I agree I prefer this over the actual final cd track version. Their final version that was on the CD is much too complicated. I think jari goes a little overboard sometimes with the layering. This version while still complicated and layered is simpler than the final version they released on the cd which was over board imo.
@@creaturecore13 The original cd version is overloaded because the mix sucks, the 1.5 version is way better because the layers arent conflicting with each otehr as much.
Agreed man, this is way better than the studio version. I love the studio version. They do have a live album out also. "Live at Tuska" that sounds exquisite.
Teemu plays the cleanest arpeggios I've ever seen. Look up the videos Troy Grady has done with him. And both he and Jari have piezo pickups for the acoustic stuff. These session videos do have a lot of post-production, but you are hearing the tracks recorded in the session.
As a guitarist, you might even enjoy TIME from the same Sonic Pump session more. Jari (the singer) shows some of his phenomenal guitar playing talent there. Then there is awesome video where Teemu (lead guitarist) shows how he plays their Winter Madness solo. Definitely worth to check that out: Wintersun - Time (TIME I Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios) - ua-cam.com/video/4UMwLxFNKS0/v-deo.html Teemu Mäntysaari Winter Madness - ua-cam.com/video/_YBaEyTIOi4/v-deo.html And anther phenomenal guitar talent from Finland is Matias Kupiainen (Stratovarius). This is him playing some medley of Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Children Of Bodom, and some classical stuff, before "no one" really knew anything about him (in Finnish guitar hero concert): ua-cam.com/video/Vl45xrH3j-s/v-deo.html
@@KarmaHoudini17 thanks. I also noticed that you reacted to slowed down version of Romanticide by Nightwish. That is why I did this version, which is probably the best quality in YT: ua-cam.com/video/cAwtzi7Q3Bk/v-deo.html
@@KarmaHoudini17 The blue custom (drop-C) has an RGA body with custom scoops on both sides. The neck is based on my 1987 Ibanez Jem LNG and is slightly rounder and thicker than most Jem necks. The pickups are an open calibrated set of Bare Knuckle Black Hawks with ceramic magnets and the guitar is also equipped with a piezo system (Ibanez Double Edge-Pro bridge) for more realistic acoustic guitar emulation. Here's info on Teemus axe 🤘
Thanks so much! Wow that piezo system is what really blows my mind. It sounds so cool. It literally fooled me in this video into thinking the acoustic guitar was a backing track 😅
I tjink it's live audio with a backtrack like the keyboard (played by Jari I think) and the choir - maybe something else too - I'm not a pro. But I think it's remastered though
Someone told me that it's just a really good piezo system in the guitar for the acoustic effect. I'm sure the signal chain and other gear help as well, of course
@@timomastosalo The small switch closest to the bottom of the guitar switches between the piezo and the normal pickups. In the "Time" video from this session, you can see Jari flip the switch when he transitions from the acoustic part to the distorted part.
Yes, both are Ibanez. Jari's silver one is an RGD that he customized, and as stated, Teemu's blue one is a J Custom. Jari also has a few Solar guitars that Ola sent him.
The acoustic part in the middle is what they do live as well. Plus they sound pretty close to this live, going by the one time I've seen Wintersun live. The orchestrations are backing tracks, but that's it. It's all written by Jari, the lead singer, who lost a quarter of his lungs due to TB while he was serving his term in the army. They have a third album out, The Forest Seasons. Time II is currently in the works, along with 3 other Wintersun albums.
Well..to the lead guitarist thing. Both guitarists play lead and rythym and they play solos together as well..so..thats why the cam changes inbetween then all the time :P
if you like heavy progy stuff, check out brand new project Dark Horse White Horse - Black Hole musicians from ReVamp and drummer from Epica, Marcela Bovio singing great guitar and synth stuff going on
Thank you. I've gotten a few comments complaining about me speaking on top of the music, but I felt it was better for the pace than constantly stopping the video. I can listen to the music while talking; I'm not sure why people think I'm incapable of this.

They are playing for real... for me, this is better than studio version. They have of course tracks backing the song.
Yep. Kai Hahto said that this song was shot at the end of the day.
This was even MORE impressive considering it's all live audio, then 😲

It is so live!
Yep, and it's a great performance 👏
The omnipotent sweaty drummer is Kai - a human-mechanical metronome 🤘🔥🤘
He is absolutely insane!
Jari is lead everything :p
Both play lead, depending on the part of the song..
@@toiddiot1629 yeah was just a joke seems he composes the music
Jari played the solo in this song, not Teemu.
Teemus guitar is also Ibanez. It has a reversed head on it, that's why it looks a bit strange?
Ahh that could be part of it. I also simply haven't seen that specific model before

Can it be that the lead guitarist just uses some pedal to get that acoustic effect?
The drummer has himself to blame for :) Jari wrote all the else as the template version, but he showed it to Kai the drummer.

Enjoyed this with some Kilchoman o7
Cheers 🍻
Wintersun is definitely not power metal.
If you check their genres listed, power metal is included, and they very obviously have power metal influence
They have piezo pickups on a switch. Both guitars are Ibanez, the blue one custom.

This method is quite good IMHO. There are a bunch of other reactors who pause 20 times to avoid demonetization.
