We recently purchased this little camp cook stove, which is designed to be used in a canvas wall tent. Join us to see what we think!! Here is where we ordered it: winnerwell.us
The circular plate that removes from the top is not for feeding the stove you remove it for direct heat for frying I believe hope this helps. Ian 🏴
Thank you for going through the detail of the stove. Been on the fence for a while but i think im convinced. I also have a possible solution for the hot handles. Wrap the handle with some leather. Just relatively cheap leather as im sure over time it will dry and crack. It should help reduce the heat to possibly enough to grab without gloves.
What a wonderful concise review of a super quality product. You can see just in the video how well made this stove and accessories are. Big credit to winnerwell. This is the stove on my list to use in my helsport tipi. Thanks so much for the review Ian 🏴
Get with it mode. Love it lol. Good review! I'm on Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada. Wanting to buy the Winnerwell stuff. Medium size for my 16' canvas tent. Stove, water tank and oven. Watching all the reviews I can. Good job!
Yes the top plate can be removed to add wood from the top and a wok can be used but the real purpose for the removable plate is for a smoker accessory that winnerwell markets
Yep, about 60% of our comments have been corrections on that top plate. I will forever stand corrected! 🙂 Preparing an update on this little stove in tandem with our canvas tent. Stay tuned! Should be live by morning.
I think you have the most comprehensive video of this on the internet. Thx. I will be buying this system, except I will get the stove pipe oven. Then I don't have to worry about the cooking space. Although, having all of that to fit in one bag would be awesome!
Thanks great review ..the circular removable plate on the top is for the Winnerwell smoker ..yes it has a smoker accessory for those extra fish on trail ..or turn that bland store cheese into a smoked delicacy...yum,yum !
Everybody gets that hole in the top wrong. When you take that lid off, you close the air from the front of the stove off and you can cook, marshmallows, and hotdogs directly over the open fire. Because the stove is drafting out the pipe it draws air in through that hole and you don’t get any smoke in your tent.
Thank you for sharing! I would say that I ordered the leg extensions with mine, used them from day one and cannot imagine using it without them, if anything it helps my back for sure. I may give it a go without them but have no desire to have it sit lower. Last note on the add-ons, I have all of them as well and they do fit nicely in the case, along with the legs extensions and mat. The case also has the strap on top which accepts the triple wall pipe nicely.
I have seen people use tent stoves in the tent that you have in your video. They place a heat proof material at the top of the tent where the chimney exits.
Door gasket is probably not used as they want the air flow leakage to keep heat off the front glass & give a minimum air intake for safety The pad melts so I’d add a cooking tray under it or foil… The water pot is bigger than a kettle so what’s the point paying so much for a particular gadget specific to that stove.. I like the flue cooking box but it is a bit small & very expensive… It is a great stove though I got the medium for car to campsite trips Did you get the heat fans (stove fan) there realllly great
The circular top is for cooking over the open flame - use of a wok, or placing a grill over the flame for a flame-cooked steak, or a cast-iron skillet or Dutch oven, etc. It's a very versatile option. I've never used it for adding wood.
I have cubic grizzly. I use it inside a school bus for heat and cooking. The quality of the cubic is so much better for the same price point. I love the hot water tank what a nice convenience.
We've done that sort of thing, but the oven is nice for baking. But probably I could use a dutch oven or just invert a cast iron pot over bread or whatever I bake too.
For camping, how long does the wood last in the stove (on low)? Also, was there any reason you picked this one over the woodlander double view? That one is almost the same but has longer legs, more windows on the fire and perhaps better control of the burn rate. I don't think you can store the water on the side though.
Depends on what kind of wood you're using. But if you're using it for heat you'll be up a lot. Hickory/oak/ash would last maybe 1 1/2-2 hours at the most. I didn't want the extra glass for durability issues. Eventually, the glass will get broken. We ordered an extra one for the front just in case.
I have wondered that myself. I do believe that others have put wood stoves into campers. I am not certain if winter well makes some type of thimble that could be used. But it is something that I have in the back of my mind to try somewhere down the road.
@@DannaGesellchen , thanks so much for your comment & info. I like the Winnerwell Nomad too....a few others I like are the Kni-Co & the Cubic Grizzly (***seems a little expensive though).
Do you know which model has the adjustable spark arrestor mesh size? That is literally my only dislike of this stove, I am not confident with this spark arrestor over my expensive tent.
@@DannaGesellchen I just got mine I went for the woodsman stove with water pipe oven and folding oven you showed. The pipe oven is extremely efficient and gets hot!
Think about what you could carry in a modern version of the Mormon two wheeled cart. I am thinking about the frame from a bicycle cart frame with handles. There was a man who had a cart made that tilted up and his tent roof sat on the upright handles of his cart. He pulled that cart thousands of miles over several years. Of course he was built like an ox. Any cart I pulled would have to be pretty light.
a modern version might be an e-bike with a cargo trailer... or a purpose-built cargo bike (e-powered). With that capacity you could carry a whole glamping set-up, plus spare charged batteries and a solar set-up for the bike!
Hi sister , I saw in one of your video you were using wheat grinder, and I think you mentioned the it is on your website, which I couldn't access , also i love in Portugal is it possible to have one of this delivered to Portugal.
Your water "heater" has a two design purpose, heat fast on top, keep warm on the side as well as creating space for top cooking. And the top divit is in fact for direct heat to cook with. Many think its a flawed design and not needed really.
Yes, I have been corrected on that at least a dozen times now. Personally I have never felt that I needed it, but it’s nice to know it’s there if I do. Thank you for joining us and thank you for reaching out.
@@DannaGesellchen no worries just being helpful I hope I purchased the small version of this stove for my trk canopy so I'm excited to get it installed especially here in Western wa with rain n snow right now :( wish for more snow than rain! 👍Lol

Yep! That's correct!! 🙂
Great for using a wok
But once it's going, it doesn't smoke if you do feed it from top.
Thank you both for the presentation!
Thank you for making this review. One thing though, - the smaller water tank is not an option for the large stove. It's for the smaller stove
