  • This short video highlights the Be More Than A Bystander Program.
In 2015, the CFL and the Ending Violence Association of Canada embarked on a ground breaking partnership to increase awareness about gender based violence in Canada, provided training to all players, all coaches and all staff of every CFL team about to the CFL’s national policy on preventing and responding to violence against women and providing strategies on how everyone can speak up and break the silence.
The Be More Than A Bystander program began as a partnership between the BC Lions and the Ending Violence Association of BC that sees sports icons from the BC Lions using their status and public profile to create awareness and urge everyone to "Break the Silence on Violence Against Women."
Six CFL teams have now joined the effort to end gender-based violence. The vast majority of men don’t commit violence, but can make a huge difference by speaking up to minority that do.
