I'm so glad you made this video. I was looking to dye my daughters all cotton comforter a nice dusty pink. I already had the camel. I'm going to put it in the washing machine. For comforters its a whole bottle in the washing machine on medium water level. So I'll try a whole bottle of petal pink with a half or a little less than half a bottle of the camel. I'm trying to make the 3rd color you did.
This is really amazing and creative job. Clearly mixing pink with Camel gives some beautiful color. How to achieve Azalea pink color. I love this color. I need to color some shirts for my personal use. Well one.
Thank you so much for doing this. I really love the blush one that is super light. I’m looking to dye a white bridesmaid dress blush. Do you remember the ratio you used to get blush? Did you put it in the washing machine to do it or did it stay in the dye a certain amount of time before being desperately washed? Thank you!!
Thank you for your interest Bethany. I did not wash them after dying, but I did rinse them. I don’t really remember the ratios; i think I mentioned them in the video. I left them in about 5 minutes. Cotton absorbs the dye pretty instantly. Good luck with your dress!
Is there a time on how long you let the dye set? Did you do it on the stove? Or did you just experiment. I love all the shades! so pretty! I am going to try these 2 together. Thank you!
You are very brave. I am a bit scared of dyeing lace. Just using the colour mixture you decided on, resulted in so many different shades. Have you a project in mind for the dusty pink lace? Tfs
Either very brave or very stupid! hahaha I have always been one to jump in first and then say "how deep is this?" I had a lot of fun though, and, just as you, was surprised at the different shades. It showed me that I don't know my laces yet! But I will, Edwina, I'm determined! As for a project? I've been toying with jumping on the Gypsy wagon. :) also, I have redone my bedroom in wine and mauve colors, and would like to make a larger wall hanging to put up on one of the walls. So there's that. Otherwise, it's rather nice to have a stash of lace, don't you think? YES! Blessings & Hugs, my friend! Lisa xx
I like the color you settled with on your doily, that really does look good...So I wonder since your doilies are white, what do you think would happen to the more tanner or cream colored ones? Im curious think they would come out a yucky blah blah brown or something. Now I have to experiment on that. Well if you do or did try let me know.
Thank you, Victoria, I like it as well. I am not sure what would happen, either. I did put a darker cream colored cotton trim in the batch, and it came out a peach color! I will probably cut some 2" or so samples of different tea dyed laces and see what happens. Let me know what you get from your experiment! Better yet, do a video of it!
Thank you, Liz, for your feedback, and for sharing the video on your site. I really appreciate it! Today I tried another, very small batch, using the same method, but trying 1 T Petal Pink to 1 tsp Camel, and I really liked the result! I never realized mauve is so brownish! lol Well, live and learn, as the saying goes... Blessings & Hugs! Lisa xx Oh, and PS! are you signing up for the gift bag challenge in the 4Gs?
Hi! I know you posted this yonks ago but this is exactly what I’m trying to do for a wedding in a few months - I have a dress for my daughter and I’m really wanting to get it to the same colour as my dress (like your middle doily!) but the dress is polyester! Any advice??? I have a pic of the two diff dress colours but can’t figure out if I can or how to message you directly! TIA xx
Hello, and thank you for watching and commenting. So sorry for the delayed response. RIT makes dyes for synthetic materials now. I hope you have already discovered them! www.ritdye.com/type/dyemore-for-synthetics/ By the way...I'm not in any way associated with RIT; I simply like to dye stuff! LOL Blessings, Lisa
Thank you! I like the way they turned out as well. :) I got the doilies from eBay: www.ebay.com/sch/novygift/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I have not yet tried avocado dying. It is on my (very long) list of things to try! Have a wonderful day, and thank you for watching! Lisa
Sorry for the delayed response, Diana! Most of the ones that readily absorbed the dye (like cotton), I only dipped, swirled around a couple of times, and voila! The ones that did not accept the dye too well (polyesters), I left in for about 25 minutes, but the dye immediately rinsed out in the cool water rinse anyway. Thanks for the question, and for watching! Blessings & Hugs! Lisa xx
Hello, and thank you for watching my video and commenting! I used cotton and cotton poly blends. Polyester doesn't take these dyes, but RIT now has dyes for synthetics! Blessings! Lisa
I followed the recipes on ritstudio.com for the color(s) I wanted, then started to experiment. Definitely cotton works the best, or a cotton blend! Thank you again for taking the time to watch!
Hi Lisa I love your colors. The other day I was cleaning out my refrigerator the other day and found a bottle of cranberry juice tjat was hoding eay in the back( it had been on there a awhile) i was going to throw ot out and thought maybe it would work as dye. I put a doily in some and it came out a dusty rose. I put it back in to work on dying later. I just found you and look forward to playing catch up on all yoir videos. So far I have not neen disappointed.
Hi Ronda. I'm so glad you found my channel. :) Thank you for sharing about the cranberry juice - that's so cool! Please post a pic of your dyed lace/doily. Did the color stay after rinsing/washing? I'd be really interested in knowing! And I look forward to more of your comments on my videos. Blessings & Hugs!! Lisa
Hi Lisa, I only dyed some crocheted lace but it heled the color well. I only rinsed it. Did not wash with soap. I'm not sure if I can put a picture up cause I am very computer illiterate and will have to find someone to help me. I know it sounds really dumb. I am just barely able to do somethings on my phone.
I wish RIT would make videos like these, it really helped me decide.
I m glad I could be of some help. 😊👍
Thank you, Lisa!
I want to dye a white lace dress pink, but soft instead of a bright colour.
You did all the testing for me. Hello from Canada.
Jann, thank you for watching my video, and for your kind remark. Please let me know how the lace dress comes out! Blessings, Lisa

great job. I think you needed less pink or more water. also the intensity can change as the dye is used. I Need some camel.

Oh, and yes, I noticed that the intensity changed as the dye was used, and as the water cooled. thanks for the info to confirm my suspicions!
Make a little drawstring crochet bag from your dollies.. very boho 💕
Great idea. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I really appreciate it. Blessings & Hugs! Lisa
Thanks. Looking for the same color.
Thank you for your feedback. I hope you were able to get the color you wanted! ❤️

Hi no I had to buy these ones & will just have to try it out . Thanks
Love the color! Have you tried avocado dyeing? It can give a similar color. Also, did you get the doilies off Amazon?
Thank you! I like the way they turned out as well. :) I got the doilies from eBay: www.ebay.com/sch/novygift/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

How long did you leave pieces in the dye?

What kind of material was your lace fabrics?
Hello, and thank you for watching my video and commenting! I used cotton and cotton poly blends. Polyester doesn't take these dyes, but RIT now has dyes for synthetics! Blessings! Lisa
I don’t have much luck with that Rit dye.

Did you not add salt
Correct...I did NOT add salt. Thank you for watching, and for commenting! Blessings, Lisa
