Great video mate. You’ll get better results with rice bran oil and a cloth, like an old tee shirt or flannie shirt. Oil, the. Heat up till smoking, reapply a thin coat of oil, let smoke and repeat about 6-7 times, you’ll end up with an amazing non stick surface

I’ve not long converted to the above process, and what a difference. Gotta give credit where credit is due, Harry from Fire to Fork for the technique. Did up a roast last weekend, used 3 camp ovens and they all cleaned up so easily. Been cooking in ovens 15 years and this is far the best way 😀

@Conelli’s Great Adventure - do you let it cool between each of the 6-7 applications? Or just reapply oil each time it smokes?
In the interests of good health for us all … Olive oil (extra virgin olive oil from first cold pressing) is a “healthier” oil than rice bran or peanut oil BTW and is the oil most resistant to breaking down into unhealthy components during cooking etc … according to the experts.

@@surfinwaves4769 I used to use olive oil, it breaks down to quickly and doesn’t leave a sufficient coating. I’ll heat up the pan on a medium heat, thin layer of oil, let smoke and burn off and reapply. No need to cool between coats of oil

This type looks thinner than cast iron. You probably have got both:) is there a difference in the way you cook with these as opposed to cast iron? Do they heat quicker and cool down quicker meaning you have to monitor them more? Just curious. Thanks . S

I’ll hopefully be able to answer all those questions when I do a cook up or a few cook ups I should say and have a bit more knowledge myself as I’ve never used one before in my life thanks for watching and the great questions cheers🇦🇺👍

Looks great! Does it have to be seasoned in a BBQ or could it be done over charcoal by just sitting all the bits over the open snow peak fire pit?

Not sure I just followed the instructions for a change 🤣 I think you need a fare bit of heat eg bbq or oven but you can give it a go
