just named all got the chance and THEY played poorly which got them those results. You're missing the whole point because you don't care for the point. There is a specific criteria of person he's talking about and a specific audience that can relate. Everything isn't surface level
Tebow was asked to switch after he showed he couldn't perform well as an NFL qb. Brady Quinn was never asked to switch positions, he was touted as the future face of a franchise. Hackenberg didn't play a single down of professional football.
@@Maydefb43 Taysom had two semi-good seasons in college, he wasn't NFL ready at all as a qb. Flutie was asked due to his size, which is pretty reasonable.
He probably does but they're terrible examples for this argument. Crouch had 1500 yards, 7 tds, and 10 ints his Heisman year. He got most of his success on the ground and was a terrible qb. Lamar is the exact opposite of that. Matt Jones was just mid af, nowhere near NFL ready like Lamar was coming out of college.
I agree with R.C. the only correction I have for you is QB Eric Crouch coming out of Nebraska was drafted by the Rams as a WR. Outside of that I'm with you 100%
Crouch threw for 1500 yards, 7 tds, and 10 ints his senior year, the year he won the Heisman. He was a trash qb, that's why they asked him to change positions. Lamar had 3500 yards, 30 tds, and 9 ints. This is a terrible comparison.
@ talkn bout missing the point..and speaking of trash ur attentiveness is trash..no one said he was the next great yt hype…u bringing up a totally different point..if anything ur point helps ours 🤣 and i like how ur leaving out y he won the heisman..he was a running qb
@@durellscott9411 Yes, he was a running qb, toted it like a mfer, but that's it. He wasn't a good passer, hence his stats. I agree that no one said any of these guys would be the "next great yt hype", cause I never said it and I don't see that on any other comment. The point is, that Lamar was asked to change positions, just like these two guys, but Lamar was actually a good qb, passing and running. Putting it into perspective, Lamar had more rushing yards his Heisman year than Crouch had in passing yards in his Heisman year. Lamar has more passing tds in his Heisman year than Crouch has in all 4 of his collegiate years combined. Lamar has more passing tds in his Heisman year than Crouch had in total tds in his Heisman year. Lamar had more passing yards in his Heisman year than Crouch had in total yards in his Heisman year. If that helps your argument, then I'm sorry you joined the conversation lol. If there was any qb that was as good as Lamar being asked to switch positions, that would help your argument. But the guys being listed either lacked the ability, lacked the size, or lacked the success that Lamar had in college.
Spot on? Who are all the black QBs who were asked to change position in the NFL? Because I don't remember that happening. Seems to me that Lamar being asked to change is not the rule but the exception. Ryan Clark and Stephen Smith think this is 1980. Times have changed. Mahomes does squash his point. The reason why Lamar Jackson was questioned was not because he was black, it is because he’s athletic. Eric Crouch? Tim Tebow? Johnny Manziel? Julian Edelman? Doug Flutie? Drew Brees? Taysom Hill? Some black folks are so in their feelings, damn. Being offended that SOME black quarterbacks are athletic enough to be suggested another position in the NFL? Wow. One must have an exceptionally easy life to get emotional and upset by such a position of marketability.
I was like Tim Tebow 🤦🏿♂️
You're talking about a few exceptions not the rule
Those guys have gotten no where near the scrutiny that qb’s like Lamar has gotten
They have gotten more
Nobody asked REPEATEDLY to Tim Tebow OR Johnny Manziel when coming out of college to change their position. It is ridiculous seeing so many fans…that know football being so daft when it comes to this subject. The unfair lamar scrutiny (coming out of college) was REAL and now he is proving everyone wrong rightfully so. Plus fans still call him “RB” WHEN has that ever happened 😂😂😂. Come on man 😭😭😭😭😭

denigrating any person or peoples. He was merely spitting facts!
Matt Jones - ARKANSAS QB drafted as a WR by Jacksonville!
Matt Jones switched to wr while still in college. He wasn’t asked to switch at the NFL level.
@@deanthonymoon5763 Matt Jones was QB in college he never played WR in college, this narrative is stupid. Julian Edelman was QB too. This woke mess is getting out of hand.
They wanted tebow to be a TE, cmon Stephen A
@@deanthonymoon5763how many receiving yards did he have at Arkansas?
Matt Jones was a mid qb while in college, not a good comparison at all.
Mahomes isn't full black. He is literally mixed. If a pit bull mates with a German Sheppard is the offspring 100% pit bull? No it's not. Aint nothing wrong with being mixed I'm just saying we gotta call it like it is.

Tim Tebow, Johnny Menzel, Ryan Tannhall, Julian Edelman… Yall said they couldn’t play and was told to switch positions
Timmy Tebow was trash.
They gave every last one of those guys every opportunity to play and succeed. Except Edelman, and if he would have been taller they would have gave him too
None of those guys were asked to switch positions
Are you saying that Lamar hasn’t been given every opportunity to succeed? I mean, literally the ravens changed the whole offense to accommodate him when they drafted him…
@@kashanti1 I'm saying when they were drafted they didn't have people telling them on their draft day that they should play other positions
Point made
Every single person you just named all got the chance and THEY played poorly which got them those results. You're missing the whole point because you don't care for the point. There is a specific criteria of person he's talking about and a specific audience that can relate. Everything isn't surface level
Taysom hill, Doug flutie, etc
Tebow was asked to switch after he showed he couldn't perform well as an NFL qb. Brady Quinn was never asked to switch positions, he was touted as the future face of a franchise. Hackenberg didn't play a single down of professional football.
@@Maydefb43 Taysom had two semi-good seasons in college, he wasn't NFL ready at all as a qb. Flutie was asked due to his size, which is pretty reasonable.
So Stephen A. Doesn't remember Eric Crouch and Matt Jones??
He probably does but they're terrible examples for this argument. Crouch had 1500 yards, 7 tds, and 10 ints his Heisman year. He got most of his success on the ground and was a terrible qb. Lamar is the exact opposite of that. Matt Jones was just mid af, nowhere near NFL ready like Lamar was coming out of college.
It started with Warren moon!!!!
I agree with R.C. the only correction I have for you is QB Eric Crouch coming out of Nebraska was drafted by the Rams as a WR. Outside of that I'm with you 100%
Thank u i just wrote that
How did you forget Julian Edelman
Lamar made them think long and hard about that NFL Wonderlic Test! Look around the league and QB position.
Skip Bayless gave Steven A. Smith selective amnesia on Tim Tebow
I think Ryan Clark is a complete fool for forgetting the greatest black quarterback that ever lived and he goes by the name of Warren Moon. LOL
Scott Frost form Nebraska had to switch to safety to get drafted. But Stephen A's point is still spot on.
Spot on? Who are all the black QBs who were asked to change position in the NFL? Because I don't remember that happening. I dont remember Vince Young, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels, RG3, Michael Vick, Kyler Murray, CJ Stroud, Dante Culppeper, Geno Smith, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Deshaun Watson, Kordell Stewart, Terry Bridgewater, Russel Wilson, Tyron Taylor, or Cam Newton being asked to change positions. Seems to me that Lamar being asked to change is not the rule but the exception. Ryan Clark and Stephen Smith think this is 1980. Times have changed. No one is talking about Shadeuer Sanders or Cam Ward changing their positions either. Terrible take. Not even close to spot on.
Scott Frost senior year: 1200 yards, 5 tds, 4 ints in the 12 games he played. Would you want him as the face of your franchise?
@@theyoung_ag There were tons for deacades. RG3, Mike Vick, SteveMcNair, Kordell Stewart, and Lamar were all pressured to change positions. To go to the next level.

NFL would hate if Lamar got
3 MVPs...let's be honest
The league loves Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. Lamar Jackson don’t get the same love from NFL. So this is what leads to topics like this.
@@stevenfrancis2278 he obviously gets more than Allen. Allen stats were better last year and people pointed to record and go offended a person voted for Allen. Now the case is reversed and it’s debatable 😂 and what’s even funnier is that when the ravens lose they blame Henry not getting more carries. So how can it be debatable when it’s debatable if he is even the most important player on his team in their own words.
Why would the NFL care?
He's gonna get it.
@stevenfrancis2278
Lamar has 2 MVPs, whereas Burrow and Allen have 0 combined. Lamar is the only unanimous MVP besides Brady. Burrow and Allen have better playoff records. Lamar is the only 2 MVP to never play in a Super Bowl. Yet Lamar gets disrespected? Victimhood will never progress to victor. Be careful what you worship
Don’t worry Ryan, Jalen will bring it home..! 🦅
SAS and SC aren't saying this correctly: This isn't about Black QBs. This is anout MOBILE QBs with the speed of a WR/CB and the agility of a Running Back (Cunningham, Vick, Newton etc.). If it was just Black QB it wouldn't make sense since Russel Wilson & Patrick Mahomes exist.
Who just so happen to be black for the most part… I agree with you tho
not just RW & PM. This also didnt happen to Vince Young, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels, RG3, Michael Vick, Kyler Murray, CJ Stroud, Dante Culppeper, Geno Smith, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Deshaun Watson, Kordell Stewart, Terry Bridgewater, Russel Wilson, Tyron Taylor, or Cam Newton. Was Tim Tebow not questioned? Or asked to play a different position?
Ryan Clark’s statement was Awesome! He articulated the plight of the Black Quarterback throughout history.
Really? Pat Mahomes 3 time SB champion Russel Wilson SB champion…5 of the top 10 highest paid at the position being black…in the past 10 years of the nfl 4 of them has had a black QB win the award…so what exactly is Lamar going to prove that hasn’t already been proven twice over?
I like this, thoughtful, direct and honest, Steven Smith so much better than the "character" on ESPN.
SAS has gotten smarter but still has a lot to learn.
TIM TEBOW? He wasn't questioned about the ability to transform from a college QB to an NFL QB?
He was they said he couldn't throw from pocket and were right just like Richardson hes a bust
That's a different question than asking someone to play a position they never played while in college. And they were right to question Tebow based on his results.
It's like 15 black qbs starting in the league why is this still a topic to discuss lol
Because you STILL want Josh Allen to be awarded MVP while Lemar is dominating the position a heck of a lot MORE.

Yes Stephen A! Say it! That’s what’s up! You’re 100% right! 👌🏾
Ryan Clark is 100% right. Black QB's have always been superior, so they make QB stats to cater to the Caucasian QB 🤷🏻♀️

He was talking about FBA,s Q.B. not mixed race Q.B.s
I would pay money to see y’all tell Kap that he ain’t invited 😂😂😂Priceless!!
What I think Ryan Clark meant was RNs Stephen A. But he just couldn’t say it Mahomes is mixed, Wilson is mixed that’s why when he referred to a QB hoisting the trophy he said Doug Williams
Russell Wilson isn't mixed
Out of 48 players on the roster, how many are quarterbacks? How many quarterbacks are on the field at any given time? I’m not trying to rule out discrimination, but there is a lot more going on than that. Are there coaches out there who have really tough decisions? Yes. The only color most people are concerned with is their favorite team’s jersey. As it should be.
Mahomes does squash his point. The reason why Lamar Jackson was questioned was not because he was black, it is because he’s athletic. I know two college quarterbacks that changed to tight end and had pretty good careers, Travis, Kelce, and Blake Bell. And then in the modern era Julian Edelman and Taysom Hill. This is a joke.
He didn't mention Patrick because he is half black. He said "BLACK QB's"
What about the "one drop" rule...or does that only apply to receivers? 😅

Patrick Mahomes and Colin Kaepernick are both black quaterbacks that played in Superbowls, but were ignored by Ryan Clarke in his comments . Willy Lynch syndrome is alive and well with Clarke.

The game is also rigged.
The intellect being questioned for black qbs still goes on, "they run if their first read isnt open". Alwys saying simple sht like that.
They say Jalen Hurts cant read a defense, meanwhile he's got a passer rating of like 117.00 against the blitz.
There were 16 Black QBs that started this year thats 1/2 the NFL IN 3 YEARS Most of the QBs will be Black
They never should’ve gave Joe Burrow and Josh Allen multiyear deals

Who is critical of lamar? Its only black commentators that who.
Tim Tebow, people wanted him to play TE, because he played like a black qb and he got all the questions black qbs got. “He couldn’t handle a pro offensive playbook”
The chick in the background, "Yes! Hallelujah!" Sounds like a revival meeting.
Patrick Mahomes is not blk. Being blk is more than a color. Being blk is a cultural construct, a culture that Mahomes does not align himself with nor does he have to.He is bi-racial and he is not a representation of the majority of blk culture .aside from all of that he is a great quarterback and he appears to be an outstanding person 💯
