Nice big white knee!. Had one at the pet store for 4 months and i finally bought it cause i now know you can hold them. I wasn't interested in a aggressive species. Nice handling! 👍👍
not all of them can be handled, it's just every now and then some are more docile than others, if you can handle your T then your lucky, i can handle mine fine, but i know a few that can't go near theirs, they are an aggressive species but still some can be docile :)
I have to say this is very rare to be able to handle a Genic. Mine is a nutter and everybody I know who has one is a nutter, their feeding response is insane. I wouldn’t even attempt to pick a genic up. My dads female has maxed out at 8” and she’s mental.
Is it true that the Mexican Red Knee tarantula is the most placid? Usually this species is the one that is handled at zoos and even given to children to hold.
I dont think so , after 3 molts the fang will be fully recovered. this is the second molt, now im waiting for a third in the near weeks :) - ua-cam.com/video/zD9cAHZkVuk/v-deo.html
+NaidensInsects Yeah, my Lp broke her fangs off a few years ago. both of them. Didn't eat for 5 months. Molted into a new set of fangs. That is just amazing!
Only gets serious when the T's too young. My Theraphosa didn't make it, because she was too young and couldn't withstand a long period without eating...
I was always so afraid to pick up my tarantula like that. They are so fragile that I was scared I would accidentally hurt him. I just let him walk on me. Thanks for showing this.
Wow, absolutely stunning specimen! I almost thought she was going to bite you because at 21 seconds in I could clearly see some fang but then I noticed something was off with that fang...then I read the comments and discovered it was a broken fang. Does she have any trouble eating with only one good fang? I am assuming not because she is of a very good weight and active! I was considering getting one of these lovely Acanthoscurria Geniculata to my small collection but...I'm kind of worried about getting an agressive one. In my small collection of Tarantulas I presently have: Avicularia Avicularia, Lasiodora Klugi, 2 Brachypelma Vagans (one male, one female), Brachypelma albopilosum In the next two days I'm getting the following slings for my collection: Brachypelma smithi, Grammostola Rosea, Brachypelma Albiceps, and Cyriocosmus elegans... I was considering getting an A.genic for my little family of T's when I get the other slings I just listed above but...I've been lucky and don't have any aggressive T's though I DO tend to choose more docile T's...as you'll see my collection is pretty good for the more docile ones. How bad is their urticating hairs in compirison to the T's of my collection? Way worse? Average? Is there any tips you might have for me with this type of T? Or one you would recommend more that is a large beauty, yet docile in nature that I don't already have? Due to my sister has kids and the fact we have dogs too( I live with her) (she has her own T's also but doesn't have this type or the same T's as me) we don't keep any well known aggressive T's or one's with the type of venom that can give you intense flu-like symptoms for days...so yeah...we stick to the more friendly stuff in-case one ever got out and a oh-too-curious-pet or child decided to try and play with the T....x.x (Though we have pretty sturdy escape proof-cages, but accidents can happen I suppose...) Annnnnd I'm rambling! Sorry I just love T's so much...But yes, please let me know your thoughts on this T, would you recommend it? Thanks so much for your time (and reading my mini-novel, hehe sorry!)
my first tarantula was an A. geniculata, they are usualy calm and docile when they are little, but now, mine is about 3 inches and is now a pretty aggressive eater, but still not aggressive TOWARDS me. if my tarantula thinks something is food, it will get aggressive tho. i have 5 tarantulas.
I'm normally freaked out but this is a totally awesome spider! A friend of mine had a blue cobalt that was SUPER aggressive! It attacked the glass anytime we walked by! Bloody hell the glass had teeth marks lmao!
My 3in female would never let me hold her. She's a monster and literally attacks anything in her cage lol. I've heard A. geniculata were somewhat docile, I guess I got one of the crazy ones lol
So i've heard a lot of negative things about handling these guys, but yours seems to be really docile. Was she always like that? If not, how do you get them to be more tolerant of handling?
Chances are... it tolerates being handled like that. No Tarantula adores being held. Sone are just mutual to it. If you do, you do. If you don’t, you don’t. They’re not really fussed. As the other comment quite rightly said, newer breeds are better adapted!
I have a juvenile white knee, can't wait to be able to handle her!!! Question: When is it safe to know you can handle your tarantula? is it better when she's an adult?
Between my husband and I we have 5 tarantula, and out of them there is one I feel comfortable picking up. He is a Chaco Golden Knee and he is extremely sweet. He has never shown any aggression. I wanna know if there are any tips on how to handle tarantulas this way? When it comes to bull (my golden knee) I put one hand down in front of him and the other using my finger touching his butt and when he ignores my hand I take that as a sign he doesn't wanna be handled. My husband does this but just makes me worried. I don't want my Golden or any other spider to feel trapped or like they are going to die accidentally holding to tightly) Don't really wanna get bitten but I also don't want him to feel trapped. So any tips would be appreciated, if of course it's something that can be explained
The giant white knee female is my ultimate favourite spider but is it really the most aggressive of all bŕazillìan spiders as thèý say about it,z,?????
Wow, first, that is a very pretty T! I just got a juvenile A. geniculata, I'm SO excited! I love their looks. BUT, wow, are you ever brave with the handling! Mine is very shy, and I have never handled any of my 11 T's. I don't really have much desire to. Well, good video! P.S. I just watched this again more closely, and noticed, the poor thing has only ONE fang! What happened? Can she still eat? Do yo hand/syringe feed her? How long has it been like this, and is it a result of a "bad molt"?
I'm quite sure it feels great (to you...) and all that, but out of respect I never take my spiders out to "handle". I think they are not toys to fiddle with. But this is only my personal opinion.
+Márk N. Mészáros (GniQQ) I appreciate your respectful attitude in posting this as opposed to the ugly comments others make. It did catch my attention to see the exact same post here as you posted on my vid today too. We are all entitled to our own opinions and preferences in this hobby, and I respect your perspective on not handling the Ts.
You sure are right. But on the other hands it can come in handy to know how to handle your Ts if there is an actual need to like taking care of a wound the spider cant handle itself. :)
Nice. How big is she? My girl is 8"+ and likely one of my calmest Ts now. Super chill. Have you ever noticed that Ts often settle onto your hand or arm or knee and seem to be in no hurry to get away? My girls will sit indefinitely on a knee if I get them out. They certainly don't seem anxious to escape.
I had a White Knee that turned to a male and died... I tried to get him some spider booty the best I could, and I think he was VERY hot and bothered!! He was semi-aggressive, but he let me hold him and was mellow once he got out. The issue was that he was very territorial of his enclosure, so if you did not make your presence known before trying to grab him, he would nail you, and he got me twice. I got that to stop by tapping on the glass of his tank, so he knew that whatever was coming into his cage was much bigger than he was and just not edible.. After that I never got bit again. A month later I saw a female almost full grown for $300 and I wish I got it! I reached in, and she turned around and nailed me, but didnt get her teeth in my skin, just in the sleeve of my shirt, and when I pulled back it yanked her out. But once that happened, she stopped for a moment, started quivering her spinnerettes, and started to move calmly and I actually picked her up versus just letting her walk on to me. I spent about 30 mins holding her, and not one more sign of aggression.. When I had to put her back, she did not like that and clung to my hand, and was hard to get her off. I bought a Nhandu Carapoensis from this same vendor, full grown female for $300 and it died shortly after a moult that I had to intervene on since she got stuck! Because of that, I was hesitant to buy another $300 spider from this seller, but I wish I did! I just got a Pink Salmon sling, and I hope its female!! There is one more at the shop, and I am going to grab it tomorrow @ $20. My Salmon sling is cute, and throws a hair or two, and sometimes will give me a threat pose, but not aggressive and not interested in biting. Once I get it out to hold it, its way cool and even allows me to cup him - A lot of T's will trip out if you do that, even if they are cool. I had a Zebra "warn" me by poking me with her fangs when I tried doing that, but she didnt squeeze hard. Actually my Salmon spidey is a juvenile when I think about it, since its larger than a half dollar coin with its legs spread out.
Hey. By any chance you were breeding this species and still is? I noticed this one has a blue hue while others have brown mixed in. I like this one the best.
my geniculata has flicked hairs at me 5+ times while in premolt, but, luckily, i have yet to feel the itchyness thats supposed to come with those hairs.
Wow, she is a very good girl. So calm, and you're very brave with your handling. Amazing
Oh my god that's probably the most adorable tarantula I've ever seen
Nice big white knee!. Had one at the pet store for 4 months and i finally bought it cause i now know you can hold them. I wasn't interested in a aggressive species. Nice handling! 👍👍

One of the most beautiful tarantulas I've seen on UA-cam yet. Good camera work, too!
Beautiful Tarantula! I can't wait until my girl is that big. She is my favorite one because she is very calm and docile.
I can't believe how docile your lady is :O. Not many A. Gens like her from what I've seen
I was always so afraid to pick up my tarantula like that. They are so fragile that I was scared I would accidentally hurt him. I just let him walk on me. Thanks for showing this.
Офигеть, насколько паук спокоен при таком хватке. Как же он привык к тебе, чувак)
She is huge but buteful and yes I am assuming its a she who else agrees
Definitely.
It's not assumption, you can clearly see it's a she

Wow just go to show if you’re confident enough you’ll be able to handle the Brazilian white knee ❤
Fluffy Brazilian White Knee!
What a beautiful tarantula! 😍
Truly beautiful
What a calm spider. My geniculata would attack immediately)
Same mine would bite as soon as I put my hand near, she has a mad feeding response and usually will eat up to the day before she moults.
mine covers her eyes with her legs, makes herself small, such a cowardly soider 😅

I'm scared of all kinds of house spiders especially Wolf spiders but I have to admit these are gorgeous looking
Urs looks amazing I have a 7month old one and I can't wait till it's fully grown It's about to molt

Beautiful spider😍
I am impressed! Mine thinks everything is food... She's not an aggressive spider or particularly defensive, just greedy.

Wow very beautiful T. I have one its a spiderling but its growing fast. i cant wait till its full grown.
How fast did it grow? I have a spiderling myself currently
I feel better if you handle it, cup your hands loosely like a bowl picking it up like you did almost looks like it was stressful to it. just a thought
That is a gorgeous spider.
The one I used to have would attack anything that came near it whether it was a bug, eye dropper or tweezers.
How not to pick up a spider- this will eventually get you bit.
The color is cool..
By the way i'm selling the old skins on ebay, soon i will upload a link. They are in perfect condition, even you can make a pendant with the fangs :D
