Great old photos. Would have loved someone to buy the corner of Bay and King for me around 1920. I could have sold it to the TD Bank to build that lovely Black Tower.
One minor correction to be made for historical accuracy: At about 1:55 a photo is labelled 1927 Princess Gates to CNE. This should be Princes' Gates (Prince - plural, possessive) dedicated to Edward, Prince of Wales, (the future King Edward VII) and his brother Prince George who visited Toronto that year.
Thank you so much for this video! I know they take a lot of work to put together. I am amazed at the number of older buildings that still survive after 100 years. At 2:03 They are the "Prince's Gates" as they were opened by Edward VIII and Albert (Future George VI) who were the Prince's at the time as Dad (George V) was still King. I see someone else has made that comment as well. Just giving some historical background as to why they are called that. Again - thank you for putting this video together.
Oh, a time when the buildings in toronto had history. Its kind of sad to see so many of these beautiful buildings torn down to be replaced by generic gross steel and glass condos...
I wish i could go back in time and drive my car on these streets with no traffic lights or Gardner completely closed for repairs for weekend or to waste time in traffic jams because 2 lanes are closed for construction.
Yes there are but whens the last time you visited Scarborough,North York, and north Etobicoke? I can count all the white kids in many schools on one hand.
thank you I recognized a few sits that still exists

I love historic architecture. This is what makes a city alive and proud.
So sad Torontonians don’t have the culture of preserving old buildings.
Especially the young idiots , that spray paint everything .
Thanks for sharing!
I walk along most of these streets everyday. It's crazy to see what they looked like half a century or especially 150 years ago. It's really changed.
Thanks for posting this, we need more like it.
Beautiful pictures indeed. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for sharing pictures of my home city
Thank you for sharing these photos!
Cool stuff I was born on July 15 1972 at the Toronto East general hospital
No pictures of Honest Eds, The market, or even Sam the Record Man. Must be more to come?
Great pics. Some of these people could be my ancestor as I found family from here using Ancestry.

Princes', not Princess. I always thought it was Princess, too! Lol. x
Imagine the patience people would have with someone skiing on the streets in present day toronto...lol

Old people or not allowed to be around because it could hurt somebody's feelings when you see them where was this which in Calgary was it in
The pictures at 2:51, 3:44 and 3:53 are the same picture.
ooohhhhyes
Am I tripping or were the streets made of wood? At 1:03
I think this was temporary wood decking due to Yonge street being torn out or excavated for the construction of the Yonge subway.
You messed up one thing, it's not call princess gates, its called princes' gate as in male not female, read it next time you there
