Your license would be just the standard driver's license. You wouldn't be able to use that ID to get through a border checkpoint. You would need either a passport or an enhanced driver's license. However, the only states that provide an enhanced driver's license are Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington. So if you live in one of those states you can get an enhanced driver's license that will allow you to travel between Mexico and Canada without a passport. Otherwise, you will need to get at least a passport card or an actual passport. Hope that helps.
You should be able to go to your local BMV and get one the same day. You will just need to find out what documents you will need to bring with you on their website.
Wait I don’t have ID or drivers license can I still use my birth certificate or social security or my school Id to travel to Texas ?? And I do have an expired passport and I’m 18
The TSA will accept an expired passport or you can present 2 other forms of ID such as a student ID and social security card. You will have to complete a ID card application and then visit a DMV. Here is more information on the process 👉www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/identification-id-cards/
I do not believe the TSA will accept an ab 60 driver's license so you can get through airport security. The other risk is that the TSA engages in immigration enforcement and they may ask you about your immigration status.
The deadline to have a REAL ID compliant license to be able to fly domestically in the U.S. has been pushed back to May 7th, 2025
So that means we are safe 2 more years huh ? Because I’m traveling in 2 weeks .. please tell me I’m safe I have my country passport with me too
@@elizabethromero8630 You have 2 more years until Real ID kicks in but either way your passport is considered real ID compliant anyway.
@@BenDreamVacations thank you !
Nicely done
Thanks Kat! I appreciate it!
Since it still does not go into effect until 2023, Can I still fly domestically with an ID without a star?
Yes, you can still fly domestically with your current ID regardless if it’s a Real ID or not until the effective date in 2023.
You should get the realID as soon as you can. Save you a lotta time in the future.
@@Castle_Bravo. exactly!
@@BenDreamVacations even if it says "not for federal purposes"?
@@wide2thebuzz you can still use an Id that says not for federal purposes up until the May 2023 deadline.

Can I get my a state id expedited because of a trip that is less then a week?

If I don’t have a driver license can I fly with a real state Id?
Yes, you can use real state id's to fly.
Can i use my school id?
No, you won’t be able to use a school Id.
The problem here is fear. Trying to scare you into believing that you have to have it when it's documented that you don't.
Can I fly with my permit
You mean a learner's permit for driving? If so, then yes, it can be used as a valid ID to board a flight.
