"IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO MAKE SOME REALLY BAD DRUMS" - Should have given me a shout. I would have sent you some projects and saved you some time. One of your most important videos. Cheers Dilby.
I have watched so many tutorials at this point at not once before has anyone mentioned looking at the sound tilt of a sample on the mixer. Epiphany moment for me; thank you!
Excellent explanation about a simple thing that for us new producers is a complex thing, because for me I always want to put a lot of elements in my drums but as you said, less is more.
@@jaydee3514 in the end 95% of synths do the same thing. I believe with Serum you could pretty much make any sound you can think of. I recommend getting Syntorial which is a synth that teaches you sound design.

Probably the best house music tutorials on UA-cam. Learning loads from these.

Is there a reason you prefer the classic view instead of the 1-shot view in simpler? Just personal preference or a technical reason?
Yeah, it gives me control over the amplification envelope so I can fine tune it a bit more.
What approaches do you take with subby kicks when you want a more groovy sub bass rather than 4/4?
I don't take that approach. I would always try to have a more punchy kick with a pronounced attack if I'm using a very stubby bass.
